Taste-wise fruit sorting system using thermal image processing

Visual appearance of fruits such as texture, shape, size and colour are insufficient for recognizing the quality and taste of fruits. Fruit quality screening without harming them is challenging with high precision level. This paper suggests a non-destructive technique which is based on thermal imaging that examines the internal and external properties of fruits. With the analysis of fruit surface's thermal properties, the ripening conditions can be recognized effectively. By developing an automated system, tedious human inspection tasks for fruit sorting are decreased. © 2019 IEEE.
