Concentrated Solar Technology (CST) is a device which can concentrate solar radiation using mirrors or lenses to produce temperatures in the range of 100 0 C to 450 0 C or more. Scheffler solar concentrator with fixed focus is one such important CST system. Receiver which contains a working fluid like water is placed at the fixed focus of Scheffler concentrator to receive solar radiations. Significant efforts are being made to analyse, characterise and improve performance of receivers since they have significant impact on overall efficiency of the system. In the subject work Scheffler solar concentrator of 2.7m 2 area with receivers of Cylindrical and Conical shape having 8 litres capacity were chosen. The scope of study was to map performance of both the receivers under General operating condition, with pre heated water to reduce thermal inertia and introducing a tilt or inclination to the receiver. The special emphasis was on studying influence of these conditions on temperature distribution in the focus region and steam generation rate which finally influence efficiency. Numerical analysis using Fluent-15 CFD package and experimental investigation were performed. Numerical analysis using CFD has helped to map changing temperature regions on the receiver under different conditions and thus provide rationale for influence on efficiency. Cylindrical receiver performed better in General operating condition and Pre heated water, While Tilt improved steam generation rate in conical. Preheating of water gave maximum impact on steam generation rate. The result shows good agreement between numerical and experimental values of mass flow rate of steam with maximum deviation 9 % and 10.21 % for cylindrical and conical receiver respectively and thus validating Numerical method. While CFD FLUENT package has been utilised by other researchers for computing Convective losses, the subject work is directed to mapping temperature distribution and Steam generation rate and hence directly the overall output parameter of solar system and thus easy link to efficiency. For any design of end application of solar system such as process heating its important to know steam generation rate rather than losses and hence the subject work has more practical utility. Besides it creates basis for further efficiency improvements by more changes and estimating their implication.

Numerical and Experimental investigation of Scheffler concentrator receivers for steam generation rate under different operating conditions

Due to increased population, lot of emissions and pollutions are taking places in power sector, telecommunication sector, automobile sector etc. Hence there is need to reduce Green-house emission and other pollutions in various sectors by reducing/removing our dependency on fossil fuels. Renewable energy sources is gaining lot of attraction in power sector. The power networks faces lot of challenges in transmission and distribution to meet daily demands. In order to meet these challenges energy storage system plays very important role. Energy storage system is playing very important role in automobile industry & telecommunications green technology also to reduce pollution and green-house effect. Lead acid battery is most widely used in India due to its well-known chemistry, infrastructure low price and efficiency. The real disadvantage in lead acid battery is that it easily sulfates because of improper charging and discharging. This sulfation is more dominant in stationary applications. This paper basically focuses on various types of energy storage systems, their viability for particular applications, cost and life. Paper also focuses on the various techniques used to reduce sulfation in lead acid battery application and improving its life by reducing sulfation by artificial intelligence. © 2016 IEEE.

Feasibility of energy storage systems in different applications for sustainable energy

Diverse models of voltage flicker are established by researchers. Each model has its own disadvantage. In this paper analysis of various models is done. The models consist of various wind turbine parameters like wind turbine tower height, surface roughness of the region, building height if the turbine is mounted on a building or hill height and slope of the hill on which the turbine is mounted. Sixth order model of wind turbine voltage flicker considering vertical wind shear

In today’s world, electric hybrid vehicle (EHV) is a prevailing vehicle technology in that the major part is electric battery and lead-acid battery is the widely usable battery in the EHV because of its cost and efficiency. The real disadvantage in lead-acid battery is that it easily sulfates because of improper charging or discharging. Hence, desulfation circuit or charge controller is placed along with the rechargeable lead-acid battery for proper charging and subsequently sulfating gets reduced. Numerous research techniques are proposed for this desulfation or charge controlling are inspected in this paper. The desulfation or charge controlling of lead-acid batteries done based upon various techniques and our audit made according to various methods such as pulse width modulation, pressure feedback, resonant frequency, chemical reaction and artificial intelligent. Eventually, the direction for the future research is talked about in view of the survey investigation.

