This paper presents a two stage novel technique for fingerprint feature extraction and classification. Fingerprint images are considered as texture patterns and Multi Layer Perceptron (MLP) is proposed as a feature extractor. The same fingerprint patterns are applied as input and output of MLP. The characteristics output is taken from single hidden layer as the properties of the fingerprints. These features are applied as an input to the classifier to classify the-features into five broad classes. The preliminary experiments were conducted on small benchmark database and the found results were promising. The results were analyzed and compared with other similar existing techniques. © ICS AS CR 2011.

Fingerprint feature extraction and classification by learning the characteristics of fingerprint patterns

Routing in Wireless Mesh Algorithm is concerned with finding good source destination paths and has been an active research area since many years. Much of the work is focused on the improvement of global resources, or on the performance of individual transfers. Either case, the routing problem can be casted as a multi-objective with objectives such as load-balancing, end-to-end delay and path capacity. But if real-time applications are needed then the bounded end-to-end delay as an QoS parameter can be used. This can be found by the Mesh routing Algorithm (MRA). But there is also a need to find the effect of changing the link capacity(rate of link) and the effect of changing inter-arrival time between two packets for these capacity values. This paper does the analysis of the MRA algorithm to see the effect of changing these parameters and find the PDR(Packet Delivery Ratio) and bounded end-to-end delay. Through extensive simulation we have observed that the PDR of a network changes as the link capacity and the inter-arrival time between the packets and also between two nodes changes. {\textcopyright} 2011 IEEE.

CAPTCHA (Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart) is a computer-generated test that humans can pass but current computer systems cannot. CAPTCHA provide a method for automatically distinguishing a human from a computer program, and therefore can protect Web services from abuse by so-called bots. Most CAPTCHA consist of distorted images, usually text, for which a user must provide some description. Unfortunately, visual CAPTCHA limit access to the millions of visually impaired people using the Web. The Audio/Voice based CAPTCHA was created to solve this accessibility issue; however, the security of Audio based CAPTCHA was never formally tested. Some Visual CAPTCHA have been broken using machine learning techniques, and we propose using similar ideas to test the security of Audio based CAPTCHA. Audio-based CAPTCHA is generally composed of a set of words to be identified, layered on top of noise. To analyze the security of CAPTCHA it is essential to break it. This breaking of Audio based CAPTCHA has two steps first remove noise and then convert it to text. This paper addresses algorithm for adaptive noise reduction from Audio based CAPTCHA and thus in turn help to determine strength of CAPTCHA. The result shows accuracy up to 80% for Audio based CAPTCHA taken from popular Web sites. Such accuracy is enough to consider these CAPTCHA can be broken after converting to Text form. © 2011 IEEE.

Mobile Technology is growing rapidly. Usages of smart phones are increased for critical financial applications. This leads to many security issues as well. Implementing security features into such critical financial applications can minimize the transaction risk .Traditionally RSA, DH public key cryptography algorithms has been used. However ECC has proven results for smaller key size requirement which is more useful for resource constrained devices that take less memory, less bandwidth and less power consumption. In our paper, we have proved ECC's strength with respect to RSA. This paper contributes on implementation of ECC over GF (2m) for smart phone OS which is used in mobile devices. Our experiment shows that ECC takes less computation time efforts than RSA when key size becomes greater than 512 bits which is advantageous on mobile or smart phones. In our implementation memory consumption is reduced as we are computing elliptic curve points dynamically when we need it and cipher text size is also reduced. We are avoiding cryptanalytic attack by eliminating same cipher text pattern generation. An experiment study is conducted on android OS which is one of the popular smart phone OS to show the effectiveness of proposed algorithm and also addressed cryptanalytic attack. © 2011 Springer-Verlag.

Elliptic curve cryptography for smart phone OS

This paper discusses the error performance of Space- Time Trellis Code system over fading channels. Multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) technology constitutes a breakthrough in the design of wireless communications systems, and is already at the core of several wireless standards. It offers high data rate and excellent throughput of wireless communication system. Trellis-code modulation (TCM) is one of the bandwidth efficient coding modulation techniques used in digital communications system. Here we discuss the design criteria for fading channels, employs that transmit and receive antenna diversity. It is observed from the simulation results that the code performance is improved by increasing the number of states. Also it provided the coding advantage as the number of states and receives antennas increases. The simulation have been conducted for 4 Phase Shift Keying (PSK) with data rate 2 b/Hz/s for two transmit and two receive antennas (NT=NR=2) system, provided better performance using 64 states STTC encoder. © 2011 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
