India is worldwide well known for exporting fruits, having a massive significance in the world. Global food security is essential for the durable production of fruits as well as for a remarkable reduction in pre and post-harvest waste. Harvesting and estimating the ripeness of fruits by a human is an expensive, laborious and time-consuming task. Ripeness estimation is carried out on single fruit like orange, apple, tomato, banana, papaya and etc., using color features. By taking into account increasing productivity of grapes and there is need to focus on ripeness estimation of grapes at the correct time. In this paper, we proposed a methodology that classifies grapes image into ripen and unripen category. A local breed of grape 'Sonaka' was examined during the harvest season from January to March 2019. The images were separated into two ripen categories, e.g. unripen and ripen according to the color and shape of grapes. This image was subjected to a classification model like Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) and support vector machine (SVM). Color features such as RGB and HSV and morphological features such as the shape of grapes were chosen as features for this classification model. The validation result shows that the CNN model achieves higher classification accuracy with 79.49% than the SVM classifier having 69%. © 2019 IEEE.

Grapes Ripeness Estimation using Convolutional Neural network and Support Vector Machine

The medical information sharing involves information collection, information storage, and sharing of this information. Protection to medical information against malicious attacks is an important concern due to its storage on remote cloud. In current online question answering system for health-related issues, extraction of medical knowledge from the clamorous question- answers pair is a challenge. To overcome these challenges, medical knowledge extraction scheme for cloudlet based healthcare system is proposed. The proposed and developed medical knowledge extraction (MKE) scheme finds valid remedial Triples from clamorous question-answer (Q-A) pairs and evaluate the reliability along with doctor's proficiency using truth discovery method the modified number theory research unit algorithm (NTRU) and collaborative intrusion detection system (CIDS) is used to avoid and detect malicious attacks. The response time of the proposed system is 6 to 8 seconds which results in a substantial reduction in time and cost for the end-user. © 2019 Inderscience Enterprises Ltd.

Medical knowledge extraction scheme for cloudlet-based healthcare system to avoid malicious attacks

Determining moisture content correctly in different materials or grains is the need of various industries today. Various techniques are suggested in the literature for sensing moisture contents of different materials. Horn antenna and microstrip antenna are the most commonly used antennas for finding moisture content, because of the noncontact type of measurement of moisture present in the sample. The microwave measuring technique offers a very exact and reliable measurement of the concentration of moisture. In the proposed system microstrip patch antenna at 900 MHz resonant frequency is designed and different materials like sodium carbonate, borax, potassium chloride, and lactose are tested for moisture content. For the fixed quantity of the sample, water content is gradually increased and return loss is measured. It is observed that with the increase in moisture content, return loss decreases. © 2019 IEEE.

Design of a Microstrip Patch Antenna as a Moisture Sensor

Receiver is an important element of solar concentrator system. In a Scheffler concentrator, solar rays get concentrated at focus of parabolic dish. While radiation losses are more predictable and calculable since strongly related to receiver temperature, convective looses are difficult to estimate in view of additional factors such as wind flow direction, speed, receiver geometry, prior to current work. Experimental investigation was carried out on two geometries of receiver namely cylindrical and conical with 2.7 m2 Scheffler to find optimum condition of tilt to provide best efficiency. Experimental results showed that as compared to cylindrical receiver, conical receiver gave maximum efficiency at 45° tilt angle. However effect of additional factors like wind speed, wind direction on especially convective losses could not be separately seen. The current work was undertaken to investigate further the same two geometries using computation fluid dynamics using FLUENT to compute convective losses considering all variables such at tilt angle of receiver, wind velocity and wind direction. For cylindrical receiver, directional heat transfer coefficient (HTC) is remarkably high to tilt condition meaning this geometry is critical to tilt leading to higher convective heat losses. For conical receiver, directional average HTC is remarkably less to tilt condition leading to lower convective heat loss.

