Automobile suspension system using magneto rheological fluids

Adaptive Filters are generally implemented in the time domain which works well in most scenarios however in many applications the impulse response becomes too long, increasing the complexity of the filter beyond a level where it can no longer be implemented efficiently in the time domain. An example of where this can happen would be in acoustic echo cancellation applications in hands free telephony. However there exists an alternative solution and that is to implement the filters in the frequency domain. The Discrete Fourier Transform or more specifically the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) allows the conversion of signals from the time domain to the frequency domain in an efficient manner. Acoustic echo cancellation of the frequency domain adaptive filter is compared with time domain adaptive filter. Again results are compared for both frequency domain and time domain adaptive filters with different step sizes. © 2010 IEEE.

Frequency domain adaptive filter using FFT algorithm for acoustic echo cancellation

The power source in micro-grid (MG) is either atmosphere dependent source (e.g. wind generator, solar etc.) or it will be small hydro or diesel turbine. This introduces power quality concerns in MG. It is because of small power number (MW per Hz.) due to limited size of the system and limited resources for system stability. In this paper, a new application of the UPFC is introduced. The slightly modified UPFC can be used to improve the voltage profile of the micro-grid with or without grid connectivity. The proposed method will address the voltage stability concern in the MG using modified UPFC in low and medium voltage system. ©2010 IEEE.

Application of UPFC for improving micro-grid voltage profile

Since the inception of the web searching technology, people have been searching for almost everything and anything on the internet. The ever-increasing dependency of users on these search engines and the dynamic nature of the World Wide Web has reduced the accuracy of the search results and increased the search time of an individual. Today, more than ever before, there is a need for search engines to be relevant and precise to the user's needs and to be able to make decisions about what the user wants to search, and should be able to suggest him similar or related topics of his interest. This increasing need of the search engine to become a decision engine [1] (term coined by Stefan Weitz [2]) brought to fore various creative technological ideas like Tag clouds and AutoComplete [3]. For a better and more relevant search experience, it is crucial that we study the present search behavior of users and its corresponding response by the search engine. This work contemplates the nature of searches made and how they evolve from time to time. In this paper we examine and construe data from various angles and then provide our suggestions and conclusions for a better, more personalized and relevant search. © 2010 IEEE.

User web search behaviour

Quantum chemical studies have gained paramount importance in screening of thermodynamically feasible chemical processes. The current investigation attempts to select an appropriate process for the synthesis of 1,3,5-triamino-2,4,6-trinitro benzene (TATB), a reasonably powerful insensitive high explosive (IHE) through density functional theory (DFT) calculations. Although, 1,3,5-trichlorobenzene (TCB) and 1,3,5-trihydroxybenzene (THB) routes for synthesis of TATB have been well established, this article demonstrates the predictive capability of thermochemical computations for the identification of a viable process. Thermochemical parameters of reaction species have been obtained from DFT B3LYP/6-31G* calculations and feasibility of the process has been worked out on the basis of free energies of reactions and equilibrium constant as derived from standard enthalpy and entropy of the reaction species. The detailed computational studies have revealed that the THB route is thermodynamically feasible and the same has been supported experimentally. © Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.

Quantum-chemical studies on TATB processes

This paper presents an algorithm for content-based bit rate allocation for video coding in order to improve rate-distortion (R-D) performance. A fuzzy tool is developed to analyze different areas of a frame. This tool attributes a level of interest to each macroblock. It is effective for a very large range of natural pictures. Beginning with the segmentation of the original picture, a non-hierarchical fuzzy model allows combining the results of distinct criteria in order to increase the reliability of the system and provide convergence to a meaningful final result. R-D optimal rate allocation is done taking help of the fuzzy model and human visual system. The model developed is incorporated in TM5 rate control algorithm and the results are compared with the same. Copyright © 2010 by the IETE.

Fuzzy Based Optimum Bit Allocation for Rate Control in Video Compression

Direct Hashing and Pruning algorithm of ARM performs well at initial passes by smaller candidate 2-itemset generation and turns out to be very powerful to facilitate initial itemset generation. Efficient pruning technique of AprioriTid algorithm is highly effective for frequent itemset generation in the later passes. Theoretical and practical studies reveals the underneath facts for the scope of improvement for both the algorithms. This paper describes a hybrid approach for association rule mining, based on coupling of best part of two well known ARM algorithms, AprioriTid and DHP with a binary approach which significantly improves the performance. © 2010 Springer-Verlag.
