IMPROVEMENT OF BEARING CAPACITY BY SKIRTED FOUNDATION

Fall is an unusual activity and it is a serious problem among the elderly people. In the proposed system, we present an automatic approach for detecting and recognizing falls of elderly people in the home environments using video based technology. The focus is on the protection and assistance to the elderly people. Fall causes a very high risk of the elderly's life that may cause death. The fall incident is automatically extracted from the video data represents itself, unique information that can be used to alert emergency or to make a decision whether the fall is confirmed. The main motivation of this work is to provide such a system which automatically detects the fall and intimate the respective authority. Proposed method uses background subtraction to detect the moving object and mark those objects with a rectangular and elliptical bounding box followed by extracting the features like aspect ratio, fall angle, silhouette height. In the proposed system, an Adaboost classifier to classify the normal and fall event is used. The system is implemented using OpenCV libraries and Python. The accuracy of the proposed system on Le2i dataset is 79.31%. © 2016 IEEE.

Design and Control of Quad-Copter Using GPS and Inertial Sensors for Parcel Delivery.

Resonance is a condition under which system vibrates at natural frequency. Resonance produces maximum vibration amplitude. In industry resonance is consider to be harmful for long life of the equipment as amplitude of vibration is very high which results in failure of the component. At the same time there are some equipment’s and applications which work on resonance principal linear compressor is one such application. Under resonance condition it produces maximum amplitude of stroke with minimum input electric power (Exciting force). A linear compressor consists of an oscillating motor and a piston rigidly coupled to it. Oscillations of the linear motor are directly transferred to the piston. The piston is supported by resonant springs to form a free piston system. The use of linear motor reduces the mechanical linkages like crank, connecting rod necessary for converting rotary to linear motion. Hence this machine is compact, operates with very less friction and noise. It is one of the most efficient available compression technologies. The present work discusses model of a linear compressor in CREO. FEM was used to analyze natural frequency of the linear compressor. Various parameters were studied to achieve resonance at 50 Hz condition to meet the Indian power supply conditions.

Resonance analysis of valved linear compressor for refrigeration application

BackgroundThe objective of the present study was to specify an optimum force system for intrusion and extrusion of maxillary central incisor and to compare the effects of bracket positioning at different heights from the incisal edge in Labial Orthodontics (LaO) and Lingual Orthodontics (LiO).MethodsA mathematical model of maxillary central incisor with normal inclination was developed. Four cases of heights of bracket slot from incisal edge were considered both in LaO and LiO viz. 3 mm, 4 mm, 5 mm and 6 mm. Based on a mathematical model, an optimum force system consisting of an intrusive or extrusive force (F) and a moment (M) was devised and moment (M) to force (F) ratio (M:F ratio) was estimated in each case. Then, three-dimensional Computer Aided Design (CAD) models of incisor and surrounding structures were prepared. To validate an optimum force system, finite element analysis was carried out and force system with derived M:F ratio was applied in each case.ResultsIn finite element analysis, results were shown in the form of vector graph of nodal displacements along with undeformed and deformed models. The desired intrusion or extrusion of incisor was observed. Thus, force system devised from a mathematical model was validated with finite element analysis in each case.ConclusionTo achieve intrusion or extrusion, M:F ratios required in LaO were same i.e. 8:1 for aforementioned heights of bracket slot from incisal edge but different in LiO i.e. 0:1, 1:1, 2:1 and 3:1 for the heights of 3 mm, 4 mm, 5 mm and 6 mm respectively.

Optimum force system for intrusion and extrusion of maxillary central incisor in labial and lingual orthodontics

Wireless communication growth has led to system requirement at short as well as long transmission range. Is has also promoted high demand of compact radio frequency (RF) circuit with low power design. As voltage control oscillator (VCO) is an important part of RF systems, following paper proposes a low power 30 GHz VCO. The preferred oscillator topology uses LC tank over ring oscillator because of its robust phase noise response. The proposed LC-VCO is validated through CAD simulation and shows a wide tuning range with lesser phase noise or power impact as compared to other proposed structures. The proposed LC-VCO is based on 90-nm CMOS process and consists of four MOS transistors and a LC-tank as the major constituents. The design has been kept simple so as to reduce the chip area and avoid any complex interconnect. Due to reduced load on the LC-tank achieved by the proposed structure, the power consumption recorded at a 1.8 V supply has was 0.38 mW. The achieved tuning range of the proposed system was 17%, and the phase noise was -105 dBc/Hz at 1 MHz offset. The performance of LC-VCO demonstrates the performance of low power compact (or mobile) transceiver system. © 2016 IEEE.

Tuning range optimization of a voltage controlled oscillator

In the present work, ventilated disc brake rotors with variable diameter circular pillar configurations were analyzed to enhance the heat dissipation and obtain more uniform temperature distribution in the rotor. CFD code used in this work was validated with experimental results obtained by conducting experiments on a test rig. Experimental analysis was performed on existing taper radial vane (TRV) rotor to calculate the mass flow rate and heat transfer coefficient. Further, variable diameter circular pillar (VDCP) rotor with different configurations namely VDCP1, VDCP2 and VDCP3 were considered for the analysis. A 20° segment of rotor was considered for the numerical analysis due to its rotational symmetry. CFD results were in good agreement with the experimental analysis. The maximum deviation of numerical results were about 15% from the experimental results. It is found from the analysis that among all the rotor configurations; VDCP1 rotor configuration gives better rate of heat dissipation and more uniform temperature distribution in the rotor. Hence for modern high speed vehicles VDCP1 rotor configuration may be more appropriate. © 2016 IEEE.