Effect of wind flow on convective heat losses from Scheffler solar concentrator receivers

Difluoromethane (HFC32) is the perfect replacement of R410A due to its zero ozone depletion Potential and lower Global warming potential (GWP as 675) that is much less than R410A (2088) and Zero Ozone Depletion Potential. R32 refrigerant can achieve higher heat transfer coefficients with less quantity of refrigerant charge when compared to R410A. Fin and Tube heat exchangers (FTHE) are widely used in the refrigeration, air conditioning industries and in many other applications to exchange or transfer the heat from refrigerant or working fluid and to the sink. The aim of this paper is to calculate the Heat transfer coefficient, pressure drop and heat load of refrigerants in Air-cooled Fin and Tube heat exchanger. Here FTHE is used as a condenser in one TR residential air conditioning application and their comparison using R32 and R410A refrigerants. To study the behaviour of two refrigerants in liquid phase, two phase (liquid and vapor phase) and vapor phases inside the condenser. Here the airflow to the condenser is counter flow. Materials used were Aluminium for fins and copper for tubes to achieve greater heat transfer coefficient. Here fin and tube material combination is very important because of their material properties. Optimizing the design of FTHE, i.e. selecting the micro finned tubes to generate turbulence in refrigerant flow, which results in enhancement of heat transfer coefficient. Design and Analysis of Air Cooled Fin and Tube Heat Exchanger with smaller Diameter Micro Finned Tubes using R 32 in Replace of R410A

With the Internet of Things (IoT), the entire physical infrastructure can be closely coupled with information and communication technologies. In a typical IoT architecture, a gateway serves as the mediator which connects the physical devices of an IoT local system to a wide area network. Although the traditional network security mechanisms, such as IPsec, can be applied to protect the wide area network, they are not desirable to the IoT local system, due to their computationally-intensive procedures. In this paper, an efficient security scheme for IoT local systems is presented. The proposed security scheme is comprised of a novel key management protocol, an efficient and secure encryption protocol, and efficient authentication protocols. The security scheme is secure against various attacks, and it is much more efficient than IPsec, thus, it is highly desirable to IoT local systems. The application of the security scheme to clustered sensor networks (a typical IoT application) is studied. The comparison of the security scheme with the existing security mechanism, SecLEACH, shows that the proposed security scheme is more secure and outperforms SecLEACH with regard to network connectivity and efficiency. © 2019 IEEE.

An Efficient Security Scheme for the Internet of Things with Resource-Constrained Devices

CAPTCHA (Completely Automated Public Turing Test to Tell Computers and Humans Apart) is a security mechanism designed to differentiate between humans from malicious bot program. Captcha's are the security checks which prevents spammers and hackers from getting the important data from the web pages through this malicious code or robotic software program. Text-based captcha's were most widely deployed across the web to secure against malicious bot programs. Numerous successful attacks on this single layer text-based attacks were deployed by Google, Microsoft, Yahoo, Amazon, and other Internet giants. These attacks on text-based captcha's achieved a success rate from 5% to 77 % in less than 10 seconds on a standard desktop computer (with 3.5 GHz Intel Core i5 CPU and 8 GB RAM). In 2015 Microsoft deployed a new two-layer Captcha scheme which was more difficult for bots to attack. But recent survey state that the two-layer Microsoft's Captcha can be attacked with an average speed of 9.05s on a standard desktop computer. In this paper, Microsoft two layer captcha is analysed studied and new multilayer captcha is being proposed which will make bots difficult to attack the Captcha and get the important data from web maliciously. The proposed Captcha will be composed multilayer text-based captcha combined with an image which can be solved using a checkbox. The proposed captcha can be solved by humans in less than two seconds but will be very difficult for bots to solve. The proposed captcha is also time-based which should be solved within 10 seconds which will make bots even more challenging to attack the captcha. © 2019 Newswood Limited. All rights reserved.

