In this paper the blade fitting mechanism is developed. In this mechanism various types of blades can be fitted. The pitch angle of the blade can also be varied. Cylinders are welded to the hub. Another cylinder with small diameters is welded to a metallic square strip is welded to the blade with one square plate. This small cylinder is concentric to the cylinder which is welded to the hub. Blade can be fixed to the small cylinder using nut and bolt arrangement. The blade can be changed. The blade of desired shape can be fixed to the cylinder. The pitch angle of the blade can be changed by rotating the concentric cylinder. The holes are drilled along the length of both the cylinders. The holes are also drilled along the periphery of the cylinder. The pitch angle can be fixed by nut and bolts passing through the holes of the cylinders. The pitch angle for all three blades is kept constant. This mechanism can be placed in the laboratory test set up. Artificial wind can be created using blower fans. The impacts of blade shape and pitch angle on the output voltage flicker can be observed on digital storage oscilloscope. © 2017 IEEE.

Wind turbine blade fixing mechanism

In this paper a point source of air is used to create wind shear. Two point sources of air are used. The wind speed achieved with point source is about 30 m/s. The point sources are kept at some distance to avoid high speed. The speed of the wind from the point source is controlled by a speed regulator. One point source is kept on the upper side of the test set up. Second point source is kept at the lower side of the point source. The speed of the wind from point source is controlled. The speed of the wind from the upper point source is kept high. Different wind shear conditions are created. The impact of wind shear on various power quality parameters may be observed using this set up. The impact of vertical wind shear on voltage flicker produced in a wind turbine is observed. © 2017 IEEE.

Wind turbine model testing using point source of air to create wind shear

In this invention the wind turbine is made from bamboo. Various types of bamboos are available. Hollow bamboo cut along the length may be used to form wind turbine blade. The gap between the two bamboos may be filled with some filler material. This prevents the air to pass between the two bamboos. The bamboo may be fixed with each other by using nails. Natural fibers may also be used as a binding material for bamboos. Suitable glue may also be used. The blades are cut in required shape. Wind turbine blades of horizontal axis as well as vertical axis may be made from the bamboos. © 2017 IEEE.

Use of bamboo for constructing ecofriendly wind turbine

This paper gives details of facility to test wind generator in the laboratory. Various types of prime movers may be used in the test set up. These prime mover motors can be DC motor, induction motor, synchronous motor or permanent magnet synchronous motor. The generator may be any kind of generator like DC generator, induction generator, synchronous generator, permanent magnet synchronous generator etc. The speed of the prime mover motor is varied. As the generator is coupled with the motor speed of the generator is also varied. The speed of the generator is varied over a wide range. The impact of the change in the speed of the generator on the output and output voltage flicker is observed. The gear box is also provided. It can be connected in between the generator and the motor. So the speed of the generator is increased. The impact of gear box on the power quality also can be observed. The test is carried on the generator with and without gearbox. The impact of gear box and variation in the speed on the flicker initiated in the wind turbine can be observed. © 2017 IEEE.

Testing of wind generator models using motor drive

We propose design, simulate and do the analysis of a non-blocking Microring Resonator (MRR) based silicon optical router. The design of router and switching matrix is made by considering the losses due to various fundamental components used in the router and symmetry of the components while placing them in the design. Thus, the achieved design results in the reduction of crossings and at the same time is the most symmetrical design. The proposed router uses sixteen MRRs, four bends and fourteen crossings. Analysis of the router shows a reduction in insertion losses because of the decrease in the number of crossings. Moreover, the principle used to switch on and off the MRR is based on the thermo-optic effect. In comparison to other designs of optical routers, the proposed design can be viewed as most symmetric design and give better results in term of fewer losses, more switching speed and lower power consumption. © 2018 IEEE.

Design and Analysis of Five Port Optical Router for Optical NoC

Multi-focus images may be fused to get the relevant information of a particular scene. Due to the limited depth of field of a convex lens of a camera, some objects in the image may not be focused. These images are fused to get all-in-focus image. This paper proposes an innovative way to fuse multi-focus images. The proposed algorithm calculates weights indicating the sharp regions of input images with the help of Deep Belief Network (DBN) and then fuses input images using weighted superimposition fusion rule. The proposed algorithm is analyzed and examined using various parameters like entropy, mutual information, SSIM, IQI etc. © 2018, Springer International Publishing AG.

Multi-focus image fusion using deep belief network

All humans operating vehicles with several in-puts(steering wheel, pedals, gears etc.) do so in a unique way. We attempt to identify drivers based on this characteristic driving profile. Users were made to playa realistic 3D driving simulation, StuntRally. Their keypress events were logged. These logs were used to train and test different classifiers such as Support Vector Machine(SVM), K Nearest Neighbour(KNN) and Naive Bayes(NB). The SVM performed best with an average testing accuracy of 80 %. © 2018 IEEE.

Driver Profiling Using Realistic Racing Games

Drowsiness is one of the most prevalent causes of car accidents, especially after drunk driving. There have been many studies to detect drowsiness while driving using different approaches. We propose a system which would efficiently detect drowsiness by integrating the real-Time EEG method of detection and our concept of individual-level Hypothesized Variable Speed Limit (HVSL). By studying the power spectral density obtained from the driver's EEG and the overall duration of the persistence of the alpha waves, it can be determined whether the driver is going into a state of drowsiness or not. In response to elongated time periods of persisting alpha waves, an alarm will be put off to alert the driver. The HVSL module would recommend an appropriate speed depending on environmental conditions as well as drowsy level, thus monitoring the vehicle speed. Hence, drowsiness detection can be combined with HVSL system to mitigate the chances of potential accidents. © 2018 IEEE.

Inferring user emotions from keyboard and mouse

Recycling of plastics is very much hindered due to the process of segregation and sorting of individual polymer and also lack of compatibility between the different polymers. There is no single compatibilizer which can be effective for different pairs of polymer. If one could develop a multifunctional compatibilizer (MFC) that can be effective for a various range of polymers, the mixed plastics waste can be processed as such with minimal sorting/segregation. There are a number of reports on compatibilizer for specific pairs of polymer blends but there are practically no reports on single compatibilizer which works for different pairs of polymers. In the present studies, we have investigated the possibility of introducing different functional groups on a single polymer chain by chemical grafting. This multifunctional polymer has been used as compatibilizer for polypropylene blend with polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) and ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA). © 2018, Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.
