Concentrated solar energy (CSE) is being used for material processing. In this work, CSE is applied for soldering and named as the “Concentrated Solar Energy Soldering (CSES) technique”. A Fresnel lens along with a two-axis sun tracker to concentrate the solar energy required for soldering is used. Cu substrates are soldered with CSES technique using SAC 305 &amp; SACX 0307 lead-free solders. Feasibility study along with the initial results are discussed. CSES technique, a green technology is found to be encouraging. The CSES technique can be used to solder on-site electronics components used in nuclear, space, automobiles, computer hardware, electronic circuits used in process equipment's, etc. Specifically, in the remote areas CSES will be useful to solder various components, circuits, etc.

Novel Concentrated Solar Energy Soldering (CSES) Technique“ a Feasibility Study

Long-range communication technologies are increasingly used due to the internet of things (IoT) deployments and their ability to perform for long-range and low power while providing a multiyear battery life. In this paper, we study security management, counter management, message acknowledgment, and vulnerabilities of LoRaWAN. We propose a jamming attack to interfere or disrupt the LoRa network by using software-defined radio-based universal software radio peripheral (USRP), GNU radio, and LoRa devices. Our analysis shows that LoRa transmission gets affected because of the coexistence of other LoRa transmission. While the impact of the interference and the effect of the imperfect orthogonality of spreading factor (SF) much depend upon the distance between LoRa communicating devices and the interference source. © 2019 IEEE.

Impact of Interference on LoRaWAN Link Performance

Due to complex monitoring systems in various business domains, secrecy and privacy has become critical issue for movable resources including human being. In a mobile object monitoring systems, balancing computing resources and quality of privacy is required. Objects can be mobile devices, users or any other moving entity. This work is presented in wireless sensor network environment. Earlier work does not consider presence of mobile objects in 3D space. We can observe that objects also carry Z axis in city area where high rise buildings are present. Earlier monitoring applications are mainly designed in two dimensional space to protect privacy. Our novelty is to suggest and design mechanism that reflect Z position (height) of mobile objects for protecting privacy. While calculating cloaking area and counting of objects, height is also considered as third dimension. This results in better location privacy as compared to the privacy delivered by the scheme that considers two dimensional space. We have presented performance, communications cost, privacy strength of modified 3D quality algorithm and 3D resource algorithm. Moreover, we present novel containment resolution algorithm that handles duplicate counting due to 3D presence of wireless system and mobile devices.

Privacy Aware Monitoring of Mobile Users in Sensor Networks Environment

The salp swarm algorithm (SSA) and the multi-target salp swarm algorithm (MSSA) have made progress towards various benchmark test capacities to aid and demonstrate the execution of the algorithm. This chapter aims to assess the SSA and MSSA and compare them with actual outcomes. It analyzes the SSA for various test functions and problems. In these types of problems, the arrangement must fulfill a few conditions known as constraints. The types of constraints are: equality constraints, inequality constraints and whole number constraints. The set that fulfills all constraints in the issue is known as the feasible set. Constrained and unconstrained optimization test functions were used to validate the results obtained from the SSA and MSSA. Furthermore, the MSSA was used for the validation of the results of a real-world application, i.e. a cantilever beam. The MSSA offers competitive solutions compared with the other multi-objective algorithms and it offers a wider range of non-dominated solutions.

Development of a Multi‐objective Salp Swarm Algorithm for Benchmark Functions and Real‐world Problems

Polypropylene (PP)-Flyash (FA) composites containing natural banana fiber (NF) treated by Maleic anhydride and NaOH are reported here. Mechanical properties such asflexural modulus and impact strength were improved considerably which were maximum for 20% fly ash filled PP-NF treated composites. There is extensive nucleation of theα crystalline phase of PP in presence of the additives. This changed to mixed α phase with slight β content in presence of FA and treated NF as confirmed by XRD and DSC. The results on the mechanical properties have been explained on the basis of structure development of PP in presence of fly ash and treated NF. The results have also been analyzed with the help of different models for filled polymer composites and using rule of mixtures of two composites to form final ternary hybrid composite. Some agreement is found if a factor is introduced for redistribution of fibers due to added FA as third component. However, the synergistic behavior at certain composition can be explained on the basis of crystalline structure and nucleation due to the additives.

Structure, mechanical and thermal properties of polypropylene based hybrid composites with banana fiber and fly ash

In the new era of competitive world, need has been increased tremendously for the development of lightweight, low cost, an efficient, corrosion resistive, high reflectivity, tough conducive materials. Many researchers have used aluminum alloys to investigate the effects of added alloys on various properties of the material. Pure aluminium is a weak, soft and ductile material, but adding a small amount of impurity in aluminium, its properties such as tensile strength and hardness can be increased considerably. Aluminum alloy composites are better in thermal expansion coefficient, corrosion resistance, wear resistance and other mechanical properties. Metal matrix composites are advanced materials, which combine reinforcement materials to produce composite materials, which are designed to obtain different properties like stiffness, impact resistance or use in high temperature environments. Nanocomposite is emerging as advanced materials with high strength for the industrial applications that have capacity to satisfy recent demands of advanced engineering applications. In this paper, an emphasis is given on collecting, analyzing and concluding very vast amount of work on the formation and characterization of metal matrix composites and nanocomposites and to find out gaps in recent related research and developments. © TJPRC Pvt. Formation and characterization of aluminium metal matrix nanocomposites

Dementia is one of the most prevalent conditions faced by the elderly caused by specific brain cell damage. Various effects of dementia include a loss of memory, reduction in problem solving ability, analytical skills, and decision making capability. Few systems have been developed for the early detection of dementia. Existing systems depend largely on hardware e.g. sensors, gateways. Factors like maintainability and sustainability compromise the efficiency of such systems. This paper presents a novel approach towards the early detection of dementia and aims at eliminating some of the challenges posed by these systems. It also provides a comparati ve study of the cognitive abilities of healthy old-age people and those afflicted by dementia. © 2019 IEEE.

Semi-Invasive System for Detecting and Monitoring Dementia Patients

In latest years driver's inattention is a prime cause of traffic accidents. Driver in-attentiveness is categorized as: 1) distraction 2) drowsiness. Due to this driver's perception level and decision making capability is decreased and hence control over vehicle of driver goes off. To reduce the accidents due to driver being inattentive it is essential for continuously monitoring the driver and driving behavior and alerting the driver if he gets distracted and drowsy. Research is carried out in this area for decades. In advance if it is possible to identify unsafe driving this would prevent accidents. There are some leading automobile companies those have already incorporated this driver assistance system is discussed in this review. This paper provides an overview of current driver alertness system and different methods of detection of driver being attentive. © 2019 IEEE.

Driver Inattention Monitoring System: A Review

Road Traffic Recognition is very important in many applications, such as automated deployment, traffic mapping, and vehicle tracking. Proposed traffic sign recognition system tails the transfer learning method that is frequently used in neural network uses. The benefit of expending this technique is that the initially network has been trained with a rich set of features appropriate to a wide range of images. Once the network is trained, learning can be transferred to the new activity adjustment to the network. Firsthand Indian traffic sign dataset is used.New results exhibit that the suggested method can accomplish modest outcomes when matched with other related techniques. © BEIESP.

Transfer learning based traffic sign recognition system for surveillance application

Indoor Navigation system is gaining lot of importance these days. It is particularly important to locate places inside a large university campus, Airport, Railway station or Museum. There are many mobile applications developed recently using different techniques. The work proposed in this paper is focusing on the need of visually challenged people while navigating in indoor environment. The approach proposed here implements the system using Beacon. The application developed with the system gives audio guidance to the user for navigation.
