Plastic is one of the main components of pollution as reason is multiple Use of plastic like packaging of verities of product multi-fold in, due to low price and convenience in handling, but however, community of people is not aware about its impact on the human health and environment on littering or dumping. So that it is one of the most important challenge and need of human is to improve the performance of concrete and dispose waste intelligently. For that solution to be find out with use of technology to overcome these problems As the Magnetic water concrete, synthesized from the normal materials used for manufacturing of concrete which provides 10% to 20% extra strength to concrete, provides one route towards this objective. Good thing is normal water can easily replace with magnetic water and dispose waste plastic by which quantity of cement and sand used in any concrete mix reduces and we can made as new Eco-friendly material of construction for future.

Experimental Investigation of Properties of Concrete Cast in Magnetized Water

Number of laboratory studies; have shown that geosynthetics reinforcement improves the performance of flexible pavement either by ex-tending the service life or by savings in base course thickness. In spite of the good laboratory evidence for the geosynthetics reinforced flexible pavement, the mechanism that enables and governs the reinforcement function is still unclear [1]. Cyclic laboratory test has been one of the ways, used for assessing/evaluating the soil-geosynthetic interaction mechanisms. In such a tests contribution of geosynthetics prop-erties, interface shear provided by geotextiles and interlocking provided by geogrids when used under or within the base course of flexible pavement are mainly concentrated. This paper reviews literature of laboratory model studies carried out by various researchers over the globe. This review indicates that, appreciable improvement due to geosynthetics reinforcement depends upon various factors viz. location of geosynthetics, geogrid aperture size, geosynthetics properties, mainly stiffness, variation of base course thickness and strength of subgrade soil. The findings of these laboratory studies are also correlated with the same nature of field studies finding.

Geosynthetics reinforced flexible pavement-Review of laboratory studies

The remediation of chlorinated solvent contaminated sites frequently involves bioaugmentation with mixed cultures containing Dehalococcoides mccartyi. Their activity is then examined by quantifying reductive dehalogenase (RDase) genes. Recently, we described a rapid, low cost approach, based on loop mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP), which allowed for the visual detection of RDase genes from groundwater. In that study, samples were concentrated (without DNA extraction), incubated in a water bath (avoiding the use of a thermal cycler) and amplification was visualized by the addition of SYBR green (post incubation). Despite having a detection limit less than the threshold recommended for effective remediation, the application of the assay was limited because of the semi-quantitative nature of the data. Moreover, the assay was prone to false positives due to the aerosolization of amplicons. In this study, deoxyuridine triphosphate (dUTP) and uracil DNA glycosylase (UNG) were incorporated into the assay to reduce the probability of false positives. Optimization experiments revealed a UNG concentration of 0.2 units per reaction was adequate for degrading trace levels of AUGC based contamination (~ 1.4 × 104 gene copies/reaction) without significant changes to the detection limit (~ 100 gene copies/reaction). Additionally, the optimized assay was used with the most probable number (MPN) method to quantify RDase genes (vcrA and tceA) in multiple groundwater samples from a chlorinated solvent contaminated site. Using this approach, gene concentrations were significantly correlated to concentrations obtained using traditional methods (qPCR and DNA templates). Although the assay underestimated RDase genes concentrations, a strong correlation (R2 = 0.78 and 0.94) was observed between the two data sets. The regression equations obtained will be valuable to determine gene copies in groundwater using the newly developed, low cost and time saving method. © 2017 Elsevier B.V.

Most probable number with visual based LAMP for the quantification of reductive dehalogenase genes in groundwater samples

Web search queries are often ambiguous or multi-faceted, which makes a simple ranked list of results inadequate. To assist information finding for such faceted queries, we explore a technique that explicitly represents interesting facets of a query using groups of semantically related terms extracted from search results. As an example, for the query baggage allowance, these groups might be different air-lines, different flight types (domestic, international), or different travel classes ( rst, business, economy). We name these groups query facets and the terms in these groups’ facet terms. We develop a supervised approach based on a graphical model to recognize query facets from the noisy candidates found. The graphical model learns how likely a candidate term is to be a facet term as well as how likely two terms are to be grouped together in a query facet, and captures the dependencies between the two factors. We propose two algorithms for approximate inference on the graphical model since exact inference is intractable. Our evaluation combines recall and precision of the facet terms with the grouping quality. Experimental results on a sample of web queries show that the supervised method significantly outperforms existing approaches, which are mostly unsupervised, suggesting that query facet extraction can be e effectively learned.

