Currently, many electrical applications use brushless DC motors (BLDCs) and DC motors. However, recently, switched reluctance motors (SRMs) have become the best replacement for traditional motors and BLDC motors due to the high efficiency, fault tolerance, minimized cost and varying speed. Motors with switching reluctance (SRMs) are used in many industries such as the automation and aerospace as they have great torque. It lacks windings on the side of the rotor. For the Alternating current or the direct current drives, it is the customer's first choice due to its maintenance is easy. The main advantage of motors with the switch reluctance whose construction is simple. In starting it shows the characteristics and structure parameters of performance analysis of S.R.M. Then next a simulation and method of modeling is shown in the paper. The output result of this system is shown in gate pulse for 4 phase. © 2020 IEEE.

Modelling and Simulation of Switched Reluctance Motor for Speed Control Applications

Obesity is becoming one of the prevalent lifestyle diseases across the globe; need to be deal with behavioral intervention through self-management and motivation in line with rigorous physical exercise. When it is a matter to handle obesity to regain the health, parameters like: self-motivation, self-control, guided treatment, counseling, monitored exercise, and medical assistance are essential in consideration list. Paper proposes the model encompassing three-dimensional care including nutritional intake, counseling, and gait monitoring during exercise. Considering the effect of obesity on biomechanics of foot, gait pattern analysis of obese person provides greater information regarding variations in spatio-temporal parameters. Ever-increasing contribution of behavioral intervention will maintain the line of action in the perfect direction. A selection of accelerometer, gyroscope, and electromyography sensors is appropriate for the cause to derive basic hardware. MSP430 processor and ZigBee module are used for processing information and establishing communication. Within close proximity and placement of nodes at a different level, nodes are able to achieve 90–94% packet delivery ratio in actual environment compare to the 100% packet delivery in simulation environment. Result suggests that with the adaption of accurate classification process, system could be useful for controlled exercise monitoring or for daily activity monitoring, which is working at low-power level with affordable wearable technology in achieving wellness. © Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd 2020.

Achieving Wellness by Monitoring the Gait Pattern with Behavioral Intervention for Lifestyle Diseases

Parametric analysis of Scheffler solar concentrator system is performed for improvement in thermal efficiency. A Scheffler concentrator of size 2.7 m2 has been used for experimentation. Cylindrical and conical shape receivers each with 8-liter capacity was used for experimentation which serve a dual purpose of absorber as well as steam storage device. The thermal efficiencies with different receivers were calculated on the basis of parameters like shape of receiver, initial heating of inlet water, tilting angle of receiver and receiver with the glass cover for steam pressures up to 3 bars. Cylindrical receiver has the maximum efficiency of 56.64% in case of initial heating of water (50°C) and conical receiver has the maximum efficiency of 76.04% in case of tilting position of receiver (45°) at 1 bar. Response surface method was used to optimise the thermal efficiency of receiver. A general mathematical model for obtaining thermal efficiency has been developed for both types of receivers in terms of incident average solar radiation and mass flow rate of steam. The optimum predicted value of thermal efficiency is calculated from the general mathematical model and there is a good agreement found between the experimental and predicted results. © 2020 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.

Studies on Scheffler solar concentrator to optimise thermal efficiency

Facial based human age estimation has become popular now a days due to tremendous increase in real time applications. Age estimation process comes with various challenges such as variation in lighting conditions, poses and facial expression. Performance of age estimation is evaluated with the help of measure 'Mean Absolute Error' (MAE). Main purpose of this work is improving facial based age estimation accuracy by building a Neural Network (NN). Beauty of NN is it learns nonlinear features of input data efficiently. For building NN model input images undergoes preprocessing, feature extraction, training and testing phases. NN model is built by providing training using various training algorithms. For prediction of age estimation neural network have shown superior performance for trainlm algorithm as compared to trainscg and traingdm algorithm. Experimentation are performed on partitioned training images and evaluated on testing images. We achieved low mean absolute error of 4.53 for 70 percent training images dataset.

Gabor Feature Extraction driven facial age estimation using multilayer perceptron neural network

As mentioned in the global two-wheeler market report, the two-wheeler market is projected to surpass $ 125 billion by 2024. According to WHO statistics, approximately 1.35 million people die each year as a result of road traffic crashes. And more than half of those are pedestrians, cyclists, and motorcyclists. Correct helmet use can lead to a 42 percent reduction in risk of fatal injuries and a 69 percent reduction in the risk of head injuries. These are concerning statistics. These growing numbers call forth new and upcoming technological advancements concerning the safety of the users. The main reason behind coming up with this smart helmet is the very issue of safety. The main objective of the project is to build a smart system which is integrated with sensors and modules for the safety of the user. While working on improving the safety of riders, it was ensured that its aesthetics and ergonomics are not compromised. © 2020 IEEE.

