Simple colourimetric method for the estimation of mosapride citrate in solid dosage forms is described. Estimation of mosapride citrate is based on diazotization of mosapride and coupling of the diazonium salt with N-(1-napthyl) ethylene diamine dihydrochloride to form a stable purple colored chromogen. With absorbance maxima at 540 nm the chromogen obeyed linearity over 20 to 160 $\mu$g/ml.

Spectrophotometric method for estimation of mosapride citrate in tablets

Two spectrophotometric methods in visible region have been developed for estimation of ambroxol hydrochloride in bulk drug and in tablets. In method A, the -NH2 group of ambroxol reacts with sodium nitrite and forms a diazo compound which couples with N- (1-naphthyl)- ethylene diamine dihydrochloride to form a pinkish red chromogen which exhibits maximum absorption at 500 nm against a reagent blank. Method B is based on the reduction of ferric ions in its salt to ferrous ions by the drug, producing a yellowish orange chromogen with absorption maximum at 400 nm against the reagent blank. Beer's law was obeyed in the range of 10 to 50 $\mu$g/ml for method A and 40 to 240 $\mu$g/ml for method B. The results of analysis have been validated statistically and by recovery studies. The recovery ranged between 100.6 and 100.3% for method A and between 99.6 and 100.2% for method B. This paper describes new, simple and sensitive colourimetric methods for the estimation of ambroxol hydrochloride in bulk drug and pharmaceutical dosage forms.

Spectrophotometric estimation of ambroxol hydrochloride in tablets

A simple extractive spectrophotometric method has been developed for estimation of pefloxacin in both pure and pharmaceutical dosage forms. The method is based on the formation of ion-pair complexes of the drug with four acid dyes namely bromothymol blue (BTB), bromocresol green (BCG), bromophenol blue (BPB), bromocresol purple (BCP) in acidic buffer solutions followed by their extraction in orgnaic solvent (Chloroform). The absorbance of the organic layer was measured at their respective wavelength of maximum absorbance against the corresponding reagent blank. The method has been statistically evaluated and is found to be precise and accurate.

Extractive spectrophotometric determination of pefloxacin in pharmaceutical dosage forms

Simple colorimetric methods for the estimation of melatonin and pyridoxine hydrochloride in combined dosage form are described. Estimation of melatonin in presence ot pyridoxine hydrochloride is based on oxidative coupling reaction using 3-methylbenzothiazolin-2-one hydrazone (MBTH) and cerric ammonium sulphate. The reddish colored melatonin complex is measured at 530 nm against reagent blank it obeyed linearity over 1.2 to 15.6 $\mu$g/ml. Pyridoxine hydrochloride is estimated using ferric nitrate and 1,10-phenanthroline producing reddish brown colored chromogen, measured at wavelength of maximum absorption 510 nm against reagent blank. The chromogen obeyed linearity over 12.0 to 32.0 $\mu$g/ml for pyridoxine hydrochloride in presence of melatonin.

Spectrophotometric estimation of melatonin and pyridoxine hydrochloride in combined dosage forms

A simple, accurate, rapid and sensitive method has been developed for the estimation of melatonin and meloxicam using Folin-Clocalteu reagent in the presence of 20% sodium carbonate solution. The blue coloured chromogen formed Is measured at wavelength of maximum absorption 700 nm against reagent blank. The chromogen obeyed linearity over 1.5 to 15 $\mu$g/ml for melatonin and 1.5 to 22.5 $\mu$g/ml for meloxicam.
