The increasing use of wireless networks and the constant miniaturization of electrical devices have empowered the development of Wireless Body Area Networks (WBANs). WBAN is designed to operate autonomously by establishing a wireless communication link. Various medical sensors and appliances are attached or implanted inside and outside of a human body. The media access control (MAC) layer plays an important role in deciding the energy efficiency. We do the research on the adaptive energy efficient Medium Access Control protocol used in WBAN, so to increase the network lifetime. The proposed protocols show increase in common node remaining energy, cluster node remaining energy, BAN co-or node remaining energy and decreasing in delay. This is achieved because of dynamic duty cycle and priorities based message passing schemes.

Network Lifetime Enhancement for Wireless Body Area Networks

Background: Congestion in a computer network degrades network performance by decreasing throughput and increasing packet loss and delay. Active queue management algorithm is router based mechanism for early detection of congestion in the computer network. The basic idea of AQM is to sense and detect congestion in advance and to inform the sender to reduce its sending rate there by reducing the number of packets sent in the network and control the congestion. BLUE is an AQM algorithm which uses single marking probability pm to manage the congestion in the network. The major drawback of BLUE AQM is that it relies on queue length to detect and manage the congestion and since the queue length may give very little information to detect the severity of congestion that is to detect the number of competing connections sharing the link. Objective: In order to over this shortcomings we have proposed new algorithm named NewBLUE which has high link utilization, monitors the queue length, requires less buffer space, early congestion detection, minimizes the queuing delay, decreases the packet loss, achieves fairness, avoids global synchronization, tracks the number of user and stabilizes performance measure with target independently of the number of user and removes bias against the busty traffic. Results: After simulating the NewBLUE algorithm with the existing BLUE algorithm, NewBLUE algorithm gave better throughput and less packet loss and delay compared to the BLUE algorithm. Conclusion: Thus NewBLUE which is modified version of BLUE which uses idle link, packet loss to detect congestion decouples the congestion measures with performance measures and stabilizes the performance measure against the target independently of number of user had high throughput less packet loss and less delay compared to BLUE algorithm [3] [6] [29] [30]. Modified Blue Active Queue Management Algorithm

Wireless Communication and Wireless Networking is the popular research in this era. The combination of this is useful method for one step ahead to increase the life of human being. The motto of the research is to implement the protocol on Data-Link Layer, which is the WBAN stack protocol layer architecture, use to increase the life time of battery by energy saving. The novelty in the proposed method is to reduce energy consumption using the concepts of contention window which is adaptive to the different traffic conditions. The experimental result shows increase in Total Remaining Energy, Common Node Energy, Cluster Head Energy and BAN Coordinator Node Energy of Wireless Body Area Network. The proposed protocol is simulated in NS2 environment.

Clustering Techniques and the Similarity Measures used in Clustering : A Survey

Motion Estimation (ME) and Motion Compensation (MC) techniques are used for video compression which eliminates the temporal redundancy of video sequence. For motion estimation, Block Matching Algorithms (BMA) has been widely used among the various motion estimation algorithms because of its simplicity and efficiency. In BMA, search pattern with different shape or size has very important impact on search speed and distortion performance. Among various BMA, fixed pattern search algorithms are the most famous; these algorithms reduce the computational expenses significantly less, while PSNR close to Full Search (FS) algorithm. In this paper we have reviewed in brief already implemented various block based pattern search techniques and present their respective advantages and disadvantages and also review their performances based on the number of searching points and PSNR. © 2015 IEEE.

Survey on block based pattern search techniques for motion estimation

Recommendation systems aim at recommending relevant items to the users of the system. Recommendation Systems provide efficient recommendations based on algorithms used for classification and ranking. There exist various ways by which classification can be achieved in a supervised or unsupervised manner. Since the sample datasets that are used for experiments are large and also contain more number of feature sets, it is essential to understand dataset beforehand. Also when results are shown to the user, big challenge is how well data can be ranked so that user satisfaction is guaranteed. When data sets are large, some ranking algorithms perform poorly in terms of computation and storage. Thus, these kinds of algorithms are quite expensive. We aim at developing classification and ranking algorithm which will reduce computational cost and dimensionality of data without affecting the diversity of the feature set. Dimensionality of data can be handled by SVM (Support Vector Machine). AUC (Area under the Curve) andWARP (Weighted Approximately Ranked Pairwise) algorithms are efficient for ranking of the items which are of user interest. © 2015 IEEE.

