The suspension systems currently in use can be classified as passive, semi-active and active. The passive suspension systems are the most commonly used due to their low price and high reliability. However, this system cannot assure the desired performance from a modern suspension system. An important improvement of the suspension performance is achieved by the active systems. Nevertheless, they are only used in a very reduced number of automobile models because they are expensive and complex. Another disadvantage of active systems is the relatively high energy consumption. The use of noise cancellation technique reduces the complexity and cost of the active suspension system. In this paper, a mathematical model of active suspension system is proposed using noise cancellation technique.

Mathematical model of Active Suspension System Using Noise Cancellation Techniques

This paper presents a case study for the selection of an optimum CFD technique from various techniques which are used to study and understand the flow in a Gas-Solid fluidized bed. Fluidization is an operation through which fine solid particles are transformed into a fluid like state through contact with either a gas, liquid or both and behave like a fluid through suspension in a liquid or gas. Fluidization is the preferred method of operation due to its many advantages over other configurations, like good solid mixing leading to uniform temperature and maintaining it throughout the bed, high mass and heat transfer rates, significantly lower pressure drops which reduce pumping costs and lower pollutant emissions, among many others. That is why, the Gas–Solid fluidized bed reactors have various advantages that make them attractive for a number of industrial processes. There is a need to improve the designs and reduce the emissions of these Gas-Solid fluidized bed reactors due to the increasing applications of the same. The fluidization and heat transfer behaviors of a fluidized bed are studied using various Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) techniques and flow models used for gas-fluidization.

Case study to select an optimum CFD technique for aflow in a gas-solid fluidized bed

Disease mobility is curse of human life, both physically and mentally. Particularly, old age faces difficulty in walking, climbing stairs, etc. As per UN world population prospects, the elder population in worldwide will reach up to 2.1 billion in 2050 (around 20%), which is more than double the population in 2017. It is observed that the majority of infrastructures in rural, urban and semi urban areas of developing nations are not equipped with elevators. Individuals have no alternative than utilizing stairs. The fundamental issue comes with an age where an incompetent body enforces to avoid climbing of any type. Literature supports different assisting tools for stair climbing. The use of external power source for driving such tools is a common practice. In this paper, the self driven mechanism is proposed to facilitate climbing. The system stores the energy while regular walking and the same can be utilized whenever required on the need basis. The natural walking style of the individual and its feel is preserved while designing the mechanism. The design further shows scope for similar applications. The detailing of design and the analytical formulations are presented to support the argument.
