A review on the factors that decrease the performance of a solar water heater

The solar central receiver is the most crucial part of a solar tower power plant (CSP). In this study, a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) framework was used for analysing four circular designs (with same surface area and mass flow rate of heat transfer fluid) of the central tower receiver. In this study, a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) framework was developed for analyzing four circular (stain steel) designs of the central tower receiver, namely, a circular constant tube diameter (CCD), a circular vertical constant tube diameter solar receiver (CUTD), a circular variable tube diameter (CVTD) receiver and a leaf type circular solar receiver (LTSR). This analysis studied the solar radiation heat transfer efficiency, temperature distribution, and fluid outlet temperature; pressure and velocity distributions for the designs using CFD. It was found that the LTSR design helped achieve a higher rise in temperature of the heat transfer fluid (HTF) when the mass flow rate was in the range of 0.1 to 0.2 liter per minute. The LSTR model of circular receiver was more efficient in heat transfer circular receiver designs compared with other circular designs for same surface area and strength of solar beam irradiations. © 2022 International Information and Engineering Technology Association. Numerical Analysis of Concentrated Beam Solar Circular Receivers

The performance of the central solar receiver should be properly examined for an effective design of a solar power or solar heating system. The performance of solar receiver is affected by three parameters. These are the amount of solar radiations, the state of the heating medium and the temperature of the surrounding air. Also, while evaluating the performance of a solar receiver, the ambient weather conditions should be taken into account. As a result, when a large amount of direct light strikes a solar receiver, the power generated increases as well. In contrast, as the amount of direct light falling on the solar receiver diminishes, so does the amount of electricity generated. As a result, it is generally understood that on sunny days, the performance of the central solar receiver will be higher, while on overcast days, the performance will be reduced. The solar receiver collects heat from diffused or reflecting light (when the sun is obscured by clouds) and absorbs reflective light from glossy or light-colored surfaces. The experimental results reveal that solar radiation collection performance is dependent on climatic circumstances; thus, when installing a solar receiver, it should be suitable for the specific region depending on weather conditions. © 2022 Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Investigation of key success factors for open innovation and firm performance in Indian IT and ITeS industry: A Systematic Literature Review

The need to take-off and land in stringent battlefield conditions necessitates the need for Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL) capabilities in Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV). Also, a major issue associated with UAVs is that these aircrafts are not suitable for operations in limited airspace. This problem becomes huge especially in urban areas where the usage of runway is not possible, and UAVs usually have to fly at a relatively low speed and altitude. VTOL UAVs require less investment in infrastructure and geographical area for their operations as compared to other traditional aircrafts. Development of VTOL technology would not only strengthen our military but also eliminate the requirement of big airstrips. This paper focuses on the introduction, classification, applications and basic design process of VTOL UAVs keeping in mind the military requirements.

An increasing scarcity of resources and their growing expensedemands a reduction in energy consumption for passenger and goods transportation. Here, the aerospace and aviation sector plays a specialrole with respect to the application of new materials. There is probably no other material more closely related to aerospace and aircraftthan titanium and its alloys. With a density of 4.Jg/cm³, titanium alloys are only about half as heavy as steel or Ni-based super alloys,yielding a unique combination of strength and lightness. Furthermore, then have exceptional corrosion resistance favorsthe use of titaniumalloys in the aerospace and aviation sector.

Design of Automatic Loading Machine in Electroplating Industry

The need to increase the thermal performance of heat exchangers, thereby affecting energy, material & cost savings have led to development & use of many techniques termed as Heat transfer Augmentation. Augmentation techniques increase convective heat transfer by reducing the thermal resistance in a heat exchanger. Twisted tapes-a type of passive heat transfer augmentation techniques have shown significantly good results in past studies. Different designs of twisted tapes used are-Reduced width twisted tapes (RWTT), Baffled reduced width twisted tapes (BRWTT1) & Baffled reduced width twisted tape with holes (BRWTT2). The proposed work is aimed at finding the heat transfer performance in a circular pipe by employing corrugated twisted tapes& also results are to be compared with plain twisted tape. These tapes will be tested for different configurations of twist ratios & wave angles. It is to be verified whether corrugated nature of twisted tape assists the heat transfer by turbulence enhancement or if it increases the pressure drop. Also the use of â€žCFDâ€Ÿ software is proposed for analysis work & developing correlations.
