In this paper, 35 W driver power amplifier was designed and simulated using GaN HEMT for L-band radar. GaN HEMT is used because it can provide high output power and high gain as compared to other semiconductor technologies. The 35 W output power is generated using CGHV40030 GaN HEMT which is sufficient to drive further stages of power amplifier. The driver amplifier is designed at 1.3 GHz of center frequency. This amplifier is designed in class AB and 60.5% of PAE is achieved. © 2018, Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

35 W GaN solid-state driver power amplifier for L-band radar applications

In this paper wind turbine tower fixing mechanism is developed. The innovation in this test set up is that, wake effect can be simulated. Multiple number of towers can be fitted in the test set up. The tower can be fitted at a particular angle in the test set up. The distance between the towers also can be adjusted. The impact of wake effect on the power output can be studied. The angle between the towers can be measured. The distance between the towers also can be measured. The impact of wake effect on the flicker initiated in the wind turbine can be observed. © 2017 IEEE.

Towers fixing mechanism to create wake effect in a laboratory wind farm model

This study introduces a novel technique for advanced image watermarking utilizing recently created nature motivated Firefly Algorithm (FA). The principal focus of this paper is to insert the imperceptible watermark (logo) image into the host image with the end goal that the strength of the image will be extended. In the proposed system, we used two strategies to implant the watermark. First is Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) with Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) and another is Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) with SVD. FA was discovered by Yang which is spurred by flickering behavior of fireflies. Thought behind the FA is firefly with less brightness will be pulled in towards the firefly with more brightness. Structural Similarity Index Measure (SSIM) is utilized to demonstrate the measure of robustness and invisibility of the watermarking scheme. © 2018 IEEE.

Digital Image Watermarking Using Firefly Algorithm

Mammography is a popular imaging modality currently in use for routine screening of breast. Radiologists look for some of the significant signs of breast cancer while examining the mammogram visually. These signs are bounded masses, clusters of micro-calcifications, spiculations, and architectural distortions. Developing computer-aided algorithms for the detection and classification of abnormalities in mammograms is an extremely challenging task because of significant variableness in the type, size, shape, texture variation of abnormal region, and variability in the structure of surrounding tissues of the breast. The main objective of this chapter is to introduce dominant features of various signs of abnormalities and to discuss techniques to detect various abnormalities in mammograms. Algorithms for detection and classification of abnormality in mammograms: An overview

In this paper sliding mechanism is developed for testing the wind turbine model. The test set up is developed using steel frame. The frame may be made up of any other suitable metal like steel. It may be made of any suitable composite material. On the L section bars of the frame the slot are made for entire length. The blower fan can be slided on the bars and can be fitted at the desired position with nut and bolts. Similarly the wind turbine model also can be slided on the frame which is fixed on the other side of the test set up. This turbine model also can be fitted at the desired position with the help of nut and bolts. The speed of the fan also can be adjusted with help. By adjusting the wind speed vertical wind shear can be created. The magnitude of the vertical wind shear can also be varied by varying the position and speed of the blower fan. The corresponding flicker initiated in the wind turbine output voltage can be recorded with the help of the digital storage oscilloscope in the set up. © 2017 IEEE.

Image processing has been widely used in medical research over the past few decades. Estimation of age is one of the emerging topic in medical imaging. Bone age assessment is a semi-automated method based on radiological examination of left-hand wrist which is used to find the age of skeletal and it further compared with chronological age(actual age from birth date). A difference between these two values indicates abnormalities in the skeletal development. For the better results of BAA segmentation of the desired bone is necessary. Manual methods of BAA are time consuming. This paper deals with the implementation and analysis of different segmentation techniques that can be used to extract different bones in the wrist like distal, middle, proximal, radius and ulna the results shows the snake algorithm is very efficient and reliable. © 2017 IEEE.

Performance Analysis of Snake Algorithm for Bone Age Assessment

This paper proposes a framework for facial image quality estimation in order to address the limitation of real-time applicability of facial recognition. This framework determines whether an image is suitable for facial recognition. We first exploit machine learning algorithms to map the relationship between image quality features and performance of facial recognition. We extract a variety of features (like focus measure, brightness, obscured face) and study their influence on the accuracy of face recognition. After examining the results of this approach, we then used deep learning to build a binary classifier which accepts or rejects images before sending them for actual facial recognition. This decision is taken based on the probability of the facial recognition framework correctly matching a face from the image. We used images from the Chokepoint dataset, and OpenFace-an open source facial recognition software, for building our framework. © 2018 IEEE.

Towards Designing an Adaptive Framework for Facial Image Quality Estimation at Edge

New level of information sharing is enabled by different online communities like wikis, blogs, forums etc. which provides a platform for interaction with individuals which offers services like searching and posting queries or answers and share expertise with other information seekers. For recently posted query or searched query system furnishes the pool of answers with similar questions links, which could be a prolonged task for finding the significant answer. To overcome this, the system proposes an approach to effectively rank answers which are most relevant and best from historical archives based on similar queries found. It comprises of two components, one which contains training samples with positive, negative and neutral classes and other component retrieves similar questions to posted questions which are with their answer pools. Two data mining approaches were compared to retrieve similar questions. Our objective is to rank answer candidates based on pair wise comparison where question-Answer pairs are ranked using pair wise learning to a rank approach based on a trained model which provides the user with most relevant answers for a given posted question. © 2018 IEEE.

Answer selection in community question answering portals

Drawing or forming is a process normally used to achieve a required component form from a metal blank by applying a punch which radially draws the blank into the die by a mechanical or hydraulic action or combining both. When the component is drawn for more depth than the diameter, it is usually seen as deep drawing, which involves complicated states of material deformation. Due to the radial drawing of the material as it enters the die, radial drawing stress occurs in the flange with existence of the tangential compressive stress. This compression generates wrinkles in the flange. Wrinkling is unwanted phenomenon and can be controlled by application of a blank-holding force. Tensile stresses cause thinning in the wall region of the cup. Three main types of the errors occur in such a process are wrinkling, fracturing and springback. This paper reports a work focused on the springback and control. Due to complexity of the process, tool try-outs and experimentation may be costly, bulky and time consuming. Numerical simulation proves to be a good option for studying the process and developing a control strategy for reducing the springback. Finite-element based simulations have been used popularly for such purposes. In this study, the springback in deep drawing of an automotive Shock Absorber Cup is simulated with finite element method. Taguchi design of experiments and analysis of variance are used to analyze the influencing process parameters on the springback. Mathematical relations are developed to relate the process parameters and the resulting springback. The optimization problem is formulated for the springback, referring to the displacement magnitude in the selected sections. Genetic Algorithm is then applied for process optimization with an objective to minimize the springback. The results indicate that a better prediction of the springback and process optimization could be achieved with a combined use of these methods and tools.

Springback optimization in automotive Shock Absorber Cup with Genetic Algorithm

Information and communication industry (ICT) is primarily based on two aspects that are computation and network. In past few decades there is huge improvement in data processing technology with development of processors, but networks are not converged so far. For implementing industry 4.0, in which large number of IoT devices will be sharing the data with each other making true machine to machine communication. Management of these devices is not suitable as current network provide distributed management resulting congestion because of poor resource management. This project suggests use of Software Defined Network (SDN) approach, it separates Control and data plane of network devices. This separation will provide more agility, stability and cost reduction. Various protocols like OpenFlow and NetConf are used for discovery and configuration of remote devices. Centralize management is achieved using controller, improving monitoring, diagnosis and reconfiguration. © 2018 IEEE.
