Design of Post Installed chemical anchorage for Concrete – Steel connection

Three Finite Element (FEM) models have been developed using ANSYS 16 workbench for Post-tensioned prestressed concrete beam, beam retrofitted with Ferrocement and beam retrofitted with FRP. In this research comparison of two retrofitting systems by formulating excel sheets for generalized solution and validation of results by finite element modelling in ANSYS software is done. This work gives the comparison of total stresses, flexure capacity increase, deflection reduction, crack control, displacement curves and the check for shear on the same model. Although a great amount of work had been done on retrofitting of concrete and prestressed concrete bridge girders comparison of these two retrofitting procedures for prestressed beams for residential is really beneficial to design professionals. The results showed that Ferrocement strength was effectively utilized in the section selected herein, which could be addressed through economy for the amount of Ferrocement and prestressing steel used, thereby increasing the section ductility. The approach produced comparable results to the FEM and can be effectively and conveniently used in design

The technology of post-installed reinforcing bars isgaining importance since these bars are being frequently used in horizontal, vertical, and overhead applications in retrofit andrehabilitation of structures. Systems for installation of post- installed reinforced bars using injectable adhesive are in used in concretestructure. An Overview and Analysis of Post Installed Rebar Connection on Concrete Structure

For a single scull rowing boat, rigger is the maincomponent. The forces applied on oar by the oarsman istransmitted on the boat shell via rigger. Thus rigger should beenough sturdy and long lasting component of the rowing boat.Currently tube riggers which are attached to the boats aremanufactured locally. The stress analysis of these riggers was notfound in the literature. This paper is about the FEM stressanalysis of the traditional tube rigger used for rowing boats. Alsoit discusses the issues raised by oarsman who are the users ofthese tube rigger. Starting from the real measurement, CADmodel of traditional tube rigger is done. From the literature,amount of force acting on the rigger by the oarsperson isobtained. Finite Element Analysis of this rigger is performed inANSYS R16.0. The FEM analysis gives us values of stressesinduced in the rigger. These values are compared for permissiblelimits of material of rigger. Thus induced stresses are within safelimits. This will help in further improvement in design and mayalso be helpful for the local manufacturers to have scientificallydesigned and tested rigger. The FEM analysis verified that thestress induced in tube rigger is within the permissible limits.Thus tube rigger is safe as per its current dimensions and theselected materials.

Comparative performance of Precast Ferrocement panel wall system with Brick wall, under static and Impact load, an application for war prone housing

The last few decades have shown a dramatic increase in the number of man-made disaster activities resulting in extensive life loss and structural failures. The explosive devices used in these heinous acts result in blast wave loading. Therefore, the present structural engineers require comprehensive expertise to analyze and design blast-resistant structures. The present study aims to develop blast load time history based on the previous research works and demonstrates the effectiveness of base isolation technique such as lead rubber bearings in mitigating the structural responses under the effect of blast loading. Two base-isolated building models systems are analyzed to examine the role of structural control strategies subjected to blast loading. Various isolation parameters are also incorporated in the present investigation in improving the structural performance subjected to this extreme dynamic loading. The study concludes that base isolation is an efficient technique in reducing structural output parameters such as peak storey displacement, storey drift and root mean square absolute acceleration values due to post-blast effects. Energy-based equations are also examined in the study to evaluate the hysteretic energy dissipated by the system subjected to blast loading.

Positive-Phase Blast Effects on Base-Isolated Structures

The survey work of flood affected area of river basin is significant factor in flood management. The floodmanagement work is done by analysing water discharge and water profiles at different cross-sections of river basin. Riverbed plays crucial role in distribution of flood water and water velocity profile. Hence topographical detailed survey is verymuch essential for flood management works.Traditionally topographical survey work is carried out manually by using total station to acquire detailed data on theactual spot by the people on the ground. On the other hand, in aerial surveying UAV borne mapping system is developedfor survey purpose of river basin in which digital and infrared cameras are used along with GPS. This paper focuses oncomparative study between conventional topographical survey and drone or aerial photographic survey by using the HECRASsoftware for achieving results. The comparison is done on the basis of flow rate, water depth and velocity across theflood plain of river. The evaluated parameters in the study provides a guideline for the decision making process for waterresource management projects

Application of a Mathematical Modelling Tool for the Evaluation of Hydrological Parameters using Conventional Survey and Drone Survey

Conventional bricks are produced from clay whereas fly ash bricks make use of fly ash, sand and cement.Due to rising demand the quarrying operation for sand and clay has increased. Also the need for cement has increased which has led to high emission of CO2 gas and its high prices. In this study saw dust, sugar bagasse ash, saw dust ash and rice husk ash has been used as a partial replacement for cement whereas rubber tyre, thermocol, cocopeat, plastic powder and coconut shell ash has been used as a replacement for sand. Engineering property such as compressive strength has been studied at 14 days. From the study, it has been observed that sugar bagasse ash and saw dust ash can be used for partial replacement of cement and rubber tyre, plastic powder and coconut shell ash can be used as a replacement for sand. In the entire study there has been no use of clay as well as sand whereas an optimum quantity of cement has been used.

A new technique for measuring discharge through compound broad crested weir

Nowadays, timely completion of the project has become a crucial part in the construction industry. The responsibility of cities is to mobilize in order to improve housing circumstances in slums as a medium of meeting fundamental human needs. Slum areas are highly populated regions created without adequate planning and lacking the key elements of day to day life. The slum rehabilitation is a critical project for any contractor or owner. Generally, consistent delays in the project show up in the preplanning and initial stages of the construction projects, for example, getting the general plans, getting the license, permissions, various legal clearances and so on. The complete construction stage is the shaping phase of any project where numerous unforeseeable events could occur. Lack in determination of the delay factors in the slum transformation project would contribute to the project delays, schedule overrun and capital overruns. This study aims to recognize the possible challenges faced in the construction of a slum rehabilitation project. This study classifies delay factors of the project in different stages i.e., pre-planning and construction stage and proposing a better type of approach to overcome delay related challenges in slum rehabilitation construction project.
