Mouthguards (MG) are used to reduce injuries during contact sports. Thickness of MG material is directly related to amount of energy absorption ability and hence reduction in energy transfer to skull. Many studies had shown that Ethylene Vinyl Acetate (EVA) is best suited material for MG. Studies had been conducted on EVA material to find optimum thickness. As the thickness of Material increases its Impact absorption ability is also increasing. Beyond 4 mm thickness its rate of energy absorption reduces very much, Also beyond 4 mm it is not comfortable for the wearer. Studies were also conducted on the inclusion of air cells in EVA material and showed that its absorption ability increases significantly. But a detailed study using different materials, designs with different combinations were not conducted. So there is a need to conduct studies on it.

Studies on Mouthguard Material Thickness for Minimum Energy transfer to Skull -A Review

Wear has direct influence on the finishing andefficiencyof products. Therefore, at this critical point, when considered the aspects of tool components recovery and undesirable production line stops. Moreover, the industry production growing speeds push the search for higher efficiency level of manufacturing. Main cause of wearing is the friction between contact surfaces by relative sliding motion with some exceptions of braking, the wear coefficient and pressure must be as low as possible to reduce wear.The objective this paper is to find wear and fatigue behavior of En-19 steel material. This work involves Chemical Composition testing of substrate steel material to get exact composition of En-19 steel and it is used for wear and fatigue testing. This paper work also involves wear test on Pin-on-Disc set up.The work uses ANSYS WORKBENCH-12 software to derive the finite element model of the standard specimen. Based on this model, Fatigue life of standard specimen is found.

WEAR AND FATIGUE ANALYSIS OF EN-19 STEEL

Modal analysis is a method to describe a structure in terms of its natural characteristics which are the frequency, damping and mode shapes its dynamic properties. It is a process of determining unwanted vibratory behavior pattern in an engineering component which is subjected to loading conditions. Modal analysis helps in not only determining and rectifying the problems but also assist in enhancing the product design aspects to eliminate the problems from the roots.The study uses ANSYS WORKBENCH-12 software to derive the finite element model of the fuel pipe. Based on this model, the clamp locations are found and fuel injection pipe assembly is produced. In this report we find a suitable methodology to get more effective vibration control of fuel pipe with minimum input. The methodology adopted here gives the reduction of the engine induced vibration by giving proper clamp locations and increasing suitable number of clamps.

Modal Analysis of High Pressure Fuel Injection Pipe for a DV-10 V Diesel Engine

It is well known that a appropriately designed Exhaust manifold is important for the optimal performance of an IC engine. Though, the intake system is dominant on the cylinder filling process, the exhaust manifold has ability to influence the gas exchange process in various important aspects, like the piston work done during the exhaust stroke, the short-circuit of fresh charge from the intake into the exhaust. We know that if the back pressure of Exhaust gases is higher, it reduces efficiency of the engine. So aim should be to reduce the back pressure of the engine. Also amount of pressure drop is equal to back pressure. So ultimate goal is to reduce its pressure drop by changing its geometry, reducing friction in the manifold. In this paper only Geometry optimization is done. This paper presents 3-D simulation of Exhaust manifold of 4 cylinder, 4 Stroke, turbocharged diesel engine(4G11 Greaves Engine) of generator by using ANSYS-CFX code and results are discussed. A Steady state CFD simulations have been accomplished and experimental results are compared for validation. The CFD results gives an idea for changing its geometry.

Geometry optimization of exhaust manifold using CFD

Vibrations and shocks are present in all areas of our daily lives. They may be generated and transmitted by motors, turbines, machine tools, bridges, towers and even by the human body. The measurement of this is very crucial in as per its applications. This paper gives study of vibration measurement using a seismometer in ancient days to the accelerometer today. Study gives basic theory, construction and working of vibration measuring system used. It focuses on vibration measurement using piezo film and its advantages, disadvantages and applications. Latest triaxial miniature piezoelectric accelerometer is given with its applications over other measuring instruments.

Experimental Analysis of Friction Characteristics in Tubes due to Diamond Hole Twisted Tape Inserts

Advancements into the computational studies have increased the development of heat pipe arrangements, displaying multiphase flow regimes and highlighting the broad scope of the respective technology for utilization in passive and active applications. The purpose of this review is to evaluate current heat pipe systems for heat recovery and renewable applications utility. Basic features and limitations are outlined and theoretical comparisons are drawn with respect to the operating temperature profiles for the reviewed industrial systems. Working fluids are compared on the basis of the figure of merit for the range of temperatures. The review established that standard tubular heat pipe systems present the largest operating temperature range in comparison to other systems and therefore offer viable potential for optimization and integration into renewable energy systems. {\textcopyright} 2012 Elsevier Ltd.
