Rate Control Algorithm for Spatial Video Coding

The work hardening during the forming process is generally ignored in crash analysis. This paper presents computational details of the effect of forming process on crash response of typical Sports Utility Vehicles (SUV). Forming results for front panels of a medium-sized SUV were calculated using Hyperform and LS Dyna. These were imported into the crash model and crash results compared with and without the forming effects. Time taken to generate the forming data by a variety of methods is quantified and the trade-off between time taken and accuracy is examined. LS-DYNA was used for both forming and crash simulations. The effect of thickness, work hardening and residual stresses on the crashworthiness results is measured; crash response is seen to be significantly affected when the effects of forming are included. The paper proposes a systematic method to transfer data from the forming analysis to crashworthiness analysis (both using LS-DYNA), allowing thickness, residual stress and plastic strain data selectively or in combination to be used to initialise the crash model. The relative effect of each of these forming parameters has been examined and the importance of, work hardening on the crash response of the stamping front rail has been identified. A significant change in energy absorption, peak force and stroke of the front rail was predicted, indicating a far stiffer response in the formed rail than would be expected based on the nominal material properties. Therefore, forming effects should be accounted for in vehicle crashworthiness predictions. {\textcopyright} 2011 American Institute of Physics.

Crash analysis of automotive chassis structure considering the strain hardening effect

Polyaniline (PANI) is one of the most extensively used conjugated polymers in the design of electrochemical sensors. In this study, we report electrochemical dye detection based on PANI for the adsorption of both anionic and cationic dyes from solution. The inherent property of PANI to adsorb dyes has been explored for the development of electrochemical detection of dye in solution. The PANI film was grown on electrode via electrochemical polymerization. The as grown PANI film could easily adsorb the dye in the electrolyte solution and form an insulating layer on the PANI coated electrode. As a result, the current intensity of the PANI film was significantly altered. Furthermore, PANI coated stainless steel (SS) electrodes show a change in the current intensity of Fe2+/Fe3+ redox peaks due to the addition of dye in electrolyte solution. PANI films coated on both Pt electrodes and non-expensive SS electrodes showed the concentration of dye adsorbed is directly proportional to the current intensity or potential shift and thus can be used for the quantitative detection of textile dyes at very low concentrations. © 2011 Elsevier B.V.

Polyaniline modified electrodes for detection of dyes

Development of proper ways for thermal management of the electronic equipments is very essential due to miniaturization with semiconductor technology. Various active and passive cooling techniques can be used. Pin fin heat sinks are passive techniques. In this work, an experimental investigations are carried out for Elliptical pin fin heat sinks with uniform cross section with horizontal and vertical orientation also in line and staggered arrangements are considred. Various pitches considered are Transeverse pitch, S T =21.5mm, 43mm, 43mm, 86mm and Longitudinal pitch S L=22mm, 44mm, 22mm, 22mm for 1 st inline, 2 nd inline, 1 st staggered, 2 nd staggered arrangements respectively. The results were oobtained for two heights(i.e. at 75mm and 50mm) of pin fins. Velocities considered were close to 0.2m/s, 0.4m/s, 1.2m/s, 2.2m/s. From experimental investigations carried out we can conclude that the percentage heat transfer (i.e. Nusselts number) is more in case of the 1 st inline compared to all other arrangements. Heat transfer is more by 57.73% compared to the 2 nd Inline with horizontally mounted pin fins. For natural convection good results are observed for 2 nd Inline arrangement and for 1 st inline arrangement the heat transfer coefficient is very less compared to other arrangements at 75mm height and is 8.5308 W/m 2 K. © Research India Publications.

Parametric analysis and comparative study of pin fin heat sinks in natural and mixed convection

To improve the robustness of video transmission over heterogeneous wireless network various error resilient tools are deployed. The impact of bit errors on the perceived video quality depends on several factors, such as error resilience of the data format, error concealment mechanism used and characteristics of the bit error pattern. In this paper the impact of bit error is analyzed and various error resilient tools implemented at the transmitter side, at the receiver and the ones requiring interactive feedback on dynamic channel conditions are discussed. The paper also covers a few cross layer optimization techniques. © 2011 IEEE.
