In this paper energy and exergy analysis on components of working rectified sprite plant of capacity 11 TPH coal and the gas-fired boiler is carried out. Most of the system Is design on energetic performance criterion and is not sufficient for finding system imperfections. Hence exergy analysis is necessary to improve. It has been observed that Energetic and Exergetic performance of Plate Heat Exchanger use for heating the feed water for the boiler can be optimized. Heat carried away by Spent wash which is waste product of the plant and used as hot fluid in PHE can be utilized more effectively. Analytical calculation is carryout in Excel program to study the change in mass flow effect and by graph it has been observed that by increasing the flow rate of spent wash or decreasing the flow rate of feed water there is an increase in energetic efficiency, exergetic efficiency, and feed water temperature. Also, the effect of adding a gasketed plate has been observed, temperature increase by adding plate but there is also a pressure drop. The experimental is carried out based on analytical result there is an increase in exergetic efficiency of PHE by 6 to 7 % and increases in temperature of feed water 0.90-degree c by increasing the mass flow by 900 kg/hr. Also, other components of the boiler were observed before and after experimentation and found to be increased in performance. The thermal performance of PHE is optimized by adjusting the mass flow rate. © 2022 Author(s).

Exergetic analysis of plate heat exchanger for boiler in rectified spirit plant

The paper contains the experimental investigations on the pressure drop for the two phase flow in the flow boiling of refrigerant with the insertion of twisted tape in the horizontal circular tube. The Pressure drop analysis, based on data using the twisted tape is performed using the refrigerant R-407C in a horizontal tube with the inner diameter 13.4mm and 2m long. Twisted tapes with twist ratio 9, 14 are used for the predictive results. The experimental investigation was carried out with the operating condition: i)Refrigerant mass flux:100-350?kg m-2s-1 ii) heat flux: 0-10 KWm-2 iii) evaporating pressure 3-8 bar iv) evaporating temperature -15 to 15 °C v) vapor quality 0.05-0.9. The available literature was consider for the comparison of experimental and predictive pressure drop. It showed that the Kanizawa and Ribatski proposed pressure drop correlation is suitable to use, present data base 99% of the error band with ±30 %. © 2021 Author(s).

Pressure drop prediction in flow boiling of R-407C in two phase flow using twisted tape insert in horizontal tube

The objective of this research paper is to present steady state simulation model and EES program for design and thermodynamic analysis is used to predict the performance of single effect vapor absorption chiller. The working condition of steam is entering and exit to the generator. At that point, the program gives the thermodynamic properties of all purposes of the state, for example, design information each heat exchangers in the cycle and the overall performance of the cycle. The outcome is from EES program is utilized to contemplate the impact of structure parameters on cycle performance. In the conventional absorption refrigeration system dilute solution of LiBr is directly goes to the generator at inlet of generator in this type high heat source is required and increasing the area of the generator. In this paper is to present incorporation of heat reclaimer in the solution heat exchanger and the generator. The addition of one heat exchanger with increasing COP as well as reduced heat source and heat transfer area in the generator. This program gives the operating parameter at all state points, design value of all heat exchanger and design performance of the system. The refrigeration capacity of the system is 100TR. To check the performance of system by using changing flow rate of heat source, heat exchanger effectiveness. The output of this program and simulation results use for the sizing of new refrigeration system

Implementation of a Single Effect Absorption LiBr-H2O Refrigeration Chiller by using Thermodynamic Modeling and Steady State Simulation

Heat transfer enhancement with respect to void fraction (i.e. vapor quality) is investigated in a flow boiling of R407C using twisted tapes in a tubular evaporator of 13.40 mm inner diameter and 2m length. Following operating conditions are considered for investigations: (i) heat flux – 1.5 to 9.5 kWm-2; (ii) mass flux - 150 to 300 kg s-1 m-2; (iii) evaporating temperature ranging from -150C to +150C; (iv) average void fraction( vapor quality) -0.05 to 0.90. Heat Transfer enhancement due to twisted tapes is found to be varied with respect to void fraction (vapor quality) and operating conditions. 10 to 40% void fraction is found to be most suitable range for heat transfer enhancement for all operating conditions. Twisted tapes of twist ratio 12, 10 & 8 are compared for their heat transfer performance. Twisted tape of twist ratio 12 has shown maximum heat transfer enhancement.

Heat transfer Enhancement against Void Fraction in Flow Boiling of R407C using Twisted Tapes

This paper shows comparison of Aluminum and Copper fin tube intercooler used in multistage reciprocating air compressor. Results are validated with ANSYS – Fluent - 18.2 software. The experimentation is done on the Copper fin tube length 1090mm with helically wounded strip width of 6mm and 8 numbers of fins per inch. Volumetric efficiency increases and work input decreases for Copper fin tube with air velocity of 5 m/s. The results shown increase in heat transfer with decreasing air temperature

Experimentation &amp; CFD Analysis of Intercooler Fins in Two Stage Reciprocating Air Compressor

This Paper shows the effect of port fuel injection pressure of CNG in 3-cylinder SI Engine at Wide Open Throttle position using sequential port fuel injection system. All trials are performed on 4-stroke, 796 cc MPFI S.I engine at injection pressure of 2.0, 2.2, 2.4, 2.6, 2.8 bar for constant speed of 2500, 3000, 3500, 4000 & 4500 rpm. During the trial compression ratio is kept constant at 9.2 with Maximum Brake Torque (MBT) spark timing of 15oBTDC. Optimum torque is obtained for CNG at injection pressure of 2.6 bar and 3000 rpm. Gasoline trials are performed at same compression ratio for comparison with CNG at same injection pressure. Performance and emission characteristics with combustion analysis are performed at optimum injection pressure of 2.6 bar.

Effects of CNG Injection Pressure on Performance, Emission and Combustion Characteristics of Multi-cylinder SI Engine

Experiments are performed for comparative study of heat transfer performance of twisted tape inserts in evaporation of R407C in a plain horizontal copper tube of13.39 mm inner diameter and 2 m length. Experiments are conducted with operating conditions of: (i) evaporating pressure - 3.5 to 7 bar; (ii) heat flux - 1.33 to 9.1 kWm-2 ; (iii) mass flux - 100 to 300 kg s-1 m-2. Vapor quality in test section is varied from 5 % to 95%. Three twisted tapes of twist ratio y= 8, 10 and 12 are used for comparative study.The main objective of this comparative study is to understand the behavior of flow boiling heat transfer coefficient against vapor quality for different twist ratios and heat transfer performance of twisted tapes with these twist ratios. Twisted tapes are more effective for enhancement of heat transfer within lower vapor quality region of 10% to 50% only. Twisted tape-III with twist ratio, y= 12 is the best heat transfer performer and twisted tape-II with twist ratio, y =10 is the second best heat transfer performer. In general, heat transfer performance of twisted tape depends on its geometry and operating conditions. Keywords: Heat transfer enhancement; investigation; refrigerants; R407C; twisted tapes.
