Conducting polypyrrole (PPy) thin-film electrodes were prepared by the electropolymerization of pyrrole on gold-coated glass plates. Films of various roughnesses were obtained by the variation of the scan rates during electropolymerization. These thin films were modified by doping with 6mM of the dopant NiCl 2. The surface morphology of the films was studied by scanning electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy (AFM), which suggested films prepared with a high scan rate were rougher in nature than the films produced with a low scan rate. The electrocatalytic reduction of nitrobenzene was carried out with these electrodes with the cyclic voltammetry technique in acetonitrile containing 0.1M HClO 4 as a supporting electrolyte. The various results obtained show that the conducting PPy thin-film electrodes were catalytically active toward the electroreduction process. The modified PPy film electrodes doped with NiCl 2 were more active toward nitrobenzene electroreduction than the PPy film alone. The results indicate that the roughness of the films played a very important role in determining their catalytic activity. The PPy films that were more rough in nature were catalytically more active than the smooth films; this may have been due to the availability of more reactive sites in the case of rough films. The apparent diffusion coefficients of the PPy film electrodes were also calculated. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

Effect of the surface roughness of conducting polypyrrole thin-film electrodes on the electrocatalytic reduction of nitrobenzene

This paper presents a novel technique for colour image annotation based on neural networks and fuzzy logic. Neural network is proposed for classifying the images based on their contents and fuzzy logic is proposed for interpreting the content of an image in terms of natural language. One of the main aspects of this research is to avoid re-training of the neural networks by training the content of the image. Neural network is not trained on database of images; therefore image can be added or deleted from image database without affecting the training. The proposed hybrid technique is tested on real world colour image dataset and promising results are obtained. © 2012 IEEE.

Colour image annotation using hybrid intelligent techniques for image retrieval

Content-based image retrieval is a difficult area of research in multimedia systems. The research has proven extremely difficult because of the inherent problems in proper automated analysis and feature extraction of the image to facilitate proper classification of various objects. An image may contain more than one object, and to segment the image in line with object features to extract meaningful objects and then classify it in high-level like table, chair, car and so on has become a challenge to the researchers in the field. The latter part of the problem, the gap between low-level features like colour, shape, texture, spatial relationships, and high-level definitions of the images is called the semantic gap. Until this problem is solved in an effective way, the efficient processing and retrieval of information from images will be difficult to achieve. In this chapter, the authors explore the possibilities of how emergence phenomena and fuzzy logic can help solve these problems of image segmentation and semantic gap. © 2012, IGI Global.

The cultivation of algae provides excellent perspectives for renewable energy production and as a source of 'green' products. Algae cultivation can thus contribute substantially to a reduction of CO 2 emissions. This paper describes systems used to cultivate algae from recycle water bottle for biofuel production. For the better quality of Algae cultivation it required a treatment of Nutrients. In this paper we discussed about the construction of Algae bioreactor from recycle water bottle and the treatments of nutrients (Ammonium sulphate, Urea) which required for cultivation of Algae. Result shows that the Algae cultivated from this Algae bioreactor from recycle water bottle is containing large amount of oil than the Algae grow in a rives, wells, ponds etc.

Lock in of mobile number series with Telecom Service Providers has always been an impediment to ushering in healthy competition between the mobile carriers. While India has seen a rapid growth in the penetration of Telephony services, the same exponential growth is seen lacking when it comes to quality of service offered or openness of transaction with the large players. Though the initial enrolment of subscribers to specific carriers has an atmosphere of enthusiasm and a promise of quality around it, subsequently there is marked degradation in quality of service. Customers are discouraged to switch service providers as that would involve changing numbers and possibility of lost calls for the end user. Mobile Number Portability (MNP) is a technology that enables subscribers to switch their service providers while retaining their mobile numbers. Deceptively trivial in terms of nomenclature, the underlying technology that realizes this is quite complex and neatly integrated into the telephony infrastructure. The other significant aspect is the fact that MNP has reached the Indian shores in mid 2010. The TSP's have been mandated to adopt MNP and it has created lot of action and opportunity. The country as of now has 800 million mobile subscribers, as quoted by TRAI. Going by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) guidelines, mobile users will be allowed to use the same mobile number even if providers use different mobile technologies like CDMA (code division multiple access) or GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications). This paper is thus looking into the pros and cons of MNP for Telecom Service Providers.

Mobile number portability (MNP): service providers perspective (pros &amp; cons)

Establishing Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) for precision agriculture has become need of time now but few challenges like energy, reliability, cost etc. need to overcome and serve the application in most efficient manner. Considering advantage of open space i.e. Line of Sight (LOS) in agriculture fields and solar presence this paper proposes the novel architecture of WSN which uses existing Radio Frequency/ Free Space Optical (RF/FSO) link model and hybrid energy source for base station for precision agriculture. Randomly deployed sensors consume more energy than organized sensor deployment hence positioning of sensor is critical factor for energy efficiency of WSN. this paper also proposes sensor positioning method for agriculture fields which covers maximum area and minimum energy. Use of available best routing protocol in the application will add more energy efficiency to the system. Reduction in number of sensor nodes to maximum area will also optimize the cost of project. Overall creating win-win situation to establish WSN for precision agriculture is the objective of this paper. Copyright 2012 ACM.

Energy efficient hybrid architecture and positioning of sensors in WSN for precision agriculture

Right to Education is the primary right of every citizen of India, whether a child resides in a high profile society or in a far away not so developed secluded village. The number of schools in rural regions is very less and in addition to it, students are forced to travel long distances without access to clean drinking water and other basic facilities. More often appointed teachers play truant and do not fulfill their basic tasks as a knowledge provider. In few villages it is observed that teachers ask villager to teach students who has hardly completed primary school and is a farmer or barber by occupation. This study is to know the access of different means of communication channels available to rural people and also access to basic information related to education, agriculture and health. To provide information on day to day activities and to overcome all the constraints faced by the rural people, Telecom Technology is the ultimate solution for the rural upliftment. Regional study of Telecom Technology options for Indian rural education: With special reference to Vidarbha Region, Maharashtra, India

Numerous researches have been conducted for content based representation, analysis and retrieval but mainly for the professionally edited videos such as news, & sports videos not on animation video. The objective is to adapt existing image based information retrieval technique to work efficiently on animation video. This paper shows the use of color feature information when used for the animation video search system. In this proposed work, video clip is accepted as query-by-example and matched video clips are retrieved from animation video database. During the retrieval the color feature is extracted for input video clip using RGB2GRAY, RGB2HSV and RGB2YCBCR color space algorithm and compared with feature vector database in order to rank each video clip according to its distance to the query. We use the Euclidean Distance, City Block Distance and Canberra Distance measures to compute the similarity between the query video clip and each video clip in database. We report experimental result and validate the method on new large database of real animation video. © 2012 ACM.
