Concrete is a composite material made with cement, aggregates and water in construction industry. New innovations and developments in construction field, the global consumption of natural aggregates is increasing day by day and at the same time production of solid wastes from the manufacturing units and demolitions are also very high. The ceramic industry generates about 30 per cent wastes every year. Its massive part is used into landfill. Use of ceramic wastes in construction industry is very low because of absence of guidelines, prevention of risk, less information and skills. The water which is subjected to high intense and focused magnetic field is called magnetized water. Magnetic water shows significant results on workability, strength and mechanical properties of concrete. However, the research on ceramic wastes as partial substitute for coarse aggregate as well as the effect of magnetic water on compressive strength and workability of concrete has not been studied. This research has been concluded with focus on examining use of ceramic tile wastes as partial substitute for coarse aggregates and magnetic water can prove to be useful. This experiment contains the preparation of standard cubes of various concrete mixes of ceramic waste, magnetic water and tap water. In this project, we have attempted to replace the various proportions ceramic wastes as coarse aggregate with normal water and magnetic water, compressive strength and workability of the concrete was calculated as well as various properties of the ceramic waste and magnetic water are studied.

Experimental Investigation of ceramic waste concrete using magnetized water

The main objective of these experimental tests is to study the effect of using different numbers of wire mesh layers and thickness on the flexural strength and impact strength of flat Ferrocement panels and to compare the effect of varying the number of wire mesh layers and thickness variations on the ductility. For studying the flexural behavior of panels, the thickness of panels kept varying from 20 to30 mm. For all the panels the Galvanized welded square mesh with square opening will be used in different layers. Panels used were casted with mortar having mix proportion 1:1.5 and Water/cement ratio 0.38

Behaviour of Ferrocement Panels Using Welded Square Mesh

It is expected that in upcoming days, the community of civil engineering have to produce structures with the concept of sustainable development by using highperformance materials and new concept with low environmental impact which are produced at a reasonable cost. But With development of population pollution level and impact of pollution on human life and human health are also increasing. Plastic is one of the main components of pollution as reason is multiple Use of plastic like packaging of verities of product multi-fold in, due to low price and convenience in handling, but however, community of people is not aware about its impact on the human health and environment on littering or dumping. So that it is one of the most important challenge and need of human is to improve the performance of concrete and dispose waste intelligently. For that solution to be find out with use of technology to overcome these problems As the Magnetic water concrete, synthesized from the normal materials used for manufacturing of concrete which provides 10% to 20% extra strength to concrete, provides one route towards this objective. Good thing is normal water can easily replace with magnetic water and dispose waste plastic by which quantity of cement and sand used in any concrete mix reduces and we can made as new Eco-friendly material of construction for future.

Experimental investigation to enhance compressive strength of concrete blended with plastic waste using magnetized water

Ferrocement is a thin, versatile construction material, with several unique properties and suitable for wide range of applications in Civil Engineering. Generally concrete structures are designed for static loads but sometimes dynamic loads like blasts etc. Prefabricated elements are used in construction industry as an alternative system to overcome the formwork problems in addition to getting better quality control. The prefabricated elements made of reinforced concrete are extremely heavy and difficult to transport, placing in position and to construct. Because of its good structural performance and low cost ferrocement is used in construction industry. Ferrocement is suitable for the construction of roofing/floor elements, precast units, manhole covers, and construction of domes, vaults, grid surface and folded plates. So finding the flexural behavior of ferrocement is necessary. Therefore, the flexural strength is determined by varying the meshes in the U-section and varying the thickness of the beam. An experimental and finite element analysis on flexural behavior of ferrocement U-shape channel section reinforced with wire mesh with varying number of wire mesh layers is presented. Finite element analysis of U-shape ferrocement channel were carried out. The finite element analysis (FEA) has been also used to model the ferrocement Ushape channel for various span and thickness. Ferrocement Ushape channel with varies thickness and number of mesh layers analyzed in Ansys. The obtained results indicated the acceptable accuracy of FE simulations in the estimation of experimental values. Such models can thus be used as quick, simple, and inexpensive methods to calculate the optimal deflection of ferrocement channels for various spans and sizes of tensile reinforcement.

