Diabetic retinopathy is an eye disorder that affects people who have diabetes. Diabetic retinopathy occurs when high blood sugar levels harm the blood vessels in the eye. These blood vessels tend to swell and leak. They also can close, preventing blood from flowing through. Irregular new blood vessels are formed on the retina and eyesight becomes weak and blurred. Diabetic retinopathy can affect people with any type of diabetes (type 1, type 2, or gestational diabetes). Therefore, it is vital to detect diabetes retinopathy at an early stage. In this paper, we outlined the idea of diabetic retinopathy and highlighted the relevance of its methodologies, along with an exhaustive comparative study that helped us to shortlist the best performing model. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

An Intelligent Technique for Detecting Diabetic Retinopathy by Comparative Analysis Based on Deep Learning

MoO3-PVA films hybridized with silver and copper nano-particles mediated by microwave heating were studied for energy applications. The composites films were characterized by Infra-red (FTIR), Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), UV–Visible spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The crystallite size from XRD peak width was estimated to be about 60–65 nm in the nanocomposite. The electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding efficiency of so generated composites showed that metal containing composites have higher efficiency in X-band. The EMI study showed promising scope for application in low shielding requirement areas. The so-generated silver containing hybrid system resulted in visible light tunable band-gap (2.34–2.81 eV). Ag-MoO3-PVA (Sample PV-C) showed more than 90 % photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue dye. © 2023 Elsevier B.V.

Microwave processed metal nanoparticles/MoO3-PVA photoactive nano-composites for energy applications

It's a perpetual human quest and a constant effort of science to develop and design equipment and aids to help physically challenged people live their lives independently and confidently. Blindness and visual impairment are prevalent disabilities that inhibit the independence of the patient and increase the reliance on family members, friends, and guide dogs for navigation and other daily duties. The proposed work outlines a reliable, low-cost, and power-efficient solution that enables safe and secure navigation for visually impaired people. Many researchers have worked on and proposed solutions to the typical problems, but those works have some shortcomings that are addressed in this study. Existing technologies have not focused on optimizing power consumption and reliability, thereby reducing the life of the system. It is vital to reduce power consumption in order to extend the operating lifetime of devices that use batteries as a power source. A methodology has been put forward to address the crucial concern of a gadget that is left on for an extended period of time without being switched off to improve the overall performance of the system. The IoT is entrusted with taking into account heterogeneous equipment that might be severely constrained by its nature and pose problems in the hardware layer of the system. So methods to make the system reliable, accurate, and resistant to failures are inscribed in this study. Additionally, existing systems aren't economical compared to the offered features, lack automation, and lack audio feedback, particularly notifying obstacles. This study proposes audio feedback in multiple languages and automates the command execution, thereby making it effortless for impaired people to engage with the product. Also, the present state of technology faces challenges in locating the misplaced stick, which means the person has to be dependent on loved ones, friends, or caretakers to find the stick. The proposed automated and handy Smart Stick for the blind using IOT (Internet of Things) is a potent Electronic Travel Aid (ETA) that gives artificial perceptivity of vision and discerns environmental hurdles and obstacles. © 2023 IEEE.

Handy Smart Stick: A Guide for Visually Impaired People

Conventional homes have grown to be smart homes (SM) with the assistance of the Internet of Things (IoT). A unified gateway connects all Internet-enabled devices. Those gateways need to be secured by the usage of a sturdy safety method due to the fact safety is very vital. In order to conquer those problems, this observation shows employing Blockchain Technology (BC) for secured houses to make certain information private and safe. To cope with the safety problem with SH gateways, this paper proposes a solution. A reliable Q-learning algorithm with Blockchain assistance is proposed for the SH gateway to save data. three sections make up the protocol Q Learning Algorithm with Blockchain Support (QLABS). First, a Lattice cryptosystem based on Cipolla’s extended Euclidean distance algorithm is used to record and store user data (CEED-LC). Second, while preserving data secrecy and integrity, the proposed cryptosystem offers a small Key Generation (KG) with excellent security. Third, with the assistance of QLABS protocol agreement, the blocks are created with a specific gateway enrolment-ID. The testing results demonstrate how highly safe the suggested framework is against the vulnerabilities by obtaining a higher throughput along with a higher Packet Delivery Ratio (PDR) value. Sustainable building projects gained momentum in the last decade, and the trend continues. It is important to explore the factors affecting the sustainable building delivery process for concentrating on these factors and pace up the sustainability approach. Building information modelling (BIM) has developed as the definitive technology for managing construction projects. BIM technology has features like accuracy and precision that helps in improving the quality of construction. Green building construction methods and Lean construction are the methods that help to improve sustainability and reduce waste generated during construction. In this article, the author would like to propose a methodological framework that comprises BIM, Green building methods, and Lean methods. After implementation author is hoping to optimize resource utilization, monitor, and measure the construction progress and construction payment procedures. The author is believing that after the implementation of the framework, a virtual environment is prepared which brings more accountability in resource usage and tracking of project progress. Work also highlights the differentiating aspects of sustainable building projects regarding project phases and makes recommendations about the timing of services, such as value engineering, constructability analysis, technology integration, and construction management. The author considers one case study of a residential building and prepared a 3D model using BIM. Further, the author put lean tools and LEED-based methodology to produce the standard operating procedure for the case study considered. Then, a virtual environment is prepared using the 3D model in BIM, and the methodology is considered. Sustainable construction by using novel frameworks using BIM, LEED, and Lean methods

