Indian road network is one of the largest road network in world and need huge funding for maintaining and construction of new project. And in India time and cost overrun on infrastructure project are very common. BOT was one of the most successful model from PPP type. But from last couple of years BOT model is lagging behind to achieve financial closure within budget. Most of the BOT project fails due to not generating minimum revenue. Government modifies the MCA (Model Concession Agreement) time to time to eliminate lacunas from existing model. Recent modification of PPP is HAM (Hybrid Annuity Model). Hence to overcome from this type of difficulty government of India introduce the new PPP model called Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM) in 2016. This model was introduce to reduce the financial burden from the contractor. HAM model is a contractual arrangement made by government to overcome the limitations from BOT model. The financial strategy of HAM model is different than BOT model. In HAM model 60% funding made by authority during construction phase and remaining 40% is on annuity basis. In this paper the strength and limitation of HAM model is found out and identified most influencing factor for success of HAM model by using Relatively Importance Index (RII) technique. And schematic representation of financial model of HAM is generated by using Model concession Agreement (MCA).

Effect of Hybrid Annuity Model on Road Project

In the original published version of this article, an error was present in "Table 1: Phase composition of cement, rice straw ash and microsilica". The values pertaining to percentage amount of SiO2, CaO and MgO in cement were incorrect. The correct values are 20.34, 62.16 and 0.79 respectively. The authors apologize for the mistake. This correction does not, in any way, compromise the findings of the study, either in terms of the methodology, results, or interpretations drawn from the data therein. With increase in demand of construction industry, man has developed various techniques of construction. Post-installed connection is one of the techniques which allows to extend or strengthen the structure without affecting the existing structure. The technology of post-installed reinforcing bars is gaining importance since these bars are being frequently used in horizontal, vertical, and overhead applications in retrofit and rehabilitation of structures. Design of post-installed rebar connection is an issue as proper design guidelines are not yet provided in IS codes. Proper design of anchorage length is important parameter in post-installed connection. Post installed rebar connections, Eurocode approach to design, post-installed reinforcement approval and design method for static loads are discussed. The main aim of the study is to design post-installed rebar connections for existing structure. We have also carried out analytical investigation using finite element method to check the effect of post-installed connections by varying anchorage length as 10d, 15d, 20d and compared the effect with actual designed anchorage length for static loads. Behavior of structure after post-installed connection under static loading is studied. © 2019 IJSTR.

Effect of post-installed rebar connection on concrete structure

Coal mine in India is one of the biggest source of energy production. Coal is the major component used in thermal power plants which helps in consuming 71% of electricity generated by these thermal power plants in India. In opencast coal mining excavation of coal is done and huge area is abandoned after coal is being excavated. The OBD soil which is present at these mine sites is very poor in nutrients that it is usually unfavorable for any type of plantation to be carried out. Keeping this in mind another factor comes across is that thermal power plants are located nearby coal mines which gives fly ash as combustion product of coal and disposal of this fly ash is very crucial. Therefore, this fly ash can be used along with coal mine OBD soil which it has efficiency in improving soil fertility in many ways. Revegetation is one of the most accepted way of soil reclamation and reduction in soil erosion. The suitability of soil for growth of bamboo is checked by planting bamboo saplings in an area of 3 x 3 feet having depth 1 foot in a systematic manner by attempting field trial. © BEIESP.

Management of coal mine overburden and fly ash using bamboo cultivation

The construction boom in Pune is leading to generation of enormous of Construction & Demolition (CDW) waste and this trend is likely to further increase in recent decades. Pune is fast paced city and is known as IT and automobile hub of county with rapid growing population. A city with dynamic construction and real estate industry reinforced by some public infrastructure project of transportation and utilities. Rapid development has led to increase in construction activities in the city leading to increases in quantities of construction and demolition waste generated in the city. In this paper, content analysis approach was adopted to analyse the information collected from previous literature, government reports and information retrieved from relevant Construction & Demolition (CDW) waste management rules. This paper focuses on quantity & source of Construction & Demolition CDW waste; also reflects current scenario of disposal and its effects. It is anticipated that the collection plan could help in management of construction & demolition waste and in reduction of illegal dumping. © BEIESP.

