Abstract: Internal combustion engine is a major source of noise pollution. These engines are used for various purposes such as, in power plants, automobiles, locomotives, and in various manufacturing machineries. The main sources of noise in an engine are the exhaust noise and the noise produced due to friction of various parts of the engine. Muffler is a device used to reduce noise within the exhaust system. It is arranged along the exhaust pipe for the purpose of noise attenuation. The expansion chamber of reactive muffler can be of various cross sections like Circular, Elliptical, and Square &amp;Rectangular. In this paper, One Dimensional Analysis of Single Expansion Chamber Reactive Muffler is carried out for various Cross-Sections theoretically, numerically and the results are validated with experimental analysis. The result shows to identify the transmission loss characteristics, by taking consideration of space allocation for expansion chamber. One dimensional analysis of single expansion chamber reactive muffler for various cross sections

Big data is the recent imminent technology, which can provide large benefits to the business administration. Owing to such huge volume, it becomes very complicated to ensure effective analysis by the existing techniques. The complications can be related to analyze, capture, sharing, storage, and visualization of the data. To tackle these challenges, a novel classification technique using Holoentropy based Correlative Naive Bayes classifier and MapReduce Model (HCNB-MRM) is proposed. The proposed HCNB, which is designed by combining the Holoentropy function with the correlative based Naive Bayes classifier deals with both high-dimensional data sets as well as extensive datasets to improve the benchmark, and classify the data based on dependent assumption. Therefore, the proposed HCNB-MRM is used to make the process simpler and to choose the best features from big dataset. The proposed HCNB with the MapReduce Model maximizes the performance of big data classification using probability index table, and posterior probability of the testing data samples. The performance of the proposed HCNB-MRM is evaluated using three metrics, such as accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity. From the experimental results, it is analyzed that the proposed HCNB-MRM obtains a high classification accuracy of 93.5965% and 94.3369% for the localization dataset, and skin dataset when compared with the existing techniques.

Holoentropy based Correlative Naive Bayes classifier and MapReduce model for classifying the big data

In this paper we propose a dual polarised pentagonal microstrip antenna for massive MIMO-base station to operate at 2.4 GHz WLAN band (IEEE 802.11 b/g/n/ax). The various researchers have used antenna array with different feeds for the massive MIMO BS to obtain the desired gain with required impedance bandwidth. However, this proposed work contradicts with existing method by using a single novel radiating element with suspended substrate to achieve the desired gain and required impedance bandwidth. The circular polarisation is achieved by using two coaxial-probe feeds. The main focus of research is on the selection of proper shape of the radiating element for Massive MIMO BS. The proposed antenna is successfully simulated using HFSS 13.0, fabricated on a FR-4 substrate and measured. The proposed antenna exhibits a much higher gain of 6.17 dB, improved impedance bandwidth of 171.9 MHz (return loss, S11=−10 dB), the axial ratio (AR) is 1.78 dB (< 3 dB), the patch area of 1,775 mm2, and also yields return loss better than −15 dB around the centre frequency of 2.45 GHz. The measured characteristics of the antenna are in good agreement with the simulated results.

High Gain Dual-Polarized Pentagonal Microstrip Antenna for Wireless Communications

For safe navigation of visually impaired, an assistive system that can estimate the distance betweenvisually impaired and obstacle and can intimate the user is needed. Estimation of the distance betweenan obstacle and visually impaired (user) is challenging due to artifacts in the real environment such asvariation in speed of obstacle and non-uniform illumination conditions. This paper presents a novelalgorithm to estimate the distance of an obstacle from the user using Speeded Up Robust Features(SURF). Instead of traditional distance measurement sensors, SURF features are used for distancemeasurement of an obstacle from visually impaired. The input video frames are preprocessed, andcorrection for non-uniform illumination is applied. The dominant points in each input video frame arelocated. The correspondence between the dominant points in successive frames is derived. For a typicalcamera, the average magnitude of SURF features is a linear function of a distance between the user andthe obstacle. This function is used to estimate the distance between obstacle and user. The proposedalgorithm is tested on videos recorded in a dynamic environment. For videos captured with Microsoftwebcam, an average % error for distance estimation is 1.31%, and for speed, estimation is 4.18%. Forvideos captured with an Iball camera, the average % error for distance estimation is 2.134%, and forspeed, estimation is 0.399%. The performance of the proposed algorithm is compared with existingtechniques on the basis of an error in distance estimation, standard deviation, space complexity, andtime complexity.

An Algorithm to Estimate Obstacle Distance for Assistive System of Visually Impaired

Nowadays, timely completion of the project has become a crucial part in the construction industry. The responsibility of cities is to mobilize in order to improve housing circumstances in slums as a medium of meeting fundamental human needs. Slum areas are highly populated regions created without adequate planning and lacking the key elements of day to day life. The slum rehabilitation is a critical project for any contractor or owner. Generally, consistent delays in the project show up in the preplanning and initial stages of the construction projects, for example, getting the general plans, getting the license, permissions, various legal clearances and so on. The complete construction stage is the shaping phase of any project where numerous unforeseeable events could occur. Lack in determination of the delay factors in the slum transformation project would contribute to the project delays, schedule overrun and capital overruns. This study aims to recognize the possible challenges faced in the construction of a slum rehabilitation project. This study classifies delay factors of the project in different stages i.e., pre-planning and construction stage and proposing a better type of approach to overcome delay related challenges in slum rehabilitation construction project.

