Different biometrics studies related to face, fingerprint, hand geometry, palmprint, and iris has been taken place in recent past. In this paper two biometrics, face and fingerprint are considered and associated with each other using transfer subspace learning. Transfer subspace learning can share common subspace even if domains are different by minimizing the distance between their probability distribution. Locality preserving projections is used as objective function to discriminate between source domains. This works linearly and preserves the local geometry of the structure by obtaining the subspace spanned by smallest eigenvectors of local covariance matrix. Proposed framework will be very useful in the forensic applications. Though the accuracy of this system is not very high it will help to separate the most probable suspects. © 2016 IEEE.

Automation is the Technology Concerned with Application of Mechanical, Electronics & Computer based systems to operate & control production. Due to advancement in technology we have seen automization of many things. Here we are tackling the issue for waste management and the first step towards it should be proper collection of waste. And as this problem continues to increase day by day, we need to develop more efficient management methods and techniques. Thus we are proposing an automated garbage collection system using GSM module and also making use of Image Processing to improve the waste management. In this system, a camera is placed near the garbage bin along with a load cell sensor under the bin. A threshold value is set for the camera as it continuously takes the snapshots of the bin and also for the load cell sensor which tells about the weight of the garbage. The microcontroller compares the value for camera and load cell sensor and if the set threshold value gets exceeded then a message is sent through GSM to the control station. The sent message will notify that the garbage bin is exceeding its capacity and needs urgent attention. Thus this system can be a good help for the waste management issue.

As a fluid flows through a subsea pipeline, a cooling process occurs due to heat loss to the surrounding seawater. Wax may precipitate as a solid phase when the bulk temperature drops below the Wax Appearance Temperature (WAT) and wax can deposit on the pipe wall. Untreated wax deposition leads to reduced flow area and to prevent blockage of the pipe a wax deposition model is used to predict the amount of wax to expect. Turbulent flow, single-phase experiments were performed with a waxy gas-condensate. The Hydro model, which takes into account asymptotic growth, seemed invalid for these experiments. The RRR and the Matzain model are available in the transient thermo hydraulic simulation software. Simulation studies have been carried out in order to find out the pressure and temperature drops in the pipeline under various operating scenarios and different ambient temperatures. Scenarios such as steady state flow (CTF Line / SRJ GGS), wax deposition and pigging, Skin Heat Tracing system (SHTS), alternate pumping of oil and water, higher dispatch temperature and additional line from field RRJ to field SRJ are developed. Results of wax deposition and pigging are discussed in this paper.

Modeling and Simulation of Wax Deposition in Crude Oil Pipeline

In collaborative environment (CE) multiple members work together to achieve a common goal. But to find person/source that has most relevant information is a challenging part as the information requirement varies from task to task. Today, people are working in a collaborative environment to explore the ever increasing data and have new insights for knowledge sharing. Analyzing these needs we have proposed a system that finds the most appropriate and relevant documents based on the search query. In this system relevancy of document is supported by expert search method. In expert search, various aspects such as author name, hit count (number of downloads) of document, time span of hit count and last hit to that document are considered and clustering of retrieved results with meaningful cluster labels are identified to find whether a search term is used in the intended sense in that document. In this system, documents uploaded by members are analyzed. After analysis, indexing of documents is done. Further based on search query documents are retrieved and labeled clusters of documents are formed. Finally expert search is applied over mined results. This system helps in getting exact knowledge with quick response and repeating efforts for finding same information can be avoided with efficient time utilization. The performance of proposed system is evaluated with respect to response time of system. Thus, the effective use of knowledge sharing (data/information) is achieved with the Expert Search for time efficient systems. © 2017 IEEE.

Expert search based knowledge sharing system for collaborative environment

Water scarcity has been a big issue for agriculture. This proposed idea is beneficial to the farmers to irrigate the farms efficiently using an automated irrigation system based on soil temperature, moisture and pH. Respective sensors are used to find the soil water content level and based on this microcontroller drives the servo motor and pump. Irrigation status is updated to the database using PC. This technique works by installing sensors in the field to monitor the soil temperature, moisture and type of soil, which transmits the data to the microcontroller for estimation of accurate quantity of water as per the requirements. The collected data is updated from time to time to the server and can be accessed via an Android app. The subsequent watering of plants can be controlled using the aforementioned app. Depending upon the type of soil and crop, the fertilizers are suggested by applying Naïve Bayes algorithm on the database. The estimated amount of rain is predicted using weather forecasting using Web scraper and the crops are watered accordingly, i.e., is a heavy rainfall is predicted then the system will automatically reduce the water supplied to the crops. © 2017 IEEE.

Smart water dripping system for agriculture/farming

With use of advanced image processing software's and tools, it becomes very easy to perform the tampering on original digital images with different intensions. Such kind of image tampering or manipulation is collectively called as image forgery. The main two types are 1) copy-move forgery and 2) image splicing forgery of image forgery. Copy-move tampering is most generally used by attackers in which object of another image is copy and paste in original image in nearly matching areas. Hence to identify such image threats, it is required to automatic computer vision based method which can classify whether input digital image is original or tampered. The image processing based methods are mainly three important phases like as image pre-processing, image features extraction and detection of forged area on image using features extracted. For copy-move forgery detection there are many methods introduced from last 15 years. This all methods are categorized in two main types is active and passive forgery detection methods. This paper scope is limited to study on passive forgery detection methods. In this paper, aim is to present the study on different old methods of image forgery detection using different approaches like DWT (Discrete Wavelet Transform), SIFT, LBP (Local Binary Pattern) etc. The outcome of this paper is to find the current research challenges based on study of different methods of image forgery detection through the comparative study of all recent methods studied. © 2017 IEEE.

Study and analysis of copy-move &amp; splicing image forgery detection techniques

Geomorphic signatures in parts of Koyna region were analysed using satellite images and morphometric indices (stream length gradient index and valley width to height ratio) with limited field checks in key areas for understanding the role of tectonics in this seismically active zone. The Koyna River zone, particularly downstream of Koyna dam wall up to Kajali Nadi, is characterised by incised narrow valleys, steep escarpments and structurally controlled drainage. Presence of knick points at consistent elevations between 825 m to 675 m, steep gradients in an otherwise gradual longitudinal profile and valley width to height ratio less than 1.0 suggest readjustment of the streams along NW-SE and N-S directions. The escarpment slopes in general have en echelon arcuate ridge pattern ∼ N45°-N 225° in the western part, and then becomes ∼N 10°- N 190° near Donachiwadi, almost orthogonal to the E-W Koyna River. The Donachiwadi fault runs parallel to the escarpment slopes observed near Kodoli. The fluvial system in Koyna thus indicates rejuvenation controlled by basement propagated structures. © 2017, Geological Society of India.