Survey on Search Recommendation with Mining Query Facets

The project deals with the analysis and design of substructure of a Hydro Power House located in Indonesia named as ‘Karai 7’. Though each and every hydro power plant have mostly similar components and machines but the analysis and design of civil structures in a plant are always done with different ideas and optimized techniques. Hence this case study is based on some new and different considerations in analysis and design aspects and optimization. The objective of this project also lies in knowing the difference between analysis and design of conventional structures and important structures or special structures. The components such as floating raft, flood protection wall, column footing with gantry loaded on it, draft tube box, penstock encasing block, anchor block, machine foundations and tail race channel in the power house to be studied, analyzed and designed. The necessity to study these components is because of new components and concepts used to analyze and design them. The design of gantry columns depends upon the moment and axial loads transferred by steel super-structure. In case of hydro-power generation plants usually situated at river side the uplift pressure is of major concern to deal with due to high water table condition. The massive hydrostatic pressure coming on the flood protection walls of power house leads to main consideration in designing of power house components. There are huge different machines in power house which are subjected to axial thrust as well as vibrations. The design of their foundations is different than conventional designs. The super structure results found by means of staad.pro. Analysis based on static and dynamic load cases will be used to design substructure. Optimum analysis results in optimum design.

Analysis and Design of Composite Power House Sub-Structure

Column is the one of the most critical structural element requiring high level of care while designing. It has to carry the axial compressive load and resist moment due to eccentric loading. The following study is about Ferrocement Jacketed Column (FJC) and concrete filled tubular column (CFT) that are recently being adopted due to their various advantages over traditional column sections. In this study, a total of 20 sections of short column sections having circular and square cross section with pure confinement are experimentally tested to obtain the ultimate load carrying capacity of the short column for M40 grade concrete. The section is designed such that the core of the section is 10mm outside the confinement at the top and bottom so as to not load the ferrocement tube or steel tube longitudinally. The sections are to be tested using Universal Testing Machine. The experimental values are compared with the numerically found valued of compressive strength in each section. Also the strain increase due to confinement is analyzed. It was observed that the circular tubes provided more effective confinement as compared to square tubes. The confinement effect was higher for material with higher tensile strength and provided greater increase in load carrying capacity. The strain increase was of the order of 6 to 9 times strain of plain concrete at yield.

Behavior of Columns with Ferro cement and Steel Tube Confinement under Axial Compression

The present study describes the results of testing flat ferrocement panels reinforced with different numbers of woven mesh layers and three different types of steel fiber, for the mix that replaces river sand with crush sand. The main objective of this work is to study the effect of using woven wire mesh as reinforcement along with different types of steel fibers on the ultimate flexural strength of ferrocast panels. The number of layers used were minimum of 2. Panels were casted with mortar mix ratio (1:1.5) and water cement ratio (0.4) including super plasticizer ( Perma Ps-34 ) with dosage of 1.5% by weight of cement. Panels were tested under two point loading system under UTM machine after curing period of 28 days. Test results shows that panels combined with hooked end fibres exhibits greater flexural strength and less deflection as that compared with panels having less mesh layers and other steel fibers. The energy absorption of these panels were also studied through impact test. The results showed that the addition of fibers increased the first crack load and ultimate failure load for all types of fibres.

Effect of Different Types of Fibers on the Flexural Strength of Ferrocement Panels

In the whole world concrete is mostly used in mass quantity for a construction. It is expected that in the near future, the civil engineering community will have to produce structures in harmony with the concept of sustainable development. A number of studies have been carried out to investigate the possibility of utilizing a broad range of materials as partial replacement material for cement in the production of concrete using various different materials like fly ash, silica flume, GGBS etc. Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete or (GFRC) is a composite that has glass fibers instead of steel strands for its reinforcement. AR Glass Fibers are designed specifically for use in concrete.It is found that by the partial replacement of cement and glass fiber with effect of magnetic water helped in improving the strength of the concrete sustainably compared to normal mix concrete. The OPC is responsible for the majority of the embodied carbon content of concrete. Significant reductions in environmental impacts occur for GGBS.The present study investigates the effects on compressive strength of concrete of 50 % cement replacement with granulated ground blast furnace slag using alkali resistant glass fibers with varying percentage i.e. 0.2%, 0.3%, 0.4% & 0.5% respectively for 7 days and 28 curing days and effect of magnetic water used in mixing and curing concrete and compare the results with different percentage of fibers and curing days. Twenty mixes were tested and studied with different percentage of glass fiber with and without effect of magnetic water. Among the mixes the mix with replacement of 50% GGBS and 0.3% of AR glass fiber is better with respect to strength.
