Convolutional Neural Network: An Overview

Data transferred in an electronic way is vulnerable to attacks. With an aim to protect data for secure communication, a new Hybrid non pipelined Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) algorithm based on traditional AES algorithm with enhanced security features is proposed in this work. Abysmal analysis of the AES algorithm implies that the security of AES lies in the S-box operations. This paper presents a new approach for generating S-box values (modified S-box) and initial key required for encryption/encryption (improved key generation) using PN Sequence Generator. The AES algorithm with proposed modifications shows significant improvement in the encryption quality as compared to traditional AES algorithm. The traditional AES algorithm equipped with proposed novel modified S-box technique and improved key generation technique gives an avalanche effect of 60% making it invulnerable to attacks. The proposed design is synthesized on various Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) devices and compared to the existing designs resulting in significant improvement in throughput. The proposed design is implemented on Spartan6 FPGA device.

An efficient AES implementation using FPGA with enhanced security features

Experiments are performed for comparative study of heat transfer performance of twisted tape inserts in evaporation of R407C in a plain horizontal copper tube of13.39 mm inner diameter and 2 m length. Experiments are conducted with operating conditions of: (i) evaporating pressure - 3.5 to 7 bar; (ii) heat flux - 1.33 to 9.1 kWm-2 ; (iii) mass flux - 100 to 300 kg s-1 m-2. Vapor quality in test section is varied from 5 % to 95%. Three twisted tapes of twist ratio y= 8, 10 and 12 are used for comparative study.The main objective of this comparative study is to understand the behavior of flow boiling heat transfer coefficient against vapor quality for different twist ratios and heat transfer performance of twisted tapes with these twist ratios. Twisted tapes are more effective for enhancement of heat transfer within lower vapor quality region of 10% to 50% only. Twisted tape-III with twist ratio, y= 12 is the best heat transfer performer and twisted tape-II with twist ratio, y =10 is the second best heat transfer performer. In general, heat transfer performance of twisted tape depends on its geometry and operating conditions. Keywords: Heat transfer enhancement; investigation; refrigerants; R407C; twisted tapes.

Comparative Study of Heat Transfer Performance of Twisted Tape Inserts in Evaporation of R407C

Investigation on heat transfer by generating turbulence in the fluid stream inside the circular tube is an innovative area of research for researchers. Hence, many techniques are been investigated and adopted for enhancement of heat transfer rate to reduce the size and the cost of the heat exchanger/circular tube. In the present study the effect of differential solid ring inserts /turbulators on heat transfer, friction factor of heat exchanger/circular tube was evaluated through experimentally and numerically. The experiments were conducted in range of 3000 ≤Re≤ 6500 and annular blockages 0 ≤ɸ≤50 %. The heat transfer rate was higher for differential combination of inserts as compared to tube fitted with uniform inserts. The maximum heat transfer was obtained by the use of differential metal circular ring inserts/blockages. From this study, Nusselt number, friction factor and enhancement factor are found as 2.5-3.5 times, 12% - 50.5% and 155% - 195%, respectively with water. Finally new possible correlations for predicting heat transfer and friction factor in the flow of water through the circular tube with differential blockages/inserts are proposed.

Experimental and numerical investigation on heat transfer augmentation in a circular tube under forced convection with annular differential blockages/inserts

This paper carried out the experimental study, through the extraction andcharacterization of crude castor oil and the analysis of castor cake (i.e. residueleft after the extraction process), which can be used as fertilizer .RicinusCommunis (castor), a multipurpose shrub with a variety of applications andenormous economic potentials for its seed oil, which can be used for industrialand medicinal purposes. Via transesterification, this oil can also be convertedto biodiesel, which has many industrial purposes. This wide range ofapplicability makes castor oil widely popular. The oil was obtained by usingSoxhlet extraction method and hexane as a solvent for extraction via a stagewise equipment process. The analysis of the crude oils and de-oiled castorcake was done according to the ASTM standards. All the results weretabulated and discussed. Good agreements were obtained which mean thatcastor oil is a very useful for industrial applications.