A broad review on Desulfation of Lead-Acid Battery for Electric Hybrid Vehicle

Error Concealment (EC) is a technique at the decoder side to hide the transmission errors. It is done by analyzing the spatial or temporal information from available video frames. It is very important to recover distorted video because they are used for various applications such as video-Telephone, video-conference, TV, DVD, internet video streaming, video games etc.Retransmission-based and resilient-based methods, are also used for error removal. But these methods add delay and redundant data. So error concealment is the best option for error hiding. In this paper, the error concealment methods such as Block Matching error concealment algorithm is compared with Frequency Selective Extrapolation algorithm. Both the works are based on concealment of manually error video frames as input. The parameter used for objective quality measurement was PSNR (Peak Signal to Noise Ratio) and SSIM(Structural Similarity Index). The original video frames along with error video frames are compared with both the Error concealment algorithms. According to simulation results, Frequency Selective Extrapolation is showing better quality measures such as 48% improved PSNR and 94% increased SSIM than Block Matching Algorithm. © COPYRIGHT SPIE. Video error concealment using block matching and frequency selective extrapolation algorithms

Optical imaging systems or cameras have a convex lens with limited depth of field. So, multi-focus images are obtained when such systems are used to capture an image of a particular scene. These images are fused to get all-in-focus image. This paper proposes a new simpler method of multi-focus image fusion. Instead of decomposing input image into blocks in pyramid style, the proposed algorithm considers the complete image for edge detection. The proposed algorithm uses the genetic algorithm (GA) to find out the optimum weights from extracted edges and then fuses the images with the fusion rule based on optimised weights. Experimental results show that this superimposition method performs well; consumes less computation time and thus proves to be suitable for hardware implementation

Optimized multi-focus image fusion using genetic algorithm

Nowadays, Smartphone's are being more and more popular as technology is being evolve. Smartphone's are capable for providing numerous services, such as Location Aware services like GPS. They share all the location information of the user to the server. Whenever user submit any query to location aware service, those queries also carries some personal information about user. The query and information is then submitted of LBS server. Someone at server's side may use this information to make user panic. To overcome this, new collaborative approach to hide users personnal data from LBS serve is introduced. An Adversary at LBS may misuse this location information and may plan an attack. Hence Users privacy is a issues to be resolved. We address this difficult by offering a system where user will not be exposed to the LBS, that is users identity and location would be hidden from the server. By using Third Party server we will hide User from Service provider. The solution does involve not alter the LBS server architecture but assume third party servers to significantly increase users' location privacy. To enhance privacy of user, we will add registration and verification system to the model, so that only authenticated users would ask for query response. By this Registration system we will be generating ID's, through that ID's interaction between user and LBS would happen, by which LBS would never know use's original identity and from which user location queries are fired. This prototype helps to examine the effects of several constraints, such as querying rates of user and the lifespan of context information, on users' location privacy. © 2017 IEEE.

Design and development of privacy preserving architecture for mobile users

The current scenario of traffic signals in India is fixed time, leading to more pollution, wastage of time and precious fuel. This paper proposes the method to make traffic signals intelligent with the dynamic signal values on the basis of different parameters. This method shall drastically reduce time, fuel and also suggest alternate routes that are congestion free. There are different adaptive strategies for traffic control but with their limitations of particular region and junctions, it is required to make it more precise for a specific network of junctions. For creating the real traffic scenario, consider that all vehicles are equipped with the Bluetooth devices. Our proposed algorithm shows the dynamic traffic control and traffic profiling for the given time. © 2016 IEEE.

Optimization of signal behavior through dynamic traffic control: Proposed algorithm with traffic profiling

In this paper, we have developed a mouse and keyboard which contains heart beat sensor, temperature sensor and force sensor. These sensors will generate the physiological signals. The signals from these devices will provide us the result for the current user. These results will be processed by the microcontroller and transmitted to the android device through Bluetooth module. The results will help us to determine the user's current emotional state and if found negative it can be altered. © 2017 IEEE.

Inferring user emotions using physiological signals from mouse and keyboard

Web usage mining is a way of identifying and analyzing how users interact with a web site. This browsing data collected as web log, which is first preprocessed and then number of data mining methods such as classification, clustering and association rule mining etc. applied to find out interesting patterns. User's demographic information plays important role in designing business strategies, advertisement etc. Previous research shows some techniques to predict these demographic attributes (age gender etc.).