Smart Captcha to Provide High Security Against Bots

Dust is common in process industries that manufacture, store and handle particulate material. More than half of dusts processed in industries are combustible. Explosive dust clouds can be generated from most organic materials, many metals and even some non-metallic inorganic materials. Studies have reported techniques to control explosions occurring in coal mines and other process industries and such occurrences in varied locations due to different types of dusts, point to the fact that this issue needs further investigation. Industrial practices in India are similar to developed countries but information relevant to dust explosion occurring in India is almost negligible as the type of explosion remains uninvestigated. Further, use of nanoparticles and nano-dusts in upstream oil and gas industry is increasing significantly. Under conducive conditions, storage, transport and pumping down nanoparticles downhole can be considered to be potentially vulnerable situations, leading to explosions with catastrophic consequences, not only financial but including human loss. It is difficult to eliminate dust explosion, but it can be mitigated using different methods. Such events can be prevented if technical safety parameters of dust are known. One of the important measures is the determination of worst case explosion overpressure and provision of blast resistant walls or structural components. This work investigates the dust explosion characteristics of nano-dusts, by taking into account the settings and the circumstances in which the dust is being accumulated. In order to study these changing characteristics of dust particles from an explosion as well as a technical safety perspective, a mathematical model is developed to determine a practical solution for screening in terms of an equation and demonstrate that the equation is doing fair against the experimental data. Various types of nano-dusts and their explosions are simulated using the constructed model. A sensitivity analysis for all the relevant critical parameters is undertaken with this model, after it has been validated with experimental data. The model represents explosions carried out using both micro-powders as well as nano-powders, which can assist the end-user in estimating the approximate value of overpressure and thus, in turn would largely govern further handling and analysis.

Mathematical Modelling and Analysis of Nano-Dust Explosion

The objective of this study was to examine pastes in order to check the possibility of utilizing unprocessed rice straw ash with or without micro silica in Pavement Quality Concrete. Physical (SEM, XRD, Specific Gravity etc.) & chemical properties (XRF) of materials used were analyzed. Different proportions of OPC, RSA & Micro silica were researched for normal consistency, initial and final setting time of paste etc. Different proportion of rice straw ash and microsilica used for part replacement of OPC in the cement paste were 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30% and 2.5, 5, 7.5, 10% by weight of OPC respectively. Rice straw ash was also mixed with micro silica to form a composite for replacing OPC in the mix. Mix R1M3 (5% Rice Straw Ash & 7.5% Micro Silica) could achieve highest pozzolanic reaction while mix R2M3 (10% Rice Straw Ash & 7.5% Micro Silica) could achieve maximum economy. In India, Rice Straw is produced in abundance and has extensive geographical coverage. Rice Straw Ash is technically of no use to farmers, and they treat it as a waste product. They tend to burn rice straw in order to clear their field for the next batch of crop. In this paper, rice straw admixed with micro silica is treated as a potential material for pavement construction, and various preliminary tests were done on cement-rice straw ash-micro silica paste to check the possibility of using rice straw ash in pavement quality concrete. © BEIESP.

Preliminary study of cement paste admixed with rice straw ash, microsilica &amp; rice straw ash-microsilica composite

This research deals with improvement in the mechanical strength of Pavement Quality Concrete (PQC) when admixed with Rice Straw Ash (RSA) and Microsilica (MS). Nine mixes were prepared by partially substituting Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) by MS (2.5%, 5%, 7.5%, and 10%), RSA (10%) and RSA-MS composite (5%–5%, 5%–7.5%, 10%–5% and 10%–7.5%). Maximum improvement was found when OPC was partially replaced by 7.5% in the case of MS and 5%–7.5% in case of RSA-MS composite. All the mix showed increased strength, w.r.t the control mix. X-Ray powder diffraction (XRD) and Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) techniques were employed for characterization of the selected samples. Power regression equations were established to predict split tensile and flexural strength from compressive strength. They were compared with universally accepted equations and were found to be more accurate for RSA and MS admixed concrete. Mix R1M3 (5% RSA, 7.5% MS) is recommended based on the findings. © 2019 Elsevier Ltd