Performance analysis of classification and ranking techniques

As population is burgeoning, there is an increase in the number of vehicles on the road and hence an upsurge in the problems associated with traffic management, especially the Public Transport. There is also an increase in the number of accidents and various other traffic related issues. Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) provides the solution to most of these problems by integrating existing technologies with the underlying infrastructure. With the advent of mobile technology and the ubiquitous cellular network, real time vehicle tracking for efficient transport management has become viable. The futile long wait for a bus to arrive can be avoided by Intelligent Public Transportation System. The omnipresence of Smart Phones and their ever increasing power at a very economical price makes them one of the most attractive options for developing IOT applications. Here, an approach based on the combination of technologies like GPS and Android is discussed which can assuage passengers who commute by the means of public transport. The user is furnished with explicit information about the current location of nearest buses approaching the bus-stop on a mobile application. Using readily available Android API's, technologies like 3G network and SMS based services in the existing mobile phones can reduce the cost and size of hardware required, as well as lead to a better output. © 2016 IEEE.

Integration of Smart Phone and IOT for development of smart public transportation system

MAC layer protocols play important role in wireless sensor networks to save energy and increase the lifetime of battery. In recent years, many MAC protocols are proposed to minimize the energy requirements. In this paper, we propose an adaptive WiseMAC protocol to further enhance the energy efficiency of wireless sensor networks as well as for variable traffic conditions. Proposed protocol incorporates dynamic duty cycle as well as adaptive contention window schemes. We have simulated the protocol in NS2 environment and checked the performance. It demonstrates that the proposed protocol is capable of providing higher energy efficiency for the low throughput applications in comparison to other existing sensor MAC protocols. © 2016 IEEE.

Modified WiseMAC protocol for energy efficient wireless sensor networks with better throughput

Some of the key services for 2020+ timeframe involve smart city applications requiring smart grid, smart transportation, smart medicine with connected cars, connected homes, moving robots, and sensors creating the environment of Internet of Things. 5G is the foundation access technology for IoT applications. It is being defined to handle extremely high capacity, high bandwidth, robust integrity, and low latency. It incorporates a range of innovative and disruptive technological advances. Radio and antenna system innovations include improvement in spectral efficiency, evolution of access schemes, utilization of carrier aggregation, and advances in antenna techniques. Spectrum support will not be the traditional static allocation based approach but will involve dynamic spectrum sharing and operations in the centimeter and millimeter frequency range. 5G network enhancements include ultra-lean design, separation between control and user planes, flexible duplex method, adaptable resource management, small cells, Coordinated Multi Point networking, and Heterogeneous Networks. © 2016 IEEE.

Application of 5G next generation network to Internet of Things

When dealing with the reliability of a network, it is important to maintain the network components physically connected. When all the components are connected but then also the end user is not getting the service, this means that there is performance degradation. Such performance failure of a network occurs due to the imbalance of QoS parameters such as delay, jitters, throughput, etc. It is important to detect such failure and find the counter measures for it. A service-level agreement (SLA) is an agreement between two or more parties, where one is the customer and the others are service providers. Every service provider provides certain service contract or SLA to the customer that defines all the aspects of the service in terms of scope, quality, and responsibilities. The deterioration of SLA can also lead to performance failure. In a network, all the services should offer QoS guaranties that are resilient to failure too. The QoS connection requires that the existing routing mechanism should compute a path that satisfies QoS constraints. If all nodes and links are working fine but the performance of a network degrades, then too it is a network failure. Such type of failure is called as performance failure. Performance failure can be caused due to congestion, insufficient bandwidth, large delay in packet transmission, etc. These factors must be taken into account while detecting the network failure. Our notion is to detect such performance failure and provide a path that satisfies the QoS constraints without hampering the service provided to the end user. © 2015 IEEE.
