Sqn Ldr Dr Sanjay Deshmukh holds a PhD in Chemical Process Development which was followed by his tenure as a Post Doctoral Fellow at IIT, Mumbai.
For more than 23 years, as a faculty at MIT, Pune, he is associated with the Department of Petroleum & Petrochemical Engineering and he has been a member of Board of Studies at Savitribai Phule Pune University and Samrat Ashok Technological Institute, Madhya Pradesh. He has completed a research project in Thrust Area Programme (TAPTECH, AICTE, New Delhi). This project was on Development of Novel Materials with high thermal stability and high impact resistance. Besides teaching, he has been holding a position of Faculty In-charge for In-Plant Training, Placement, HRD and Corporate Relations. He is also a Convener of the prestigious Petrotech Chapter which has been adjudged as the best in the country by the concerned authorities in Oil, Gas and Hydrocarbon Sector.
He has travelled widely and has visited several Refineries, Petrochemical Complexes and Chemical Industries. He has also participated in various summer and winter school training programmes and workshops organized by the Petrotech Society, ONGC, Society of Petroleum Engineers and Indian Oil Corporation Ltd.
Because of his keen interest and passion for Flying and Flying Machines, he has always stood first in the overall order of merit with exceptional grade since his pre-commission training course and other training programmes at Air Force Training Centres and establishments. His sincere interest in Flying, coupled with a sound technical background has made him an excellent instructor for Aviation Subjects.
Presently he is an Associate Officer with 3 Maharashtra Air Squadron Unit and MIT NCC TROOP was established under his able guidance in 1995. His keen interest, wholehearted involvement and passion for training Cadets, has made this Troop one of the best in the country.
Other than the regular unit activities including Flying, the Troop is very actively involved in hardcore social service projects such as organization of Blood Donation Drives, helping Advanced Stage Cancer Patients, working for HIV positive Children and Women, supporting Thalassemia Patients, offering voluntary help at Old Age Home and Orphanages, Tree Plantations etc.
These activities offer excellent social exposure and environmental awareness to the cadets and volunteers and help them to develop communication and soft skills, OLQs, overall personality, character and leadership qualities. In true sense, this offers a single and complete package for ‘’Value Based Education’’ befitting to the motto of MIT NCC TROOP, “Multidisciplinary Approach Towards Nation Building”.
Since last twenty years he is keenly involved in photography with a special passion for Aerial Photography. His other hobby includes Human Resource Development with special emphasis on simplification and flexibility of systems, exploration of creativity, talent and potential.
