Constant area section length downstream to the fuel injection point is a crucial dimension of scramjet duct geometry. It has a major contribution in creating the maximum effective pressure inside the combustor that is required for propulsion. The length is limited by the thermal choking phenomenon, which occurs when heat is added in a flow through constant area duct. As per theory, to avoid thermal choking the constant area section length depends upon the inlet conditions and the rate of heat addition. The complexity related to mixing and combustion process inside the supersonic stream makes it difficult to predict the rate of heat addition and in turn the length. Recent efforts of simulating the reacting flow inside scramjet combustors are encouraging and can be useful in this regard. The presented work attempts to use simulation results of scramjet combustion for predicting the constant area section length for a typical scramjet combustor. Though the technique appears to be simple, in general it can be applied in the design of combustor ducts where thermal chocking needs to be avoided. A typical scramjet combustor geometry with isolator, constant area section, and diverging section with an intrusive fuel injection scheme from the available experimental work is modeled for simulation. Reacting simulations are done and validated with the available experimental results. The inlet conditions being those corresponding to a Mach 6 scramjet flight. One-dimensional analysis of frictionless flow through constant area ducts is used to calculate maximum possible enthalpy addition in the flow. For the given injector configuration and equivalence ratio of 0.34, the limiting length of constant area section to avoid thermal choking was obtained as 59 mm. The value of this limiting length obtained from simulation is verified. Comments are made about the method.

Using Numerical Simulation to Obtain Length of Constant Area Section in Scramjet Combustor

The basic objective of the paper is to identify thedesired circulation ratio for the natural circulation of water tubeboilers in different operating conditions. This requires the basicstudy of heat flux and the mode of the boiling heat transfer, andthe phenomenon like a departure from nucleate boiling and tubeoverheating. The parameters, which need to be studied are heatflux, pressure, dryness fraction, void fraction, liquid velocity andtheir impact on the required circulation ratio. The present work isto develop a circulation analysis model for the natural circulationof the water tube boiler and to check the boiler design for differentfailure modes. For a natural circulation boiler, the circulationratio is one of the most important design parameters as the otherdesign parameter like critical heat flux and skin temperature aremainly derived from the circulation ratio. The requiredcirculation ratio can vary with the boiler pressure, liquid velocityand maximum heat flux. This study is intended to provide inputfor the safe and optimum design of a natural circulation boiler.

Desired Circulation Ratio for Natural Circulation in Water-Tube Boiler

Diabetic Retinopathy is a primary complication of diabetes which more often than not, affects both eyes and anyone with type-1 or type-2 diabetes can develop it. A Diabetic patient should undergo eye tests periodically as the pace of development of this condition is slow. A Dataset of Fundus Photographs of retina is considered. Thus, there is a notable value in automatically categorizing the Fundus Photographs. Therefore, to get a consolidated and objective medical diagnosis, this paper proposes a transfer learning based approach for Diabetic Retinopathy categorization. The resizing of the dataset is performed, which converts the varied images into 224x224 format. The images are augmented using AUGMIX and pooled using GeM. Then, we have used pretrained models, namely SEResNeXt32x4d and EfficientNetb3. The pretraining of the aforementioned neural networks has been done on the ImageNet dataset. Then, the Diabetic Retinopathy images are migrated to these models. Based on the dataset already available, the output is ultimately split up into 5 levels according to the seriousness of the degree of DR. The experimental results show that the training accuracy of this method can reach as high as 0.91. Hence, the retina images of the Diabetic and Healthy patients can be easily classified using our proposed methodology, consequently reducing the number of reviews by medical professionals. © 2020 IEEE.

A Deep Learning Approach for Diabetic Retinopathy detection using Transfer Learning

Adequate supply of oxygen is essential for the complete combustion of fuel in the furnace of a boiler and defective duct design may cause serious loss in the boiler efficiency due to incomplete combustion. In boiler there is a system which controls the air flow rate reaching to the furnace. FD fan helps to build the pressure and force the air to pass through the duct and wind box. In wind box, this air will be sent to the furnace for helping combustion process. The main objective of this work was to simulate the flow of air from blower to the inlet of a wind box through rectangular split duct to see whether it could provide improved flow conditions and to see whether there was equal mass flow rate of air through both the legs of a split duct. The purpose of providing a split duct was to eliminate one blower which would otherwise be required for two separate ducts arrangement. A 3D model using CFD was prepared to capture the changes in the mass flow distribution in the duct at two different outlets. Through this analysis, it was found that the mass flow rates of air through the two legs of the split duct were not equal. The damping needs to be provided for the duct having longer length in order to have equal mass flow rate of air through both the legs of the duct.