Management of construction &amp; demolition waste in Pune city

The article aims at presenting approach to evaluate the hard tissue material properties of Bovine bone. This study is important in case of designing orthopaedic procedures to be carried out on Bovine subjects. For eg.Braces or steel plate permanently fixes to the animal who have fracture to bone or crack bone. Braces or steel plates are fix to bone by screw. For checking stability of screw we need to know elastic properties of bone. This experimental study provides quantitative representation of orthotropic behaviour of Bovine femur bone. This study attempts at providing comprehensive values of mechanical properties of Bovidae femur, through series of mechanical tests like Elastic properties i.e., stress, strain, elastic modulus, poison's ratio and yielding point of bone. This is attempt to establish orthotropic nature of femur bone of goat and water buffalo using stiffness matrix approach The data of elastic constants, compliance and stiffness coefficients obtained can be used for finite element analysis to design the orthopaedic system for patient. The study represents the parameters like gender of specie, Bone Density, ductility of bone tissue.

Determination of Elastic Properties of Bovine Femur Bone Solid Mechanics Approach

The meaning of sustainability in today’s world varies from place to place, region to region and person to person. In such a scenario the absolute or standard parameters used by various sustainability rating systems cannot stand accurate in a geographically, climatically and socially diverse nation like India. In such cases some buildings which have considerably low impact on the environment are unable to get green rating certification due to the rigidity in existing rating systems. Also occupants in different regions have contrasting perceptions about the relative importance of various sustainability indicators. The opinion of local people with idea about sustainability can be the key in defining affective sustainability practices as and local people have the minutest knowledge about their surroundings and their needs. This article attempts to identify, blend and shortlist optimum sustainability indicators in Indian context by studying the existing popular rating systems (LEED, GRIHA and IGBC). It also aims towards ranking the relative importance of the 7 major domains of sustainability indicators with help of qualitative research methodology.

Blending &amp; Shortlisting Indicators from Existing Sustainability Rating Systems in Indian Context

The road network in India is growing at an exponential rate. The biggest challenge in this scenario is an availability of good-quality pavement materials at a reasonable rate. The demands of these pavement materials are increasing at an accelerated rate due to which good-quality material available in nature is getting depleted rapidly. This may create a threat to the environment in the near future. The rate of depletion may be reduced to a certain extent by adopting measures, viz. use of recycled pavement materials, stabilization of locally available poor-quality materials, and use of reinforced pavement. Assessment of such measures in a limited time is the biggest challenge. This challenge may be tackled by using full-scale accelerated pavement testing setup. However, the full-scale accelerated pavement test is not readily available. Over the globe, accelerated pavement testing setups are developed at only a few universities and research institutes. This paper presents the development details of a full-scale laboratory accelerated pavement testing setup. The calibration of the applied axle load is also presented. The developed full-scale laboratory accelerated pavement testing setup will prove opportunity to test new material/technique which will build up the confidence due to gain of knowledge. This paper also aims to investigate the variation of vertical stress and deformation at the base–subgrade interface of geotextile-reinforced and unreinforced pavement using the developed pavement testing facility.

Development of full-scale laboratory accelerated pavement testing facility: a step toward performance assessment of geosynthetics reinforced pavement

The present work aims at providing structural design and methods of manufacturing of structural components designed using ferrocement panel and light gauge steel. The method of construction suggested promotes fast construction, making it advantageous, economical in many situations. Total twelve numbers of specimens are prepared with three different specifications; each size has four specimens of sizes 200mm X 300mm, 200mm X 450mm, 200mm X 900mm respectively. Also used LGS channel of size 89mm X 49mm X 0.75mm. Two specimen of each type are connected through only screwing and rest specimens by self tapping screw with epoxy. These composite specimens are tested under direct uniaxial compression. Expectation from this research is that this research will be used as guidance for future research on composite system for building construction.

Ferrocement Composite Members Under Uniaxial Compression Using LGS Channel

Construction projects comes across various milestones, resulting into delay in execution of project, hence there is need to improve techniques in planning so that project is carried out within stipulated time. TheLOBST (Line Of Balance Scheduling Technique) is a scheduling method which makes the operations to be carried out effectively and allows activity can be performed continuously and efficiently ineach consecutive unit. Line Of Balance Scheduling Technique is a significant technique that plays important role in repetitive construction project.Lack of awareness of proper method and techniques increases cost and project completion time. It becomes very important to adopt proper methodology while doing the housing project for low income group. This paper aims to evaluate the real application of line of balance in low income housing scheme. Case study of low-income housing project by MHADA at Talegaon-Dabhade,Pune. Also supports the method developed in the paper. The findings point out significant controlling benefits of LOB is comparing with GANNTCHART Method in the project and addresses limitations showing the efficient use of LOB. VICO CONTROL software is used to schedule the project by line of balance technique. It is observed that this method increases line efficiency and minimizes smoothnessindex.
