Recognition of Handwritten Marathi Vowels using Zone based Symmetric Density Features

Power Systems suffer from various types of faults such as Phase and Earth Faults. These faults lead to overcurrent in the circuits. Numerical Relays embedded with Digital Signal Processor (DSP) can be used to protect the system components as they can perform complex processing faster with higher accuracy and also avoid problem of false tripping. DSP based processing can also be optimized for real time. In this paper, TMS320F28335 based Implementation of Numerical Relay is discussed. TMS320F28335 is a floating point Digital Signal Controller (DSC). Short Time Fourier Transform (STFT) is used to detect the spurious signals and faults more accurately. The proposed overcurrent protection system is implemented on real time basis with the help of AntiAliasing filter and Signal Conditioning Circuit to scale the inputs from Current Transformer. Anti-Aliasing filter is designed based on the fault current simulation data generated using Power System Simulation Software. Fault current patterns generated are analyzed by calculating Fourier Transform coefficients that decide the filter specifications. Code Composer Studio (CCS) IDE is used for the development of algorithm. The paper discusses development of overcurrent protection algorithm based on RMS calculation for single phase circuits using TMS320F28335. The overcurrent relay Inverse Definite Minimum Time (IDMT) characteristics curves based on the simulated fault current data are used as basis and are implemented for Single Phase Circuits. © 2014 IEEE.

TMS320F28335 based single phase overcurrent protection Implementation using Numerical Relay

Random forest is an ensemble supervised machine learning technique. The principle of ensemble suggests that to yield better accuracy, the base classifiers in the ensemble should be diverse and accurate. Random forest uses decision tree as base classifier. In this paper, we have done theoretical and empirical comparison of different split measures for induction of decision tree in Random forest and tested if there is any effect on the accuracy of Random forest. © Springer India 2014.

While mobile services are maturing in the Mobile Computing world, location services have started mushrooming in every day work which are making good impact for humans as well as all moving resources. With this development, serious threat of location privacy has emerged and becoming inevitable part of this kind of services. Present systems do not have concrete answer of location privacy because of absence of robust technology, poor governance and business interest. Modern ways need to be practiced, including Cryptography, Collaborative, Distributed and Internationally legal governance protocols. There are dozens of cloaking methods such as dummy users, K-Anonymity, false location queries, dummy queries, cryptography protocols, etc., however no commercial LBS systems guarantees the location privacy. In this paper, we have studied drawbacks of existing techniques. We have proposed either modification or novel methods to protect location privacy. Moreover we have suggested to analyse privacy strength, energy consumption, and accuracy of services, overhead cost such as computing and communication cost. © 2014 IEEE.

Emerging trends of location privacy techniques in location aided applications

Due to advancement in mobile device technology, mobile devices are becoming an inevitable part of human lives. In context of running massive applications on mobile devices, users can't utilize the potential of mobile devices in an efficient manner since mobile devices are constrained by processing power, memory requirements and battery capacity. To alleviate this resource scarcity problem of the mobile devices, mobile cloud computing is the most promising solution which combines the technologies from both the mobile computing and the cloud computing. The execution of heavy application on mobile devices is augmented by powerful and resource-abundant cloud servers. This is achieved by partitioning an application into tasks such that the computational intensive tasks are offloaded to cloud and after executing task on cloud, results are sent back to mobile device, referred to as computation offloading. In this paper, we have put forth a scalable, fault-tolerant framework for dynamically and optimally partition the application using our proposed genetic algorithm. © Springer International Publishing Switzerland 2014.

Eco-friendly refrigerant like hydroflurocarbons and hydrocarbons are replacing chlorofluorocarbons application.CFC is the most important member of CFC refrigerants. In wireless sensor networks (WSN) there is a need to have self-formation capabilities into an existing variety of composite computing systems. In view of the fact that functionality is distributed over a number of components in a remote area, it would be an undefeatable task to accumulate and instruct each of them individually. All network entities should behave in a self-organized manner that means the global behavior emerges through their operation on local information and direct and/or indirect mutual interaction. Based on the all characteristics, we propose architecture of self-organizing wireless sensor networks (SOWSN). The motivation to develop this model is multifold. There is need to study various parameters of system that are required by the WSN to be self-organized. Hence we have come up with a model that forms a base for self-organization of WSN. This model provides ability to recognize and study significant parameters of a system along with its essential metrics. © 2014 IEEE.
