The purpose of this report is to identify and examine the critical success and failure factors for Public Private Partnership projects (PPP) and Engineering Procurement Construction (EPC) contracts and comparisons between them. The report provides a brief description of PPP and EPC and the area in which it is adopted internationally as well as nationally. Also types of PPP contracts and types of EPC contracts. The success and the failure factors available in PPP and EPC projects will be described and identified. In further study there will be comparison between the PPP and EPC contracting on the basis of different criteria, such as critical success factors and critical failure factors, conditions of contracting, risk allocation in the PPP and EPC construction contracting etc.

Comparitive study of Public Private Partnership(PPP)& Engineering ,Procurement,Construction (EPC)Contracts

Over last ten to twenty years, a lot of work is carried out on applications which used heat pipes for heat transfer. These heat pipes were carrying conventional fluids as working medium inside them. But in recent years, experiments have been carried out to use suspended nano sized particles into conventional base fluids to enhance the thermal conductivity of heat pipes. It has been found that the nanofluids are responsible for effective heat transfer. In this paper the basic work of heat pipe nanofluids and the effects of nanofluid concentration on performance of heat pipe are discussed. The studied results have shown a remarkable influence on decrease in thermal resistance of the heat pipe wall.

Study of effect of nano-fluid on performance of heat pipe

An experimental study is carried out in order to quantify the net heat transfer from evaporator region of a heat pipe to the cold water poured inside cooling water pot mounted on the condenser end of the heat pipe. For this purpose a setup is designed in order to accommodate five heat pipes out of which four of them are charged with nanofluid in the increasing order such that the concentrations by the total volume of working fluid were 0.1%, 0.3%, 0.6% and 1% respectively and remaining one consisting pure water. For preparation of nanofluids water is used as the base fluid because of its reliability to high temperature and ease of availability. Nanoparticles of the size of 100nm were manufactured in nanolabs and TEM (Transmission Electron Microscopy) analysis is carried out. 20 RTDs (4 RTDs for each heat pipe) were used to measure the local wall temperature; five heaters are mounted at the bottom of heat pipe to heat the evaporator region of heat pipe, and a control panel consisting of temperature indicator, voltmeter and ammeter. A heat input in the steps of 25W is given to the evaporator and the performance is monitored for various concentrations by varying inclinations of heat pipes with respect to horizontal. The tests are stopped after a heat input of 100W. All the tried inclinations (30⁰,45⁰,60⁰,90⁰) proved that there is increase in the net heat transfer rate when heat pipes are charged with nanofluids than that of water

Comparative Study of Al2O3 Nano-fluid Heat Pipes Using Various Inclinations with Water Based Heat Pipes

Image Segmentation is an imperative part of computer perception and it stills a difficult and thriving subject for machine and computer perception. Research in computer vision proves that the segmenting of an image into various understandable regions for subsequent post processing (e.g., scene understanding, pattern recognition) is an ambitious task.In this paper, the proposed system uses various segmentation methods to increase the accuracy of segmentation and satisfactory visual entirety. The segmentation method is based on watershed, modified RAG-RKM and SLIC method. Using the Watershed segmentation we find how many pixels are allotted to which regions. Using modified RAGRKM method we find the mask and seed pixels using which the contour is plotted with the help of pixel value and angle of direction. The SLIC algorithm is used to find the segmentation of image using the angle of movement which takes into consideration the neighbourhood distance, edges of the regions and the area of the region. The proposed algorithm is applied on BSD300 database which contains 300 natural images. The accuracy of the proposed system is very high. Also the algorithm was applied on random color-texture images and the result found was good.

Issues and prospects of Public Private Partnerships

The objective of performance based seismic design (PBSD) is to design structures so that they have predictable seismic behavior. Performance-based analysis evaluates how the building will perform in given potential hazard. In performance-based design, it is an important part of the design procedure to identify and assess performance capability of building and guide the many decisions that must be made. In this paper pushover analysis of multi-storey (G+5), (G+8), (G+11) RCC building has been done. Pushover analysis is a modern and excellent tool for performance-based analysis due to its accurate seismic assessment of the structure. The pushover analysis is performed using SAP2000 software. The results obtained after performing pushover analysis are compared in terms of parameters like base shear, storey displacements, spectral acceleration, time period and spectral displacement. From analysis results obtained, it is seen that base shear and spectral acceleration decreases, whereas displacement, spectral displacement is increased with the increase in number of storey. The seismic response of RC building frame in terms of performance point and the effect of earthquake forces on multi story building frame with the help of pushover analysis is carried out in this paper.

Performance Based Analysis of RC Moment Resisting Frame

Devotion towards own body is one of the important factor considered in this era. The electrocardiogram (ECG)signal is an electrical activity of the human heart. It is used for diagnosing many cardiac diseases. Theequipment’s which provide results at run time and also accuracy maintained. To detect any falling event, aswell as the relative electrocardiogram (ECG) signal of the user, a multi-thread method is proposed with thehelp of new technology of Raspberry Pi and classification methods. Wireless communication is done throughWi-Fi or bluetooth which provides flexibility and extendibility in embedded devices. The goal of this project isthe classification of an ECG signal into normal and abnormal classes to detect type of arrhythmia and toachieve this Artificial Neural Network (ANN) based cardiac arrhythmia disease diagnosis is used. ECG signalclassification done by EMB (empirical mode decomposition) method for accurate ECG signal using MATLAB.The classification performance is evaluated using measures such as mean squared error (MSE), classificationspecificity, sensitivity, accuracy and precision. The classifier achieves the maximum accuracy of 100%.

IoT based detection of cardiac arrythmia with classifica-tion

In domain of data mining and machine learning, multi-label classification is widely studied research problem. The goal of multi-label classification is to predict the absence or presence certain labels of a particular applications those are associated with different classes. In this paper, IML-Forest method is presentedwith goal of improving the performance of multi-label classification over different types of datasets. IML-Forest is based on existing ML-Forest technique. In this paper the construction of set of hierarchical trees and designed the label transfer mechanism in order to identify multiple relevant labels in hierarchical way is proposedto solve the problem of label dependencies in multi label classification. Basically relevant labels at higher levels of trees capture the more discriminable label concepts; next they will be shifted at lower level nodes. From the hierarchy the relevant labels are further aggregated in order to compute the label dependency and make the classification prediction. The problem with ML-Forest method is that noise considerations not yet addressed as collected multi-label dataset may be noisy and imbalanced. This can degrade the performance of learning and accuracy. Noise reduction method is proposed on multi-label dataset to solve the problem of noisy and imbalanced dataset. In this paper the text noises related to low-level data errors are handled.

The research revealed that three major factors, such as reserved strength, ductility andstructural redundancy affect the actual value of response modification factor (R). Those must be takeninto consideration while determining appropriate ‘R’ for symmetric and asymmetric structures. Theevaluation of ‘R’ is done by static-nonlinear analysis using ETABS. Also, ETABS is used to get thesequence and mechanism of plastic hinge formation. The procedure is validated by comparing resultswith Indian standard codal provisions for symmetrical structures and then those are evaluated forirregular structures. The ‘R’ calculated for symmetrical structure confirms evaluation procedure. CurrentIndian seismic design code never mentions about redundancy in structures. While irregularities instructural layout are punished, providing redundancy must be encouraged by the code. The values of ‘R’for irregular structure varies. Hence a single value of R for all buildings of a given framing type,irrespective of plan and vertical geometry, cannot be justified.