Typical Challenges Faced in Slum Transformation Construction Project

Indian road network is one of the largest road network in world and need huge funding for maintaining and construction of new project. And in India time and cost overrun on infrastructure project are very common. BOT was one of the most successful model from PPP type. But from last couple of years BOT model is lagging behind to achieve financial closure within budget. Most of the BOT project fails due to not generating minimum revenue. Government modifies the MCA (Model Concession Agreement) time to time to eliminate lacunas from existing model. Recent modification of PPP is HAM (Hybrid Annuity Model). Hence to overcome from this type of difficulty government of India introduce the new PPP model called Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM) in 2016. This model was introduce to reduce the financial burden from the contractor. HAM model is a contractual arrangement made by government to overcome the limitations from BOT model. The financial strategy of HAM model is different than BOT model. In HAM model 60% funding made by authority during construction phase and remaining 40% is on annuity basis. In this paper the strength and limitation of HAM model is found out and identified most influencing factor for success of HAM model by using Relatively Importance Index (RII) technique. And schematic representation of financial model of HAM is generated by using Model concession Agreement (MCA).

Effect of Hybrid Annuity Model on Road Project

Natural convection heat transfer from horizontal rectangular fin array with various knurling patterns has been studied experimentally by the present authors to investigate the effect of knurl‐produced surface roughness of fin on the heat transfer rate. The parameters like knurling height from base, knurling depth, fin spacing, and supply wattage were considered for parametric study. In the present paper, numerical method (CFD) is used to simulate natural convection phenomena with knurled fins and results are validated with the experimental data available from literature. The numerical results show similar trends compared with experimental data and one can use this method to study various fin configurations for knurling patterns. The flow patterns from experiments and numerical method are compared for different supply wattages and fin spacing to back up the conclusion. It is also observed that the variation in nondimensional roughness depth and spacing (D kn/H and S/H) have more effect on Nusselt number than roughness height parameter (H kn/H). Further, the method is extended to study numerically large number of fin configurations with knurling patterns to gather sufficient data for Nusselt number with respect to fin geometric parameters as above and establish correlation for heat transfer coefficient for such type of fins.

Numerical validation of natural convection heat transfer with horizontal rectangular fin array using straight knurling patterns on fins—correlation for Nusselt number

An aerodynamic surfaces which are on the leading facet of the wings of the aircraft with fixed wings are known as Slat. When they are deployed the wings operate at greater angle of attack. This research paper introduces a modified design of slat section 1 which is modelled using modelling software CATIA. The proposed design will allow fitting an antenna made up of Kevlar which is a composite material. Kevlar is ten times stronger than stainless steel, raio-transparent and is bullet proof, these properties are essential for fighter aircrafts. The meshing is done using meshing software HyperMesh as it provides better tools for meshing. FEM Analysis of slats is done with help of designing and analysis software Patran.. Analysis results of modified structure are contrasted with the results of earlier metallic slats structure. Results obtained shows that it is preferable to replace aluminium metal by Kevlar Composite. It is an important factor to reduce weight in aerospace sector. Ribs of modified structure are optimized in this paper by removing material in different cut section such as trapezoidal, circular and triangular. Results of all three ribs with different cut sections are compared. It is observed that Ribs with circular cut section generate lower stress. Hence ribs with circular cut section are selected for manufacturing. It helps in reduction of overall weight of the slat.

Modelling And Comparative FEA Of Conventional Metallic &amp; Composite Structure Of Slat With Optimization Of Ribs

This paper shows comparison of Aluminum and Copper fin tube intercooler used in multistage reciprocating air compressor. Results are validated with ANSYS – Fluent - 18.2 software. The experimentation is done on the Copper fin tube length 1090mm with helically wounded strip width of 6mm and 8 numbers of fins per inch. Volumetric efficiency increases and work input decreases for Copper fin tube with air velocity of 5 m/s. The results shown increase in heat transfer with decreasing air temperature

Experimentation &amp; CFD Analysis of Intercooler Fins in Two Stage Reciprocating Air Compressor

The main objective of the present work is to develop a novel finishing process to polish the die steel materials with the use of magnetorheological fluid and also to investigate the effects of the input process parameters such as concentration of CIPs and abrasive particles (Al2O3), magnetizing current, speed of rotating tool, feed rate, working gap and hardness of workpiece on the response of surface roughness (Ra). In view of this, a novel MR fluid-based finishing setup is developed to characterize the process performance. Based on the method of full factorial design with two levels, 64 experiments are conducted on CNC vertical machining center with the customized setup. The results of the response are formulated by applying the ANOVA, and a mathematical model is established using linear regression to predict the response Ra. Capacity of the newly developed process is proven to achieve the surface finish on the hardness of 65 HRC D3 materials from 0.156 to 0.081 µm with the duration of polishing 10 min. The result of the experiments reveals that the major contributions of the parameters to improve the surface finish are working gap, magnetized current, and the hardness of the work piece, and followed by the rotating speed of tool, the ratio of CIP to abrasive, and feed rate of the work piece. The average percentage deviation between the predicted and observed surface roughness values is 3.56 within the band of 5% error. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) is applied to characterize the integrity of the surface and testifies the efficacy of the developed MR fluid process to obtain a nano-level surface finish on the die steel material.
