Agro-industrial waste material such as non-edible deoiled Castor bean cake (CBC) is one of the most abundant sources for bioethanol demonstrating the feasibility of utilizing bioethanol as commercial biofuel. This is an alternative to mitigate fossil fuel dependence and carbon dioxide accumulation in the atmosphere. The CBC was pretreated with the help of thionyl chloride at a temperature of 35 °C for residence time 25 min. Subsequently, CBC substrate obtained from pretreatment was subjected to enzymatic hydrolysis with T. viride concentration varying from 0.5 to 5 g L−1 at 35 °C, pH 6 for 48 h. Under optimized conditions the process integrating pretreatment followed by enzymatic hydrolysis for 48 h at 35 °C with pH 7 resulted in 76 g L−1 of reducing sugars from 100 g CBC. The obtained sugar was further fermented at 30 °C for 72 h with saccharomyces cerevisiae as a fermenting media which yields 37.5 g L−1 of bioethanol. A study of different particle sizes of CBC with BSS-5, BSS-10, BSS-20 was done for efficient enzymatic hydrolysis and fermentation into bioethanol. On a pilot-scale 375 g L−1 of bioethanol was obtained from 1 kg of CBC with the same reaction conditions. The present study demonstrates optimized solid: liquid ratio 1:2 for hydrolysis, fermentation process, and the production cost for bioethanol per L. Effects of blending bioethanol with gasoline on spark–ignition engine – A review

Background: Analysis of tertiary mixtures of analytes along with their impurities with simple and cost effective manner is always of interest. Utility of chemometric techniques are growing in pharmaceuticals, it improve speediness in the analysis and also provide analytical solutions with reduce the number of steps in the analytical method. In this study UV-Visible spectrophotometry coupled with principle component regression (PCR) and partial least square (PLS) multivariate methods was applied for estimation of three drugs in their formulation. Method: The calibration and validation sets were prepared in linear concentration range of three drugs and major impurities of paracetamol and aceclofenac. The series of sets were prepared using multilevel multifactorial design. Leave-One-Out (LOO) cross validation technique was employed to get essential number of Latent variables (LVs) that provides the greatest predictive ability. The developed method was studied for qualitative and quantitative analysis of titled drugs and validated as per regulatory guidelines. Results: The results showed the values of coefficient of determination (R2) for all drugs and impurities was higher than 0.99 indicating high acceptability. The obtained RMSE values were relatively low. Coefficient of determination and RMSE values indicate good accuracy and precision, respectively. Conclusion: Proposed method was successfully used for analysis of aceclofenac, paracetamol and chlorzoxazone in tablet dosage form and major impurities of aceclofenac, paracetamol in bulk. © 2022 American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). Review of Enhanced oil recovery techniques

This paper carried out the experimental study, through the extraction andcharacterization of crude castor oil and the analysis of castor cake (i.e. residueleft after the extraction process), which can be used as fertilizer .RicinusCommunis (castor), a multipurpose shrub with a variety of applications andenormous economic potentials for its seed oil, which can be used for industrialand medicinal purposes. Via transesterification, this oil can also be convertedto biodiesel, which has many industrial purposes. This wide range ofapplicability makes castor oil widely popular. The oil was obtained by usingSoxhlet extraction method and hexane as a solvent for extraction via a stagewise equipment process. The analysis of the crude oils and de-oiled castorcake was done according to the ASTM standards. All the results weretabulated and discussed. Good agreements were obtained which mean thatcastor oil is a very useful for industrial applications.

Synthesis and Characterization of Castor oil and Deoiled cake as Fertilizer

The deoiled Jatropha cake obtained from biodiesel plant gives the sufficient quantity of bioethanol required for transesterification reaction (1). The chemical and enzyme pre-treatments followed by fermentation with saccromycesscervesse on optimized parameters gives the maximum yield. Bioethanol from fermented substrate was separated byvacuum distillation on 30P 0 Pc and 1 atmosphere . The sugar content increased by chemical treatment is 30g/lit results14g/lit of ethanol. The sugar content obtained by saccrification 60g/lit results 25g/lit of ethanol. The concentration ofobtained bioethanol was analysed by UV spectrophotometer.

Production of Bioethanol from deoiled jatropha cake

Introduction: Delay in diagnosis of paucibacillary extra pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) and of smear negative TB has hampered the efforts taken by Control Programs to curb its spread. Better efforts to control spread of TB require more accurate and rapid diagnostic test. Aims: To facilitate early diagnosis of TB directly from clinical specimens, we have standardized and validated the use of a single tube in-house nested PCR in comparison against culture and composite reference standard (CRS). Methods: Single tube nested PCR was performed using primers targeting Insertion Sequence (IS) 6110 of Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex. Microbiological techniques includes AFB smear microscopy and cultivation on solid egg-based medium (Lowenstein-Jensen [LJ]) and on liquid culture medium using BACTEC MGIT 960 system, BD Microbiology Systems. Results: The sensitivity and specificity of PCR against culture was observed to be 89.7% [95% CI: 84.1-93.5] and 73.1% [95% CI: 67.4-78.1] respectively and that against CRS criteria was 80.2% [95% CI: 75.1-84.5] and 97.1% [95% CI: 92.9-98.9] respectively. PCR showed 100% [111/111, 95% CI: 97-100] sensitivity for smear positive specimens. For smear negative specimens sensitivity and specificity of PCR against culture was observed to be 78.4% [69/88, 95% CI: 68.4-86.5] and 77.3% [204/264, 95% CI: 71.7-82.2] respectively and that against CRS was 68.1% [124/182, 95% CI: 60.8-74.8] and 97.1% [165/170, 95% CI: 93.3-99] respectively. Conclusion: CRS criteria were observed to be better than culture for assessing the diagnostic accuracy of PCR test. (copyright) 2013.
