Soil Stabilization by Coarse Sand for Different Soils and Pavement Cost Evaluation

Considering the extent of money involved in real estate, there is a need of accurate prediction of value of a property which can be achieved through application of some artificial intelligence technique. This study mainly focuses on case study of Pune city in India and tries to predict value of commercial properties in the study area. The prime aim of the present investigation is to study the ascertaining value of property using neural networks. The results show 99% correlation coefficient for selected combination of cases with a high percentage rate of prediction. This study would help the prospective buyer to make the best buying decision so as to gain maximum returns in future.

Model for Rate Prediction of Commercial Properties in PMC

This paper attempts to contribute to the research by suggesting 3 models – one relating the current measured on the geopathic stress zone with the body voltage of the drivers, secondly the average number of accidents with respect to the body voltage and thirdly the average number of accidents with respect to the current on the geopathic zone. In this paper the geopathic stress is one of the cause for road accident has been studied. For this, in all 50 accident spots were selected on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, the Mumbai-Bangalore highway NH-4, the Pune-Nagar highway and the Mumbai-Pune National highway.

Road Accident Prediction Models based on Geopathic Stress

TaqMan probe-based quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) specific to the biomarker reductive dehalogenase (RDase) genes is a widely accepted molecular biological tool (MBT) for determining the abundance of Dehalococcoides sp. in groundwater samples from chlorinated solvent-contaminated sites. However, there are significant costs associated with this MBT. In this study, we describe an approach that requires only low-cost laboratory equipment (a bench top centrifuge and a water bath) and requires less time and resources compared to qPCR. The method involves the concentration of biomass from groundwater, without DNA extraction, and loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) of the cell templates. The amplification products are detected by a simple visual color change (orange/green). The detection limits of the assay were determined using groundwater from a contaminated site. In addition, the assay was tested with groundwater from three additional contaminated sites. The final approach to detect RDase genes, without DNA extraction or a thermal cycler, was successful to 1.8 × 105 gene copies per L for vcrA and 1.3 × 105 gene copies per L for tceA. Both values are below the threshold recommended for effective in situ dechlorination. © 2017, Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.

Compressive strength tests carried out on Cubes & Cylinders cast with Normal Water & MagnetisedWater Based on the experimental results conclusion is drawn. Conducting tests on Concrete specimens cast in M20, M25 & M30grades of concrete Strength tests conducted on this magnetic water concrete (MWC) showed encouraging results and one caneasily replace normal water with magnetic water for mixing of concrete.

Experimental Investigation of Properties of Concrete Cast in Magnetized Water

This paper addresses the problem of selecting the most sustainable stormwater management alternative in developing countries in a dense urban context. Firstly, suitable Low Impact Development (LID) stormwater management measures for dense urban areas in developing countries were identified based on critical review of literature. Alternatives have been formulated as varying percentages (degree of adoption) of these suitable measures to manage the stormwater sustainably. Further, a novel decision-making framework is developed which generates the hierarchy for selection of the most sustainable stormwater management alternative. Four main criteria (technical, economic, environmental and social) comprising three quantitative and eight qualitative indicators have been used for evaluating seven alternatives. The regional and local societal priorities are captured through criteria-weightings and are translated into a decision-making methodology. Experts' opinions have been included using Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP). One of the most widely used Multiple Attribute Decision-Making (MADM) method, TOPSIS, is used to rank the alternatives and to identify the most sustainable alternatives. Various scenarios to represent different stakeholders' perspectives have been articulated. Alternative with medium level of cost implication and satisfactory level of performance is chosen by the decision making method in most of the scenarios. The proposed decision making approach can be used for selecting sustainable stormwater management options in densely populated areas of developing countries.

Assessment of stormwater management options in urban contexts using Multiple Attribute Decision-Making

This paper examines the behavior of full-scale unreinforced and geotextile reinforced unpaved road using an indigenously developed full-scale laboratory accelerated pavement testing set up. The models of the unpaved road were subjected to 35,000 loading cycles of standard axle load. The effect of reinforcement on the vertical stress distribution at the base–subgrade interface was investigated. The test results show that the inclusion of geotextile significantly reduced the magnitude of vertical stress in the reinforced road as compared with the unreinforced road. This reduction of vertical stress magnitude is comparable to 9°–16° increases in the stress distribution angle; this may be attributed to stretching of the geotextile due to the tendency of lateral spreading of aggregates in the base course. The limited number of load cycles confirmed the lateral restraint of base course aggregates by the geotextile reinforcement and thus a reduction in the magnitude of vertical stress. The test results also confirmed about 22% reduction in base course thickness due to geotextile reinforcement, thus one step towards sustainability by saving of the expensive natural base course aggregate.
