Unprecedented globalizations have witnessed double digit economic growth resulting in fierce competition and accelerated pace of innovation. As a result inflow of Foreign Direct investments has become a striking measure of economic development in both developed and developing countries. FDI and FII thus have become instruments of international economic integration and stimulation. Fast growing economies like Singapore, China, Korea etc have registered incredible growth at onset of FDI. Though US captures most of the FDI inflows, developing countries still account for significant growth of FDI and rise in FII. FDI not only gives access to foreign capital but also provides domestic countries with cutting edge technology, desired skill sets, tools of innovation and other complementary skills. The policies drafted to stimulate the flow of foreign capital in to India provided much needed impetus for India to emerge as an attractive destination for foreign investors. External factors such as global economic cues, FDI & FII, Exchange rate and Internal factors such as demand and supply, market cap, EPS generally drive and dictates the Indian stock market. The current paper makes an attempt to study the relationship and impact of FDI & FII on Indian stock market using statistical measures correlation coefficient and multi regression. Sensex and Nifty w ere considered as the representative of stock mar ket as they are the most popular Indian stock market indices. Based on 11 years data starting from 2001 to 2011, it was found that the flow of FDI & FII was moving in tandem with Sensex and Nifty. The study concludes that Flow of FDIs and FIIs in India determines the trend of Indian stock market.

Forensic accounting: A tool to uncover the accounting and financial frauds

Objective: To evaluate if quality of care (QoC) provided by hospital is a determinant of ill-hospitalized adolescent's health-related quality of life (HRQoL) from parent's perspective. Design: Prospective cross-sectional study conducted at a tertiary care hospital of Northern India after institutional ethical approval. Setting: Hospital in pediatric department of a tertiary care, teaching medical University in Lucknow, northern India. Participants: Sick adolescents aged between 10 and 19 years and hospitalized for four categories of illnesses, namely, acute infective; chronic infective, non-hemopoetic; hemopoetic disorders and miscellaneous. Intervention: QOC assessment was done using 'Pyramid instrument' and HRQoL by culturally modified WHOQOL-BREF (World Health Organization Quality of Life-BREF). The Pyramid instrument comprises 43 questions to collect information about awareness of eight indices: namely illness, routines, accessibility, medical treatment, care processes, staff attitude, participation and staff work environment and scored on 1-4 Likert scale. WHOQOL-BREF has four domains: physical, psychological, social relations and environment and scored on 1-5 Likert scale. Results: From January 2008 to December 2008, 300 adolescents with a mean age of 12.5 ± 2.6 years and 61.3% males were included. The pyramid instrument showed a substantial internal consistency ($\alpha$ = 0.88, P-value < 0.0001). The mean QoC was highest for medical treatment (0.76 ± 0.13) and lowest for participation (0.54 ± 0.16). The mean parent's report of child's HRQoL was highest for physical (42.8 ± 7.4) and lowest for environment domain (37.2 ± 7.1). Four QoC indices namely, medical treatment, care processes, staff attitude and participation had significant associations with the mean HRQoL. In a hierarchical linear regression, staff attitude was the only significant determinant of HRQoL ($\beta$ coefficient: 23.16, 95% confidence interval: 15.8-30.5, P-value < 0.0001). Conclusion: The Pyramid instrument is a reliable instrument for assessing parent's perception of QoC provided to hospitalized adolescents in Indian context. QoC was positively associated with HRQoL, thus, an increased focus on QoC especially staff attitude is likely to enhance adolescent's overall HRQoL. {\textcopyright} The Author 2012. Internal Branding as a management strategy: a case of organized retail sector

The present study examines the fundamental determinants of share price in India.\r\nThe study employs panel data consisting of annual time series data over the period\r\n2006-2011 and cross-section data pertaining to 6 major sectors of the Indian\r\neconomy, namely, Heavy and Manufacturing, Pharmaceutical, Energy, IT and\r\nITES, Infrastructure and Banking. The panel data techniques, viz. Fixed Effects\r\nmodel and Random Effects model have been employed to investigate the objective.\r\nThe empirical results reveal that the dividend per share has a negative and\r\nsignificant impact on the share price of manufacturing, pharmaceutical, energy and\r\ninfrastructure sectors. These results are consistent with findings of Zahir and\r\nKhanna (1982), Malhotra (1987) and Sharma (2011), that dividend has\r\ninfluenced market price of share significantly in negative direction. The evidences\r\nshow that earning per share and price-earnings ratio are being the crucial\r\ndeterminants of share prices of manufacturing, pharmaceutical sector, energy,\r\ninfrastructure and commercial banking sectors. The findings indicate that size is\r\nbeing a significant factor in determining the share prices of all sectors under\r\nconsideration except manufacturing. Moreover, the book value per share positively\r\ninfluences the share prices of pharmaceutical, energy, IT & ITES and Infrastructure. The present study confirms that performance of the fundamental\r\nratios of the industry will be essential and immense helpful to investors and analysts\r\nin assessing the better stocks that belong to different industry groups.\r\n
