In large power utilities the provision of emergency eserve which is used for restoring the total system following the oss of on-line generation is an important indication of system ecurity. This reserve also has to be produced wholly within the ystem itself. Thus provision of adequate reserve is essential to ystem security but it is costly. This paper deals with the odeling and identification of small isolated power systems as an mergency reserve for the Maharashtra State power system. © 2008 IEEE.
