The location security in current location-based services (LBS) meets threat where mobile users have to report their actual location knowledge to the LBS provider in order to get their desired POI, (Points of Interests). We consider location privacy techniques that work using obfuscation operators and provide different information services using different cloaking techniques without any trusted components other than the client's mobile device. The techniques are then covered according to the random category. It blurs the accurate user location (i.e., a point with coordinates) and replaces it with a well-shaped cloaked region (e.g. Circle, Rectangle, Pentagon etc.). We have recommended the technique where instead of exchanging cloaking data with peers, user queries directly to LBS. We have presented techniques where first technique which provides different privacy levels using obfuscation operators. The second technique for query processing generates the region of different shapes. Third demonstrates regional cloaking and two more new ideas are presented. We have shown effectiveness and performance of these techniques. © 2014 IEEE.

Intelligent techniques for simulation and modelling

Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) is a network of sensor nodes that can sense the environment and send the information through wireless links to a sink. Wireless sensor nodes possess limited processing capability, storage and energy resources. The existence of sensor network depends on the life of sensor nodes i.e. ultimately on the energy consumption during its operation. Thus, in WSN, the efficient use of energy resources is very much necessary. Clustering is one of the approaches for energy saving in WSN. A cluster is a group of sensor nodes with one central entity named Cluster Head (CH). In this article, a new way of clustering for CH selection and cluster formation in WSNs is proposed; in which sensor network is divided into zones as per geographic locations of nodes. Clusters are formed within the zones by taking into account the residual energy of nodes and node distance. All cluster members send the sensed data to their respective CH. Hence, CH consumes more energy as it processes the collected data before forwarding it to Base Station (BS). Dropping of cluster head's residual energy below threshold value initiates cluster reformation. Performance analysis and simulation results are given with variations in number of nodes and transmission range. The obtained results show good performance of our algorithm in terms of reduced energy consumption, increased network lifetime and scalability of the network. © 2014 IEEE.

Minimization of average energy consumption to prolong lifetime of Wireless Sensor Network

Data hiding process embeds data into digital media for the purpose of security. Digital image is one of the best media to store data. It provides large capacity for hiding secret information which results into stego-image imperceptible to human vision, a novel steganographic approach based on data hiding method such as pixel-value differencing. This method provides both high embedding capacity and outstanding imperceptibility for the stego-image. In this paper, different image processing techniques are described for data hiding related to pixel value differencing. Pixel Value Differencing based techniques is carried out to produce modified data hiding method. Hamming is an error correcting method which is useful to hide some information where lost bit are detected and corrected. OPAP is used to minimize embedding error thus quality of stego-image is improved without disturbing secret data. ZigZag method enhances security and quality of image. In modified method Hamming, OPAP and ZigZag methods are combined. In adaptive method image is divided into blocks and then data will be hidden. Objective of the proposed work is to increase the stego-image quality as well as increase capacity of secret data. Result analysis compared for BMP images only, with calculation of evaluation metrics i.e. MSE, PSNR and SSIM. © 2014 IEEE.

Analysis of data hiding using digital image signal processing

Digital video sequences in uncompressed form require huge storage and high transmission bandwidth for multimedia communication. The increasing number of Video over Wireless (VoW) services is creating greater thrust for higher coding efficiency for digital video signals. Efficient coding and transmission control techniques are required to meet the needs of Quality of Service (QoS). H.264/MPEG4-advanced video coding (AVC) video enCOder/DECoder (CODEC) is the latest coding and compression standard from the International Telecommunications Union-Telecommunication (ITU-T). This standard is currently dominating the field by offering a flexible architecture and compression gain for video coding. Due to its high compression efficiency with low compression delay, it is used in many real time VoW transmission applications. Modern wireless networks provide many different means to adapt QoS like low end-to-end delay, efficient bandwidth-utilization and lower bit-rate. This paper presents a design of integrated CODEC scheme with relatively lower bit-rate and improved edge peak signal-to-noise ratio (EPSNR). Several important factors of video sequence are analyzed for achieving lower bit-rate. A new scheme is proposed at Application (APP) layer for video compression, called as Enhanced Intra Prediction (EnIP). This algorithm uses picture structure without B-pictures for real time VoW application. The proposed algorithm is implemented on TMS320DM6437; a multimedia processor, using Digital Video Development Platform (DVDP). The superior performance of the proposed EnIP algorithm is validated by experimental results. It shows that the implementation of EnIP using digital multimedia processor lowers the bit-rate and improves EPSNR significantly. © 2014 Springer Science+Business Media New York.

The concept of multi-tenancy is a single instance of software that runs on a server and serves multiple client organizations. A software application is designed with a multitenant architecture to virtually divide the data and configuration where each client organization can customize its own virtual application instance. This project aims to demonstrate the conversion of single-tenant applications to multi-tenant applications. The project is applicable for every open-source (java) single-tenant application that runs overcloud. As a part of this project, an eclipse plug-in is developed that will assist users to migrate the code and make necessary changes.

Converting the Single Tenant Application to Multi Tenant Application

Automated video surveillance is an important research area in the commercial sector. Visual surveillance and monitoring of human activity requires people to be tracked as they move through a scene. Autonomous video surveillance and monitoring has a rich history. A new method for detecting and tracking multiple moving objects based on discrete wavelet transform and identifying the moving objects by their color and spatial information is proposed in this paper. Discrete wavelet transform can divide a frame into four different frequency bands without loss of the spatial information. Localization in both frequency and time/spatial domains is the greatest advantage of discrete wavelet transform over Fourier transform- based methods. The algorithm uses Background Subtraction and Boxed Based tracking for aforementioned goals. The proposed model has proved to be robust in different types of static background scenes. The Experimental results prove the feasibility of the proposed methods.