The purpose of this report is to identify and examine the critical success and failure factors for Public Private Partnership projects (PPP) and Engineering Procurement Construction (EPC) contracts and comparisons between them. The report provides a brief description of PPP and EPC and the area in which it is adopted internationally as well as nationally. Also types of PPP contracts and types of EPC contracts. The success and the failure factors available in PPP and EPC projects will be described and identified. In further study there will be comparison between the PPP and EPC contracting on the basis of different criteria, such as critical success factors and critical failure factors, conditions of contracting, risk allocation in the PPP and EPC construction contracting etc.

Issues and prospects of Public Private Partnerships

The objective of performance based seismic design (PBSD) is to design structures so that they have predictable seismic behavior. Performance-based analysis evaluates how the building will perform in given potential hazard. In performance-based design, it is an important part of the design procedure to identify and assess performance capability of building and guide the many decisions that must be made. In this paper pushover analysis of multi-storey (G+5), (G+8), (G+11) RCC building has been done. Pushover analysis is a modern and excellent tool for performance-based analysis due to its accurate seismic assessment of the structure. The pushover analysis is performed using SAP2000 software. The results obtained after performing pushover analysis are compared in terms of parameters like base shear, storey displacements, spectral acceleration, time period and spectral displacement. From analysis results obtained, it is seen that base shear and spectral acceleration decreases, whereas displacement, spectral displacement is increased with the increase in number of storey. The seismic response of RC building frame in terms of performance point and the effect of earthquake forces on multi story building frame with the help of pushover analysis is carried out in this paper.

Performance Based Analysis of RC Moment Resisting Frame

The research revealed that three major factors, such as reserved strength, ductility andstructural redundancy affect the actual value of response modification factor (R). Those must be takeninto consideration while determining appropriate ‘R’ for symmetric and asymmetric structures. Theevaluation of ‘R’ is done by static-nonlinear analysis using ETABS. Also, ETABS is used to get thesequence and mechanism of plastic hinge formation. The procedure is validated by comparing resultswith Indian standard codal provisions for symmetrical structures and then those are evaluated forirregular structures. The ‘R’ calculated for symmetrical structure confirms evaluation procedure. CurrentIndian seismic design code never mentions about redundancy in structures. While irregularities instructural layout are punished, providing redundancy must be encouraged by the code. The values of ‘R’for irregular structure varies. Hence a single value of R for all buildings of a given framing type,irrespective of plan and vertical geometry, cannot be justified.

A study of Damping Systems of RCC Structures subjected to Specified Ground Motion

Seismic tremors make vibrations on the groundthat are converted into dynamic loads which cause theground and anything appended to it vibrate in anunpredictable way and cause harm to different structures.These vibrations make issue to serviceability of the structureand furthermore decrease structural integrity with possibilityof failure. Current patterns in development industry requeststaller and lighter structures. These structures are adaptableand built as light as possible which have low value ofdamping makes them helpless against undesirablevibrations. Presently a few techniques are developed todecrease seismic induced structural vibrations. The mosteffective technique to control structural response underseismic excitation is Tuned Mass Damper (TMD). The mainfocus of recent work is to investigate the performance oftuned mass damper to reduce the seismic response of multistorey(G+14) RC frame structure by considering real timehistory data. The study is conducted for mass ratios of 5%and 10%. The nonlinear time history analysis has beencarried for ground motion of four numbers of loadingconditions named Corralito earthquake, Hollisterearthquake, Newhall earthquake and Lexington earthquakeusing ETABS 2015. The storey displacement, storeyacceleration and base shear is compared for both systemsi.e., structure with and without TMD. From obtained resultsit is investigated that the structure with TMD of 10% massratio is more effective for controlling seismic response of thestructure.