Restructuring of object-oriented software system using clustering techniques

Facial based human age estimation has attracted lot of attention nowadays. Age estimation has become quite challenging task due to variation in lighting conditions, poses, and facial expression. Despite so much research in facial based human age estimation still there is room to improve performance. To improve accuracy we present age estimation using deep belief network. Deep belief network have shown superior performance as compared to other classification models. Success of deep belief network lies in contrastive divergence algorithm. Facial images passes though viola johns facial detection algorithm, once face is detected facial featured are extracted using active appearance and scattering transform feature method. These feature extraction model not only extracts geometric features but also extracts texture features. Subsequently deep belief network classification model is built on partitioned training images and evaluated on testing images. We performed experimentation on training images. Dataset and results are obtained by varying training percentages. Compared to other age estimation models we achieved low mean absolute error of 4.95 for 70% training images dataset. This study shows that due to inclusion of deep belief network performance is excelled. © 2020, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Facial Based Human Age Estimation Using Deep Belief Network

The Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is known to be characterized by decreased social interactions to stimuli, difficulties in communication, repetitive behaviours and physical movements, unusual or severely limited interests. Since it affects different individuals differently and to different extents, it is very challenging to diagnose and differentiate from other neurodevelopmental disorders. The earlier it is diagnosed, the better it is for the individual, as an intervention protocol can be charted at the earliest. Research shows that early intervention can be very beneficial in the long term as the affected individuals' symptoms can be reduced to a great extent and in some cases they may not show up on the spectrum at all, but the lack of awareness and objective diagnostic tools makes it difficult to diagnose at an early age. The objective nature of the automated approaches to the screening of Autism Spectrum Disorder would be considered as a viable option for a second opinion and by an extension also an efficient screening process after which the patients would be referred to a therapist. Tests like eye tracking, detection of physical attributes via wearable and static IoT devices, classification on MRI scans and voice prosody detection techniques are easily reproducible and more time efficient than a one on one interview session with a therapist. In this paper we explore the various innovations made in automating the screening process. This paper lists the demerits of the subjective existing diagnosis systems and also surveys and complies the various eye gazing, voice prosody, wearable IoT modules, their contributions and their impacts in making the diagnosis process of Autism Spectral Disorder more objective and efficient. © 2020 IEEE.

A Survey: Strategies for detection of Autism Syndrome Disorder

Walking is the commonly adopted exercise to maintain and regain the fitness. The very basic thing which layman can understand is observed variation in walking speed during different phases, monitoring of such variation at early stage helps out to know the health condition in certain diseases. To understand the influence of Barefoot Walk and with Shoe Walk, Gait Velocity is selected for basic analysis of the gait pattern in this paper. Fifty subjects within age group of 25 to 75 years are selected for data collection and requested to walk barefoot and using comfortable footwear. Using GAITRite mat platform working on pressure sensors logic, data is recorded and results are tested. Results shows that the barefoot velocity remains on lower side compared with shoe walk. While, when compared along with age group it shows linear relation between gait velocity and age. As age increases the velocity decreases. © 2020 IEEE.

Verifying the Effect of Barefoot Walk and Comfortable Shoe Walk using Gait Velocity as a Tool for Analysis

Design of 200W Ku band GaN HEMT power amplifier is presented. A balanced configuration using 20 mm bare die packaged GaN HEMTdevice is discussed. Branch line coupler is used to parallel cascade two single stage power amplifiers. Inductor based equivalent bondwire array modelis used for this design. Simulated performance of power amplifier (PA) shows 200W output power with drain efficiency of 68% and power addedefficiency (PAE) of 53% at design frequency of 11.10 GHz. Less than 0.5 dB variation in large signal gain is observed between 11.07-11.20 GHz band offrequency. Proposed GaN HEMT power amplifier can be used to replace conventional travelling wave tube amplifiers (TWTAs) used in Ku-band satellitecommunication.

Micro forming is a production technology of very small metal elements. This paper presents a concept of grain size regulation during LDH (Limit Dome Height) test. The proposed concept is based on an empirical formulation generated using the experimental results of SS304 and brass. An empirical model is helpful in predicting the load-stroke behavior of different metals. Particularly, results of iron, copper and nickel are demonstrated. Further the concept of control scheme is presented to predict the grain size of the material during micro forming.