Design and finite element analysis of IoT based smart helmet

The unstoppable need and fast paced progress in the field of science and technology related trades has unlocked the door and set in new frontiers for researchers across the world, specifically those in the field of electronics. Out of many areas the one with a huge impact is the soldering technology.Ever since the birth of electronic era, soldering is seen as an important assembly having interconnectedness with technological and electronic products and this particular field is known to have a bright future over time. These solder joints have been seen as feeble associates of electronic products and the consistency of every single joint can be in charge of an electronic product's entire lifetime. To define soldering in simple terms, it encompasses the reaction of chemicals between the solder and the couple of surfaces combined together and subsequently the vitality of getting to know about the chemical reactions between the solders and bonding surfaces. Certain limitations towards the usage of hazardous substances (RoHs) that prohibits using lead-based solder because of safety and health issues have been important factors to uplift and develop new solder technology from lead-free solder. Trials are to overcome when the newly formed solder holds exactly analogous features with Sn-Pb solders. But then, these new solder alloys are said to have concerns with corrosion behavior. One of the main issues faced by a solder joint is corrosion and variety of procedures are taken up to reduce corrosion in solder joint. For this purpose, popularly SST (Salt Spray Test) is executed on the solder joints to check its corrosion effect. This study discusses the overview of corrosion in solder joints. © 2020 Author(s).

An overview of corrosion analysis of solder joints

From the view of initial insertion of dental implant during implantation, the design of implants includes cylindrical, conical profile of implant body with number of cutting flutes at the tip of the implant. The current study aim was to investigate the effect of number of cutting flutes at the tip of the commercial dental implant system on stress distribution in cancellous bone. A three-dimensional CAD model is prepared and analyses using numerical simulation software. The significance of number of cutting flutes was studied under the applied load of 100N axial (coronal-apical) direction, 40N lateral (Bucco-lingual) direction and 100N oblique at 45 degree to the longitudinal axis of the selected four types of implant system. A contact between implant and human jawbone is defined to model slide and stick conduct with coefficient of friction as 0.2 and the von Mises stress at the implant-bone interface in a cancellous bone is evaluated using ABAQUS numerical simulation code. The present study compared the effect of stress concentration at the location of implant cutting flutes and bone interface. The magnitude of von Mises stress (equivalent stress) for selected commercial dental implant system and the stress distribution pattern in a cancellous bone is analyzed. The implant system with number of cutting flutes is an acute parameter to effectively transfer the masticatory force and avoid the high stress concentration in cancellous bone at the interface. © 2020 Elsevier Ltd. Influence of cutting flutes on stress distribution for selected dental implants: Numerical studies

Artificial bone modelling has been done in recent times in order to replicate the mechanical properties and microstructure of the human cancellous and cortical bone. The applications of artificial bone models include bone grafting and testing of orthopaedic instruments. The recent developments in this field make the use of natural polymers and bio-compatible metals to manufacture porous structures replicating bone properties. The aim of this review is to consolidate the research efforts done in the field of making artificial bone models of the human trabecular bone by studying the material and manufacturing aspects of the process. The article reviews the bone models under the categories of polymers and composites and metal scaffolds. A combination of natural polymers along with a bio-compatible synthetic polymer and bio-ceramic reinforcement has proven to be a suitable candidate in replicating the mechanical properties of the bone while ensuring bio-compatibility. Three manufacturing techniques were reviewed with respect to the ability to replicate the bone microstructure. SLM is a potential candidate in terms of design flexibility and manufacturing accuracy. A direction to future research in extending the application of artificial bone models to the testing of dental implants has also been provided. © 2020 The Authors. Published by Elsevier Ltd.

A review on artificial bone modelling: Materials and manufacturing techniques

Synthesizing three-dimensional objects from single or multiple two-dimensional views has been a challenging task. To combat this, several techniques involving Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs), Long Short-Term Memory Networks (LSTMs), and Recurrent Neural Network (RNN) have been proposed. Since its advent in 2014, there has been a tremendous amount of research done in the area of Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs). Among the various applications of GANs, image synthesis has shown great potential due to the power of two deep neural networks—generator and discriminator, trained in a competitive way, which are able to produce reasonably realistic images. Formulation of 3D-GANs—which are able to generate three-dimensional objects from multiple two-dimensional views with impressive accuracy—has emerged as a promising solution to the aforementioned issue. This paper provides a comprehensive analysis of deep learning methods used in generating three-dimensional objects, reviews the different models and frameworks for three-dimensional object generation, and discusses some evaluation metrics and future research direction in using GANs as an alternative for simultaneous localization and environment mapping as well as leveraging the power of GANs to revolutionize the field of education and medicine. © 2020, Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Generative Adversarial Networks as an Advancement in 2D to 3D Reconstruction Techniques

In India, the insurance sector is rife with inefficiencies. The entire process, from buying an insurance policy to settling claims, has numerous stumbling blocks. Blockchain is considered as a disruptive technology that could revolutionize and bring huge benefits to the insurance sector. It can be can be a game-changer, making the entire insurance process simpler, secure and efficient. Through this paper, we are proposing a blockchain based system “LifeBlocks” to solve various problems in the insurance sector. The paper talks about the problems in the current insurance process and how our system overcomes these problems.
