The use of activated carbon (AC) as a strong adsorbent was commonly used. This work deals with the study of textile industry wastewater (dye) adsorption on AC produced from Bamboo and Green coconut shell through chemical activation method. The effect of various process parameters such as the amount of adsorbents, initial concentration of dye, pH, contact time, temperature and agitation speed on percentage removal of dye on the activated carbon i.e. Bamboo activated carbon (BAC) and Green Coconut Shell Activated carbon (GCSAC) batch adsorption tests were investigated. Testing was performed for quantitative description of Langmuir and Freundlich equilibrium adsorption isotherms. Based on the experimental findings, the equilibrium was observed in 6 hours. Langmuir isotherm was the best suited for the adsorption of dye, with a maximal adsorption capacity of 142.86 mg / gm. The removal of dye by the use of BAC has been found to be greater than GCSAC. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Batch Adsorption Studies on Treatment of Textile Industry Effluent using Bamboo and Green Coconut shell Activated Carbon

The high security necessities in work and management motivated prospering of biometric technologies. Currently iris recognition is largely endorsed system. An expanding biometric identification technique which offers distinct verification based on distinguishing feature or characteristic possessed by the individual. Here, a fast methodology for classification and identification is suggested. The proposed system advances the effectiveness of iris recognition system. A joint tactic of SVM-Distance matching along with HAAR wavelet packet transform for feature extraction is used. For iris detection, Hough transform and Doughman's rubber sheet model for normalization is used. As in multi-faceted iris pattern, most of the information lies within zigzag collarette area, it is chosen for feature extraction. The proposed method shows a trade-off between two approaches SVM-HD and SVM-MD in terms of recognition accuracy and execution time. Maximum accuracy rate of 99.72% is achieved on CASIAV1.0 database. © 2020 IJSTR.

A SVM based iris recognition using wavelet packet transform and manhattan distance

Computerized numerical control (CNC) turning center plays an important role in manufacturing industries. Reliability and maintainability are the key activities in any manufacturing industry to complete weekly/monthly/yearly manufacturing targets by maintaining the health of the CNC turning center. Therefore, it is essential to prioritize sub-systems of the CNC turning center according to criticality. In this context, analytic hierarchy process (AHP), one of the multiple criteria decision-making (MCDM) tool, is used for prioritizing sub-systems of the CNC turning center for four different criteria, viz. failure frequency, sub-system downtime, maintenance cost, and customer inconvenience. The major 14 sub-systems of the CNC turning center are considered for the analysis. SS, CNC, XZAS, TS, EES, and MT are the critical sub-systems of CNC turning center for the selected criteria and should be monitored carefully. The critical sub-systems for individual criteria are also identified. This case study shows that the AHP is a simple and effective tool for prioritizing the sub-systems and beneficial for maintenance managers to decide optimum maintenance strategies. © Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2020.

Criticality Analysis of CNC Turning Center Using Analytic Hierarchy Process

Corrosion is of great concern for chemical and process industries. Environment friendly corrosion inhibitors are need of hour in order to reduce toxic footprint and to achieve sustainable and green processes. The study reported here is a systematic experimentation conducted to examine the efficiency of Hibiscus leaves extracts as a potential green inhibitor for mild steel under acidic medium. High inhibition efficiency of almost 89% reported for 1 day protection at room temperature which gradually reduces to 80% in 4 days. The mechanism of inhibitive action was analysed to be physical adsorption and the Langmuir adsorption isotherm fitted well to the experimental data. The equilibrium adsorption constant (Kads) and standard free energy (ï?.,GÂ) evaluated for the system are in good agreement with the published values for green inhibitors. © 2020 Scientific Publishers. Storing data in real time along with keeping it secure is the biggest challenge in industry today. Many land issues arise because there is no database which is protected for tracking the real-time changes in data. Also, land records currently are registered in paper format. This kind of data is thus vulnerable to any changes and maybe destroyed by natural or man-made disasters. The emerging blockchain technology is a boon to store any information in real time and is immune to any changes. In this paper, we propose a solution in the form of distributed app (DApp) which uses the idea of blockchain as distributed database, smart contracts using ethereum platform and Polyline API from Google to mark the land boundaries. Smart contracts allow the performance of credible transactions by using sophisticated cryptography and without interference from third parties. These transactions are traceable and irreversible. Proponents of smart contracts claim that many kinds of contractual clauses may be made partially or fully self-enforcing. In this case, along with the self-verifiable clauses, involving banking parties can perform additional monetary checking. A user can sell or transfer a property that he owns or may buy a new land plot open for sale in desired geographical area. This solution allows maintaining land records easily and in real time without having a single point of failure for the database system. Removal of third-party interventions such as brokers from the process of land title transfer between old and new owners makes the process more transparent and cheaper.
