MapReduce has been widely applied in various fields of data and compute intensive applications and also it is important programming model for cloud computing. Hadoop is an open-source implementation of MapReduce which operates on terabytes of data using commodity hardware. We have applied this Hadoop MapReduce programming model for analyzing web log files so that we could get hit count of specific web application. This system uses Hadoop file system to store log file and results are evaluated using Map and Reduce function. Experimental results show hit count for each field in log file. Also due to MapReduce runtime parallelization response time is reduced. © 2014 IEEE.

In Distributed Sensor Network congestion becomes a major problem. In case of congestion, system requires more power to deliver data. Congestion leads to indiscriminate dropping of data, i.e. Data of more importance might be dropped while others of less importance are delivered. The proposed system uses data prioritization. Advanced Congestion Aware Routing (A-CAR) is a priority aware routing protocol. A-CAR dynamically discovers the routing zone and enforces differentiated routing based on routing zone and data priority. High priority packets are routed inside the routing zone and low priority packets generated outside the routing zone uses off-routing zone nodes only for routing. In effect, routing zone nodes are dedicated to serving high priority data, thereby providing better service. A-MCAR (Advanced mobile congestion aware routing protocol) provides mobile and lightweight routing zones to address sensor networks with mobile HP data sources and/or bursty HP traffic. In A-MCAR as node moves ahead, nodes coming in the range of moving node changes to HP mode and the nodes out of the range are in LP mode. © 2014 IEEE.

As the technology is developing with a huge rate, the functionality of smartphone is also getting higher. But the smartphones have some resource constraints like processing power, battery capacity, limited bandwidth for connecting to the Internet, etc. Therefore, to improve the performance of smartphone in terms of processing power, battery and memory, the technology namely, augmented execution is the best solution in the mobile cloud computing (MCC) scenario. Mobile cloud computing works as the combination of mobile computing and cloud computing. Augmented execution alleviates the problem of resource scarcity of smartphone. To get the benefits from the resource-abundant clouds, massive computation intensive tasks are partitioned and migrated to the cloud side for the execution. After executing the task at the cloud side, the results are sent back to the smartphone. This method is called as the computation offloading. The given survey paper focuses on the partitioning techniques in mobile cloud computing. © 2014 IEEE.
