Due to rapid digitization and emergence of social media the movie industry is growing by leaps and bounds. The average number of movies produced per year is greater than 1000. So to make the movie profitable, it becomes a matter of concern that the movie succeeds. Given the low success rate, models and mechanisms to predict reliably the ranking and or box office collections of a movie can help de-risk the business significantly and increase average returns. The current predictive models available are based on various factors for assessment of the movie. These include the classical factors such as cast, producer, director etc. or the social factors in form of response of the society on various online platforms. This methodology lacks to harvest the required accuracy level. Our paper suggests that the integration of both the classical and the social factors (anticipation and user feedback) and the study of interrelation among the classical factors will lead to more accuracy. © 2015 IEEE.

As the possibilities and the technology offered by the reconfigurable devices is improving constantly, reconfigurable computing is becoming a research area of interest for many researchers. Till date FPGA is the core device for reconfigurable computing. On the fly partial reconfiguration (PR) is an attractive feature of FPGA, which has opened up new directions for researchers. This feature allows multiple functions to time-share the FPGA resources by exploiting reconfigurable area more efficiently. This paper designs a system using the high performance, high capacity Virtex-4 FPGA for hardware acceleration of JPEG Image Compression Algorithm along with Microblaze and Dynamic Partial Reconfigurable (DPR) using Xilinx's PlanAhead tool to achieve on-the-fly multiple Quality Factors (Q) of the compressed images corresponding to different Image Qualities and sizes in varying application scenarios.

Variable quality factor JPEG image compression using dynamic partial reconfiguration and microblaze

In this paper Levenberg-Marquardt, Conjugate gradient, Resilient back-propagation algorithms are compared for power quality monitoring. Three Networks are trained in MATLAB. Each network is trained with the single algorithm mentioned above. Data for training is generated with the help of numerical model of power quality events in MATLAB. Voltage sag and swell is taken into consideration. The networks are so trained that it should detect and classify the voltage sag/swell accurately. Training performance of each network is presented with the help of performance and validation graph. Trained networks are tested with the help of simulation model. Simulation model is made in MATLAB which can generate sag/swell of any magnitude for any time period. Algorithms are compared on the basis of the ability of trained network to detect as well as classify the sag/swell and the performance of training.

Recommendation Systems (RSs) are becoming tools of choice to select the online information relevant to a given user. Collaborative Filtering (CF) is the most popular approach to build Recommendation System and has been successfully employed in many applications. Collaborative Filtering algorithms are much explored technique in the field of Data Mining and Information Retrieval. In CF, past user behavior are analyzed in order to establish connections between users and items to recommend an item to a user based on opinions of other users. Those customers, who had similar likings in the past, will have similar likings in the future. In the past decades due to the rapid growth of Internet usage, vast amount of data is generated and it has becomea challenge for CF algorithms. So, CF faces issues with sparsity of rating matrix and growing nature of data. These challenges are well taken care of by Matrix Factorization (MF). In this paper we are going to discuss different Matrix Factorization models such as Singular Value Decomposition (SVD), Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and Probabilistic Matrix Factorization (PMF). This paper attempts to present a comprehensive survey of MF model like SVD to address the challenges of CF algorithms, which can be served as a roadmap for research and practice in this area. © 2015 The Authors.

Matrix Factorization model in Collaborative Filtering algorithms: A survey

A Robust Multi frame image Super Resolution Reconstruction (SRR) is a process which produces a better or superior quality, High Resolution (HR) image from multiple numbers of blurred noisy low resolution (LR) images of the similar scene, acquired under different conditions. It produces a high quality super resolution image with higher spatial frequency, reduced noise and image blur as compared to the original images. The inputs images can be in the form of medical images, surveillance footage, digital video, satellite terrain imagery, or images from many other sources. In many visual applications like military and civilian areas the imaging sensors used are having very poor resolution outputs. Due to some limitations i.e. cost or hardware, resolution cannot be improved by replacing imaging sensors, hence super resolution algorithms plays a crucial role in improving the resolution of the output image. The Super resolution (SR) algorithms can be implemented in such cases as SR algorithms is a low cost algorithm and easy to implement. Super Resolution Reconstruction (SRR) is a computationally intensive process. The purpose of this paper is to develop a super resolution reconstruction algorithm which can be useful to real time data and data generated synthetically. A fast and robust technique of Multi frame Super Resolution Reconstruction is presented where frame to frame motion estimation and image registration is developed iteratively using Lucas Canada Pyramidal optical flow algorithm. For the iterative approach, the high resolution image estimate obtained is the solution of Median Shift and Add method, along with Gaussian filter and down sampling. Further iteratively gradient back projection and gradient regularization is carried out to obtain High Resolution (HR) image. A MATLAB based GUI for Super Resolution Reconstructed image is developed which calculates the image quality parameters such as PSNR, RMSE, SD, SSIM and percentage change in pixels value in HR image with respect to original frame. A PSNR plot for different test vectors is plotted with respect to number of frames and number of iterations. A MATLAB based tool is also developed for synthetic data generation. The HR image of different test vectors (real and synthetic) are shown in the form of MATLAB based GUI developed with and without adaptive filters. The change in the image quality parameters like SD and SSIM with and without adaptive filters is also shown in the form of table. The proposed method and its experimental results show that there is significant improvement in image quality, maintaining the edge information and has a higher PSNR and better visual effect. © 2015 IEEE.

A matlab based GUI for multiframe super resolution reconstruction of different gray scale images with and without adaptive filter

This experimental and numerical investigations presents the improvement in heat Transfer performance of absorber/receiver using silver nano particle dispersed in DI water (De-Ionized water).The nano particle suspended in conventional fluid have superior heat transfer capabilities .The absorber is tested for heat input ranging from 500 W/m2-6000 W/m2 in four steps which is suitable for removing heat from solar system, process industries, power plants, automobile systems etc. The effect of various operational limits and test parameters such as heat input, volume fraction, fluid temperature, heat transfer coefficient are experimentally and numerically investigated. The silver nano particle is tested for volume concentration in the range of 0≤ φ≤5 %, 2000 ≤Re ≤6000, experimentally with average nano particle diameter 10nm-400 nm .The experimental results are evaluated in terms of performance matrices by direct measurements of fluid temperature and surface temperature in the absorber. A substantial reduction in thermal resistance of 23. 2% observed for 0.00011% concentration of silver nano particle in comparison with water at same twist ratio. The heat transfer coefficient increases from 29 % to 87 %.
