Abstract
India is the world's second-largest\r\ntelecommunications market. The\r\ntelecom infrastructure in India is\r\nexpec ted to inc rease at a\r\ncompound annual growth rate\r\n(CAGR) of 20 % during the period\r\n2008–2015 to reach 571,000\r\ntowers in 2015.\r\nThe telecommunications industry\r\na t t r a c t e d f o r e i g n d i r e c t\r\ninvestments (FDI) worth US$\r\n12,889 million in the period April\r\n2000–September 2013, according to data published by Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion\r\n(DIPP).\r\nThe country's GSM operators added 1.66 million rural subscribers in October, taking their\r\noverall user base to 274.32 million, according to data released by the Cellular Operators' Association of\r\nIndia (COAI). The telecom companies are looking at rural India to add users and revenues.\r\n