Synthesis and Characterization of Castor oil and Deoiled cake as Fertilizer

For the efficient utilization of solar energy, its concentration is required. Central Receiver systems have higher concentration ratio as compared to other concentrated solar power techniques. The solar flux density distribution and the temperature on the receiver plate are important parameters in assessing the net thermal energy, in predicting the performance of solar concentrator and in the design of solar receiver. Here the flux distribution on the flat receiver of the ganged type model heliostat system consisting of nine heliostats has been evaluated by using the thermocouple method which is the indirect method of flux measurement. The variation of the solar flux density distribution on the receiver plate have been estimated for the different numbers of heliostat by using the energy balance equation. For this model heliostat system the peak flux and average flux values are estimated to be 3950.57 (± 3%) W/m2 and 1798.77 (± 3%) W/m2 respectively. This analysis will be useful for sizing of the receiver. For the average flux value on the receiver plate the receiver size for the nine heliostats system will be 0.3m x 0.3m with the intercept factor of 64%.The average optical concentration ratio was 5.6 with the optical efficiency of the system 0.50 ± 3 % during the test period.

Experimental Evaluation of the Solar Flux Distribution on the Flat Receiver of a Model Heliostat System

Preceded by unbalance, misalignment is the second major mechanical fault in rotating machine applications. In spite of using modern alignment techniques like laser alignment tool, the accidental misalignment arises over a period of continuous operation due to many reasons. This can lead to excessive forces on components of rotating systems, which ultimately greatly influence on its vibration spectrum. The study presents the results of Harmonic analysis of the Aluminum (Al) shaft rotor bearing system with rigid coupling, under parallel misalignment, using FEA. It show-cases vibration spectrum due to the misalignment. The results are compared with experimental results based on FFT analyzer for different sub critical speeds. Misalignment effect at coupling location is simulated using nodal force vector. The force vector is found using coupling stiffness matrix, derived from geometrical and material properties and instantaneous parallel misalignment between the two coupled shafts. Based on the FEA and experimental results, parallel misalignment in the shaft rotor system can be predicted almost at all speeds by observing 2X characteristics frequency of operating speed. However to diagnose the nature of misalignment, the knowledge of natural frequency of the system plays a crucial role. It facilitates determination of other dominant characteristic frequencies. An FEA approach is proposed for the first time for determination of magnitude and harmonic nature of the misalignment excitation of the system with rigid coupling

Vibration responses of parallel misalignment in Al shaft rotor bearing system with rigid coupling

Purpose Today the innovative tool used for enhancing the efficiency of Supply Chain Management is Green Supply Chain Management (GSCM). This paper, aims to identify and rank the major indicators and sub indicators that helps achieve successful implementation of Green Supply Chain Management (GSCM) in Indian manufacturing industry. Design/methodology/approach: Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) is used to rank the indicators and sub indicators which have been identified through literature review and experts’ opinions from industry and academicians. Findings: The study categorizes the GSCM implementation strategies into main sixteen indicators and 116 sub indicators. Main indicators are Non-Members of Supply Chain, Top Management Perspective, Eco Product Design, Eco Procurement, Eco Manufacturing, Internal Environmental Management, Green Packaging, Eco Marketing and Communication, Eco Logistics Design, Environmental Performance, Operational Performance, Economic Performance, Performance of Human and Technological Resources, Performance of Vendor Management, Owners’ Satisfaction and Customer Co-Operation. These identified indicators play an important role in greening the supply chain. Research limitations/implications: Here we have used the opinion of the experts from academics and industry to compare pair-wise indicators. Practical implications: The indicators and sub indicators are prioritised according to the importance of their applications. This prioritization further can be used to construct the Interpretive Structural Model (ISM) for cost and efficiency benefits in GSCM performances in Indian manufacturing industry.

Prioritization of Green Supply Indicators with Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) Model

This implementation is step ahead for the current image processing applications which captures degraded contrast and establishes error prone images in fog condition. Long distance images has low visibility. The variation in fog density with distance is responsible for atmospheric veil factor. The implementation includes the single image processing for quantifiable and approximate calculations to construct fog-free images with the use of atmospheric veil to rebuild the contrast the in homogeneous or heterogeneous conditions. © 2018 IEEE.