Standard structural design work, is a challenging and time-consuming operation. However, the cost increases significantly since there are so many varied blast characteristics. To solve these problems, it is suggested that structural elements be optimised using algorithms. This work employs two meta-heuristic methods to increase the size of concrete frame constructions. These algorithms identify the structures that have the blast design's lowest weight. Meta-heuristic algorithms are used to tackle optimization problems in many disciplines, including computer science and engineering. To optimize the size of concrete frame structures, two population-based meta-heuristic techniques are applied in this study. The Artificial Bee Colony algorithm and the Cuckoo Search algorithm are these algorithms. Optimization is utilised to reduce the weight of concrete frame constructions while still upholding various displacement constraints. The G + 8 model is vulnerable to blast loading with 2.0 tonnes of TNT while being less than 15 m from the detonation area. The choice to employ the blast load in line with IS:4991-1968 was decided. The Nonlinear analysis is carried out using a piece of software named ETABS. The analysis and design optimization are done in the ETABS by choosing the least weight of structure as the objective function. The analytical tool complies with the displacement and drift constraints set forth in the blast design. Multiple "optimizations" of the modules are possible to the procedure. Nonlinear behaviour of a reinforced concrete building subjected to blast load and optimisation using a meta-heuristic algorithm

The resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI) is an advanced imaging method with several benefits compared to functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) techniques. Major benefits of rs-fMRI are easy receiving of the signal, needs minimum effort from the patient, and good at differentiating the functional areas in patients. Resting-state fMRI (rs-fMRI) identifies the amount of Blood Oxygen Level-called as BOLD. These are variations at frequencies smaller than 0.1 Hz to identify the functional variations of the brain. Usage of this BOLD level allows viewing resting-state networks (RSN). RSN are distinct areas of the brain which are spatially distributed and which confirm synchronous BOLD fluctuations at rest. In the pipeline for fMRI data, various preprocessing steps are carried out as a normal procedure for achieving a better quality of data. In this paper, these steps for preprocessing are altered/changed in the pipeline of CONN neuroimaging software, and its effects on graph theory outcomes are explored and discussed. © 2023 Seventh Sense Research Group®

Optimization of Pipeline through Preprocessing Steps Sequence Alteration using Graph Theory for Resting State fMRI

Low power wide area network (LPWAN) is a wireless communication technology that offers large coverage, low data rates, and low power consumption, making it a suitable choice for the growing Internet of Things and machine-to-machine communication applications. Long range (LoRa), an LPWAN technology, has recently been used in the industrial, scientific and medical (ISM) band for various low-power wireless applications. The coverage and data rate supported by these devices in the ISM band is well-studied in the literature. In this paper, we study the usage of TV white spaces (TVWS) for LoRa transmissions to address the growing spectrum demand. Additionally, the range and data rate of TVWS-based LoRa, for different transmission parameter values using different path-loss models and for various scenarios such as free space, outdoor and indoor are investigated. A path-loss model for TVWS-based LoRa is also proposed and explored, and the evaluations show that TVWS offers a longer range. This range and data rate study would be useful for efficient network planning and system design for TVWS-based LoRa LPWANs. © 2023 by the authors.

LoRa Communication Using TVWS Frequencies: Range and Data Rate

IEEE 802.15.4e Time Slotted Channel Hopping (TSCH) is an evolving standard in the industrial manufacturing process to achieve communication between two neighbors in Low-power and Lossy Networks (LLNs). To bridge the gap between industrial operational technology and internet technology the 6TiSCH working group has been established. It defines the use of the upper layers of IPv6 over the IEEE 802.15.4e. The challenge in the 6TiSCH network is to use the resources efficiently to avoid collision to enable the Quality of Service (QoS) in communication. This paper demonstrates the traffic and topology-aware 6TiSCH scheduling technique for the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) network by creating a schedule as per topology and traffic conditions. The schedule is created by considering the node's location as well as the load handled by the node. The technique outperforms the existing techniques by reducing the end-to-end delay up to 20% and the Packet Loss Rate (PLR) up to 4%. © 2022 IEEE.
