A two-stage Stirling Cryocooler has been developed and tested for cooling IR sensors in space application. The concept uses an opposed piston linear compressor to drive the two-stage Stirling expander. The configuration used a moving coil linear motor for the compressor as well as for the expander unit. Electrical phase difference of 80 degrees was maintained between the voltage waveforms supplied to the compressor motor and expander motor. The piston and displacer surface were coated with Rulon an anti-friction material to ensure oil less operation of the unit. The present article discusses analysis results, features of the cryocooler and experimental tests conducted on the developed unit. The two-stages of Cryo-cylinder and the expander units were manufactured from a single piece to ensure precise alignment between the two-stages. Flexure bearings were used to suspend the piston and displacer about its mean position. The objective of the work was to develop a two-stage Stirling cryocooler with 2 W at 120 K and 0.5 W at 60 K cooling capacity for the two-stages and input power of less than 120 W. The Cryocooler achieved a minimum temperature of 40.7 K at stage 2.

Opposed piston Linear Compressor driven two-stage Stirling Cryocooler for cooling of IR sensors in Space application.

The experimental performance of different heat pipe heat exchanger (HPHX) configurations using distilled water as the working fluid is reported in the present study. The three HPHX configurations in the present investigation include HPHX with single wick structure (HPHX 1), HPHX with composite wick structure (HPHX 2) and hybrid HPHX (HPHX 3) which is the combination of HPHX 1 and HPHX 2. The parameters considered for the parametric analysis of HPHX in all the three configurations are outdoor air dry bulb temperature entering the evaporator section of HPHX (OADBT), return air dry bulb temperature entering the condenser section of HPHX (RADBT), outdoor air velocity (Ve) and return air velocity (Vc). The OADBT is varied between 40 and 24 °C and the outdoor & return air velocities between 0.6 and 2.4 m/s. The parametric analysis of HPHX without evaporative cooling is studied for RADBT = 24 °C whereas RADBT is maintained at 20 °C for the parametric analysis of HPHX integrated with evaporative cooling. In comparison with HPHX without evaporative cooling, the performance of HPHX with evaporative cooling is enhanced by 17% for single wick structure (HPHX 1), 47% for composite wick structure (HPHX 2) and 59% for hybrid HPHX (HPHX 3) for OADBT = 40 °C and at Ve = Vc of 0.6 m/s. The results of the experimental analysis highlights the benefits of HPHX integrated with evaporative cooling for achieving significant energy savings in air conditioning application.

Understanding human emotions is a complex problem. Various tools and techniques have been employed by researchers across various domains to understand and infer human emotions. With the advent of smart machines, the problem took a different angle to try and machines themselves make to understand the emotions of its user (s). Human emotions had to be labeled and then were organized with inverse emotions being placed opposite to each other. Various continuous as well as discrete emotion-mapping models were proposed to identify and quantify human emotions. This paper is the result of studying around fifteen such models and comparing them with each other to come to a more concrete viewpoint towards understand human emotions. © 2017 ACM.

Circle of Emotions in Life: Emotion Mapping in 2Dimensions

Phishing is a criminal scheme to steal the user's personal data and other credential information. It is a fraud that acquires victim's confidential information such as password, bank account detail, credit card number, financial username and password etc. and later it can be misuse by attacker. We aim to use fundamental visual features of a web page's appearance as the basis of detecting page similarities. We propose a novel solution, to efficiently detect phishing web pages. Note that page layouts and contents are fundamental feature of web pages' appearance. Since the standard way to specify page layouts is through the style sheet (CSS), we develop an algorithm to detect similarities in key elements related to CSS. In this paper, we proposed a system that uses SVM technique along with map-reduce paradigm to achieve a higher accuracy in detection of the spam email. By using the map-reduce technique we also try to overcome the two hurdles of the SVM. © 2017 IEEE.

Pipeline plays a vital role in transporting water, gas and oil from one place to another. Over the years, several failures have been reported in pipeline mainly due to aging (i.e., corrosion). The failure occurs when the stresses in a pipe segment due to applied loads exceed the capacity of the pipe. Therefore, it is important to predict the realistic pipe stress at the design and assessment stages to ensure the safety across the entire lifetime. As significant portion of the pipeline is buried in the underground in most of the occasions, the soil-structure interaction analysis is important as part of the stress analysis. Depending on the location of the network, the pipe will be subjected to varying levels of traffic and pressure loads that need to be accurately determined in order to perform reliable pipe stress estimations. Several pipe stress prediction methods have been developed over the years and reported in the literature. However, these methods are either analytical or empirical based models. The former uses the structural mechanics of the pipe by discarding the complex soil-structure interaction effect while the later fully depends on the experimental results. To overcome these problems, the numerical methods can be used to incorporate the soil-structure interaction effect more efficiently in pipe stress analysis together with traffic and internal pressure loads. In this study, the finite element method is used to analyse the pipe-soil system subjected to external traffic and internal pressure loads. Further, the model developed is used to understand the effect of soil properties, pipeline characteristics, and loading on pipe stress through sensitivity analysis. Finally, the response surface method is used to develop a new pipe stress predictive equation using the results of finite element analyses.

Plastic is one of the main components of pollution as reason is multiple Use of plastic like packaging of verities of product multi-fold in, due to low price and convenience in handling, but however, community of people is not aware about its impact on the human health and environment on littering or dumping. So that it is one of the most important challenge and need of human is to improve the performance of concrete and dispose waste intelligently. For that solution to be find out with use of technology to overcome these problems As the Magnetic water concrete, synthesized from the normal materials used for manufacturing of concrete which provides 10% to 20% extra strength to concrete, provides one route towards this objective. Good thing is normal water can easily replace with magnetic water and dispose waste plastic by which quantity of cement and sand used in any concrete mix reduces and we can made as new Eco-friendly material of construction for future.

Experimental Investigation of Properties of Concrete Cast in Magnetized Water

As the feature of delay tolerant networks (DTNs) is open, and intermittent, any node can participate in this type of network. Trusting a DTN node becomes a critical task for the routing algorithms. For the past few years, security techniques have evolved and a lot of research has been carried out in this area. Among these security techniques, trust-based, reputation-based systems, and incentive-based security schemes are discussed in this paper. These techniques are useful to detect selfish DTN nodes and noncooperative DTN nodes. These schemes for DTN nodes are the most common methods to detect malicious, selfish DTN nodes. © Springer Science+Business Media Singapore 2017.

Analyzing security schemes in delay tolerant networks

Now a days wireless sensors are attracting strong interest for different monitoring and controlling applications as they are integrated with the function of sensing, processing and wireless communication. The wireless sensor networks have been deployed for agricultural, industrial, remote monitoring and traffic management purposes. As energy shortage is a worldwide problem so that more attention has been placed on incorporating energy harvesting devices in wireless sensor networks. The main purpose of this paper is to focus on the systematic study of the design principles of wireless sensor networks and to provide technical approaches to address three key challenges in designing of reliable and endurable wireless sensor networks. The key challenges are namely communication reliability, operation with significantly low and effective power sources and multi-tier network architecture. © 2017 IEEE.
